This one is steaming right down the rail-lines and we may as well confront it now.

fr-james_baker_III.jpgAs you know, President Bush set up the Iraq Study Group under the tutelage of good ol’ boy James Baker and Lee Hamilton. Over the next few weeks, the conclusions of this group will become more clear but we have a fair idea of what it will say….

The proposals reportedly include an approach to Iran and Syria — a policy that Robert Gates, a member of the commission, has argued for. Rarely has a government report been more eagerly awaited than the one being prepared by former secretary of state James Baker and former congressman Lee Hamilton, an Indiana Democrat, about how the U.S. can leave Iraq.

Now given that Iran and Syria are both confirmed member of the axis of evil – it’s interesting that Baker and Hamilton are going to recommend sitting down and talking to them.  And what, exactly, will be discussed? This is Bush preparing to discard his own doctrine under the cover provided by this Report from Baker and Hamilton. The consequences will be severe – first and most importantly for the Iraqi people we will betray, but also for the GOP base – which was wanting VICTORY and is now being offered DEFEAT.

Following on from Iranian congratulations, Syria has rushed to offer it’s sincere thanks to the US electorate…

"The outcome of the theses elections is a genuine punishment from the American people to President Bush’s administration that staged a war on Iraq because of incorrect and inaccurate stimulations," Syrian "Information Minister" Dr Mohsen Bilal said in an interview with al-Jazeera, according to the official Syrian news agency SANA. "Therefore the U.S. and British forces are in a mess there now,"

Bilal noted that incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi opposes the war in Iraq.

"This lady has made the word of the American people audible. And this is very comfortable."

Well, if IRAN and SYRIA are comfortable, I’m feeling pretty relaxed – how about you? Wonder how comfortable Israel is feeling? The vultures circle…

john-bolton-un-bg.jpgI am saddened to read that John Bolton is due to be the next casualty of the Democrat victory. it’s an immense shame since he is an excellent Envoy who was confronting the corrupt United Nations. Responsibility for this lies entirely with the timid Bush, who lacked the guts to force through Bolton’s nomination when he had the chance and now, thanks to a REPUBLICAN Senator – Lincoln Chafee – Bolton will fall. Why does the GOP tolerate RINO’s like Chafee? Where has been the discipline and leadership on this vital nomination?

First Rumsfeld, now Bolton – the price of Bush hesitancy is very high. I’m sure Kofi Annan and his pals will be celebrating…

Yes, we all know this is the phrase used by Islamic killers as they commit their acts of vile barbarity.

It’s what Mohammad Atta shouted as he crashed into the Twin Towers, it’s what Zarqawi roared when he beheaded innocents in Iraq. And it’s what supporters of Minnesota Congressman Keith Ellison screamed at his victory celebration.

A new day is dawning in Americahat-tip LGF!

swaraaj-American-Eagle-and-Flag-II-Print-C10055018-small.jpgI wanted to offer my congratulations to the US Democrats, who have now won both House and Senate, and whose candidates have pulverised the Republican Party across the United States.

Yes, I know I was grumpy about it yesterday but hey – I’m made of flesh and blood and I react like everyone else does when confronted with what was…unwelcome news! But I have calmed down. Honest.

You see, on reflection, yesterday turned out to be a GOOD day to be a Conservative in the USA. I say that because as other commentators have also been putting on record, the GOP can now renew itself because it HAS to renew itself ….or face President Hillary Clinton in 2008. There is no option to do otherwise.

This is going to be a momentous task and it will need huge change.

Most importantly, Leadership is required. Bush has comprehensively failed in this regard. He has stuttered  but never really started in his second term to give that which the American people want – dynamic articulate and confident leadership.  And his Party has now paid the severest price. Not that Bush is alone in the blame – I believe this must be shared across the current highest echelon within the Party. They have become complacent, smug, unfocused, corrupt…and unworthy.

So the American people were RIGHT to send them the momentous message that hit home yesterday. The American people were RIGHT to reject Bush and his hesitancy on Iraq. The American electorate have done us a favour by stopping the stumbling that has characterised this shambolic second term of the Bush Presidency. And make no mistake about it – the Bush Presidency effectively came to an end last night.  Again, that is good news because he has been going NOWHERE for the past two years and I, like so many others, am sick of it.

So, what can we look forward to?

Well, if 2008 is see revived GOP fortunes, then a Presidential big win by a Republican candidate is key. I favour Rudy Giuliani at this point. I believe that he would trounce Hillary and whilst he is too liberal on some social fronts for my liking, he IS  a man who has shown leadership, and an ability to articulate this when necessary.  That’s what is lacking at the moment and voters sense it. We need the GOP to retain the essence of the Bush doctrine, but make it  MUCH more aggressive and unilaterist, and then sell this to the American people who YEARN to see our troops WIN in Iraq. It’s high time that an all out attack on Big Government was made, and illegal immigration tackled head on by enforcing Borders. It’s also time that the United Nations was taken on – how about having a policy calling for the bozos on the East River to "up shop" and go to France or somewhere that does not cost Americans money? How about supporting Israel when it tackles the Jihadists in Hezbollah? There is SO much that a reinvigorated GOP can do – but it means strengthening core conservative principles, putting forward clear moral values, giving Americans a reason once again to cast their votes FOR the Republican Party.

