Its not a fair Copper!

It is indeed a long time from the days of my youth, when the catchphrase was: The Police are on Your Side’.

Many policemen and women are still worthy of that statement, old-fashioned though it may be, but for some, attracted only by an easy arrest and conviction through subterfuge and lies; they are definitely NOT!

and what have YOU got to hide; Sir?

Police hunting ‘Midsomer Murder’ killer to begin knocking on doors to ask for DNA

Detective Superintendent Nick May of Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team said: “We want to thank all those men who attended the voluntary sessions in Bosham, Fishbourne and Chichester over the three-week session to give their DNA.

“The response has been positive. We still need those men who have not come forward to do so.

“We will be doing house-to-house enquiries and knocking on doors during a week of action from Monday 6 April to 12 April asking those who have not given their DNA to consider doing so.

“If we don’t get a reply we will also be sending out further letters asking them to attend Chichester police station to give their DNA.

“We have to be tenacious in our efforts to catch the killer.

But we do understand that this is an entirely voluntary process and there is no compulsion for anyone to co-operate with us.

“We simply want to do the best we can for Valerie’s family and for the community in bringing the killer to justice.”

More than 9,500 people have been interviewed as part of the investigation and a £20,000 reward has been offered for information that could help lead to the capture of the person responsible.

Detective Constable Steve Taylor from the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team explained: “The process is painless and should take no longer than 10 minutes.

“It is important for the public to understand that we will only use the samples obtained to check against this particular crime and their DNA profile will not appear on any database.”

Indeed? In regard to the final sentence from this mealy-mouthed copper, I am reminded of that old saying : If you believe that, you’ll believe anything!

The Telegraph – Woolwich attack: Police let women risk their lives during wait for armed back up

The police response to the Woolwich terrorist attack has come in for further criticism after it emerged that uniformed officers allowed members of the public to intervene while they waited for armed back up.

CaptureIt took nine minutes for the police to arrive at the scene of the murder of Drummer Lee Rigby, a further five minutes for an armed response unit to get there. During that five minutes the police simply watched as three women confronted the Nigerians and attempt to comfort Rigby. Senior officers watched everything from CCTV cameras nearby. That the women put themselves in extreme danger is undeniable. The police knew it also, otherwise they would have moved in to make arrests immediately.

Should the police have taken immediate action instead of hanging back to ensure their on safety? Of course. This is why we must pay them. They’re getting danger money. It’s called a salary. But that’s all in the past. Now, even when they saw three women in immediate danger, they did nothing except protect themselves.

We know that when an intruder comes through the window the police are at least minutes away. We can conclude, from Wednesday, that even when they are on the scene, members of the public simply cannot rely on the police to confront danger.

Says the man who donated $1m to Obama’s 2012 campaign. Still he makes some good points, even if they are rather obvious to a libertarian –

Am I right in thinking that Maher is something of a (US) liberal/progressive? Or are his opinions more eclectic than that? I know he’s not a favourite among Republicans. He’s fawned all over Ron Paul on his show. Maybe some sense rubbed off onto him. Let’s hope he keeps moving that way instead of putting his hope and money in politicians who hate his freedoms more than any jihadist.

As to the suitability of this particular young woman to act as a representative for ‘Youth’, I will leave that to your own judgement, but just consider the mindset of the person who made the appointment in the first place.

Is this what we are taxed to facilitate as “policing?

Police spent four weeks tracking down a mother who joked on Facebook about throwing an egg at David Cameron, it has today been claimed.  Debra Burt said that she made the remark after becoming frustrated with government cuts. The 45-year-old from Ramsgate, Kent, wrote: ‘Cameron – I’d like to egg him’ on a friend’s Facebook timeline, during a conversation about the Prime Minister’s visit to Kent last week to witness the Archbishop of Canterbury being sworn in.

What passes as 21st century policing is far removed from what Sir Robert Peel envisaged but much closer to a Stasi State.

He writes to the Prime Minister

He alleges “a concerted establishment cover-up” of organised child abuse

He accuses the Met, Surrey, West and South Yorkshire, West Mercia, Dorset, Kent, Essex, North Wales, Suffolk and Sussex police forces of being bent and colluding in the cover up

Says he wants a police investigation of the police corruption

Good luck with that one