So, I think a big thank you to the Pelosicrats. And above all, to the US electorate. It’s time for a Republican rising…..cometh the hour…

Michelle Malkin calls it the Sheehanisation of America. Watch, listen and draw your own conclusions. This was taken yesterday – note the reaction to Rumsfeld’s resignation…good call, George.

‘Following the ‘victory’ for the Democrats in the United States, this is how much of the radicalised Islamic world now views Uncle Sam.’  Discuss.

I thought it might be useful to point ATW readers to a quick summary of some of those who have WON today, as the Democrats seize power again.

  • Let’s start with Venezuelan thug Hugo Chavez. On hearing the news that the Democrats were back he enthused…

"All this fills us with optimism."

I bet it does.

  • A joint statement of Socialist members of the European Parliament called our election results "the beginning of the end of a six-year nightmare for the world" and exults that the Bush administration is "seriously weakened."
  • Suleiman Hadad, a lawmaker for Iran’s terror-supporting client state Syria, happily comments that "President Bush is no longer acceptable worldwide."

795151-540816-thumbnail.jpgI see that September 10th people prevailed in the US mid-term elections yesterday.

The Democrats have won control of House and we still await the final results for Senate, but the Dem’s look strong enought there too. This is a return to the time before 9/11 – that era of frivolity- and there will be consequences, with the Jihad MSM loudly proclaiming the "War in Iraq" was a key factor in GOP downfall. Is it too late to save Saddam, I wonder? Can we ask Hillary to put in a request for clemency before it’s too late?

795151-540821-thumbnail.jpgNancy Pelosi will become Leader of House. Here are a few of her pronouncements for your consideration..

"Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process."

and then…after the Republican Party actually DID something about Saddam….

"The president led us into the Iraq war on the basis of unproven assertions without evidence; he embraced a radical doctrine of pre-emptive war unprecedented in our history; and he failed to build a true international coalition. "

I am disappointed that the Defeaticrats have prevailed – as they offer NOTHING. They are void of ideas other than bashing Bush for two more years. I am disappointed that too may Americans have forgotten the lessons of 9/11. I suggest a reminder will be coming their way from a freshly invigorated Islamistan.

But Bush is not beyond criticism here. The past few years have been nothing short of uninspiring. He has favoured Condi and US State, whilst sidelining Rummy and the more robust approach of Cheney. He has been hopeless at dealing with illegal immigration. He has failed to follow Conservative principles in too many areas. And there has been too much corruption in his administration, though you have to seriously wonder if the Dem’s are whiter than white. (See Nancy Pelosi’s endorsement of Alcee Hastings for the position of Chairmanship of the Intelligence Committee. The Democratic House voted to impeach Hastings from his federal judgeship in 1988 for conspiring to extract a $150,000 bribe from convicted criminals in return for lowering their sentences. Now that is all forgotten and he is to hold this key job!)

America is still at war today with the Islamofascists just as it was yesterday. Nothing has changed in that regard. But today, a white flag has been hoisted up the mast-pole and we will watch the response from those who sit in caves and plan our annihilation. Do you think THEY also will celebrate this morning?

The GOP has two years to revive itself, to awaken from the slumber of recent years. I trust that it will find the imagination, the courage and the resolve to win back support that has drained away. The further we get from 9/11, the stronger the siren voices of those who live in 10th Septemberland become. But follow them – and you will crash on the rocks, or something worse….

795151-539402-thumbnail.jpgIt’s not just leftists around the world who will be watching out for the results of the US mid-term elections that could determine the course of President George W Bush’s last two years in office. Naturally the MSM are drooling at the prospect of a Dem victory in both Houses, although I detect a massive cranking down of their "landslide" expectations in recent weeks as the Republicans have gotten their act more together.

But who else will celebrate a victory for the Democrats?

Well, we know the likes of the UN and EU are champing at the bit to see the Republicans given a black eye. They are envious of a decisive United States that will act to do what is right, rather than sit and pontificate as to what might be wrong. (See UN discussions on Darfur)

But there are other people who sit, and watch, and wait.

The Islamofascists know which Party they want to see gain the levers of power. They know that the latter day Democrats are essentially a frivolous Party, which wants to cut and run on the war on terrorism. And if the Jihadists see the will of the US dramatically weaken, and if they watch images of Democrat appeasers seizing power in both Houses, what do you think THEIR reaction will be? (Clue; It won’t be cut and run..)

Should the US electorate make the wrong decision today, then I fear for the future of United States and its genuine allies. The Jihadists will be encouraged and more acts of terror will follow.

The ONLY result that can send a message of defiance to the Al Queda scum out there is to vote Republican. Bush is far from perfect, and his Party is not in any way perfect, but compared to the Defeaticrats, I’ll take the Republicans ANYDAY. As Ann Coulter said last week..

Even a dying party has death throes. If Democrats win a slight majority in the House or Senate, Americans will get shrill, insane leadership of the nation in time of war.

Democrats can’t not be crazy. They will instantly set to work enacting a national gay marriage law, impeachment hearings, slavery reparations and a series of new federal felonies for abortion clinic protesters. The only way to get Democrats to focus on terrorists would be to convince them that the terrorists are interfering with a woman’s right to choose or that commercial jetliners exploding in midair are a threat to America’s wetlands.

The probable new House speaker, Nancy Pelosi, is in a catfight with Rep. Jane Harman for not being insane enough.

Remember who is watching and waiting. The MSM won’t tell you!
