nuclearsign203afp.jpgI see that the Mad Mullah’s have responded to the UN Security Council imposing sanctions on Iran by accelerating their plans to get weapons-grade uranium! This clear defiance of the UN shows the contempt in which the Mullah’s view the toothless UN tiger. But hey – with Iran being NOW viewed by the likes of the Fabulous Baker Boys as a force for "stability" – there’s nothing to worry about. Right? Unless you are a Jew…

zawahiri_afp203body.jpgAnd just so we are CLEAR as to how the Islamist killers see the US mid-term election results……

"In a portion of the tape from al Qaeda No. 2 man, Ayman al Zawahri, made available only today, Zawahri says he has two messages for American Democrats.

"The first is that you aren’t the ones who won the midterm elections, nor are the Republicans the ones who lost. Rather, the Mujahideen — the Muslim Ummah’s vanguard in Afghanistan and Iraq — are the ones who won, and the American forces and their Crusader allies are the ones who lost…."

Zawahri then calls on the Democrats to negotiate with him and Osama bin Laden, not others in the Islamic world who Zawahri says cannot help.

"And if you don’t refrain from the foolish American policy of backing Israel, occupying the lands of Islam and stealing the treasures of the Muslims, then await the same fate…."

Ok Nancy, Hillary and co –  time to start talking……? Seems the celebrations of the Dem victory DID extend to the caves where the barbarians lurk….

lockerbie 1.jpegA time of silence to remember the innocent who perished so that (allegedly) vengeance be wreaked for  the actions of the United States by the shooting-down of an Iranian Airbus during the Iran-Iraq war. After the Iranian Airbus went down, and the United States accepted responsibility, the Iranians are believed to have contacted Libya and Syria in their search for vengeance, and although two Libyans were tried, and one is serving sentence in Scotland, many believe that the prime movers for the actual attack were based within Syrian Intelligence. Their future murders and sundry terror attacks within the Lebanon, and their constant support for Hamas, amongst others, gives considerable credence to these theories, and given the bloodthirsty nature of the Syrian regime, I for one tend to believe it quite possible!

lockerbie 2.jpegRemembering Lockerbie, and the innocent who died both in the aircraft and on the ground of that sleepy little Scots town, and a ten-second silence is apposite at this time!

Corporal Bryan Budd, 3rd Battalion Parachute Regiment, was killed in Afghanistan on 20 August 2006 . He was leading his section when a planned element of surprise was lost.

"In order to regain the initiative, Corporal Budd decided to assault the enemy and ordered his men to follow him. As they moved forward the section came under a withering fire that incapacitated three of his men. The continued enemy fire and these losses forced the section to take cover. But, Corporal Budd continued the assault on his own, knowing full well the likely consequences of doing so without the close support of his remaining men. He was wounded but continued to move forward, attacking and killing the enemy as he rushed their position. Inspired by Corporal Budd’s example, the rest of the platoon reorganised and pushed forward their attack, eliminating more of the enemy and eventually forcing their withdrawal. Corporal Budd subsequently died of his wounds, and when his body was later recovered it was found surrounded by three dead Taliban.

Truly humbling.

He was awarded the Victoria Cross posthumously last week.  The Ministry of Defence has announced another 132 awards, covering operations all round the world by all three services, for the period 1 April to 30 September 2006. It includes the Military Cross awarded to Private Michelle Norris who without pausing for a second to consider her own safety, jumped on to the turret of a Warrior to aid the badly-injured vehicle commander as a sniper fired at her.

Heroes every one.

A simple rule of thumb is that if you want to know what is the correct foreign policy for our country to follow, for goodness sake ask one of those Foreign Office mandarins such as Carne Ross. Listen very carefully to what he explains. Then do the opposite.

You can read his smug revisionism of the Iraq war here, which essentially boils down to his view that Iraq did not pose a problem prior to invasion, and it would have been preferable to leave Saddam in power, old boy. This spinelessness is what one has come t associate with the F.O. – and on refection the initials of this branch of Government coincide with what I think it should do.

Islam-Britain.jpgDid you read in The Guardian that British Cabinet ministers have been told by the Foreign Office to drop the phrase ‘war on terror’ and other terms seen as liable to anger British Muslims and increase tensions more broadly in the Islamic world.

The shift apparently marks a turning point in British political thinking about the strategy against extremism and underlines the growing gulf between the British and American approaches to the continuing problem of radical Islamic militancy. It comes amid increasingly evident disagreements between President George Bush and Tony Blair over policy in the Middle East.

I’m in TOTAL AGREEMENT. Let’s drop the war on terror label, that was always a nuanced nonsense.

It’s the WAR ON MILITANT ISLAM that we are fighting. and which Islam has been happily fighting against us. I wonder will THAT term be acceptable to Blair and co? Of course not, we are fighting a war…. but we deny who we fight against, and so we make it much more likely we will lose. Our leaders appear to be already dhimmified – preparing ways to surrender to the Imams. We are being beaten by a primitive ideology, a fascism of Islam, and it is our leaders lack of backbone that is allowing this. Perhaps the very threat of another 7/7 is sufficient for the white flag to be hoisted over Downing Street?

I was pleased to read the thoughts of my former esteemed colleague Conor Cruise O’Brien on the work of the fabulous Baker boys….

The Iraq Study Group’s report, released to the newspapers on Wednesday, is a rather bizarre document.

According to the Irish Times: "A high-level bipartisan group has called for the withdrawal of all US combat forces from Iraq by early 2008 and the immediate launch of a diplomatic offensive that would involve Syria and Iran in securing Iraq’s future.

The Iraq Study Group Report also calls for a renewed and sustained US engagement in resolving the Arab-Israeli conflict leading to the return of the Golan Heights to Syria and the establishment of an independent Palestinian State. It calls for direct talks with Iran and Syria, even if Iran fails to halt its uranium enrichment programme and says Israel should return the Golan Heights to Syria as part of a Middle East peace settlement."

George Bush said he would take "very seriously" its proposals, but he stopped short of embracing them. Israel has not commented on them, but I have no doubt that its reaction will be totally negative, though delivered politely out of concern for Bush. Israel is no doubt alarmed by the anti-Israel stand of the proposals and particularly by the appeals to Syria and Iran and the proposed concessions to those countries, even if Iran continues to develop its nuclear capacity.

Israel’s overriding commitment is with the Pentagon, which for many years now has seen the country as the only thoroughly reliable ally that the US has in the Middle East. Other countries in that region bargain with the US for their own economic and technical advantage. But they do so while trying to bypass Israel. Israel’s primary concern in the region at present is Iran’s progress towards acquiring nuclear weapons. They know that if, or when, Iran does acquire nuclear weapons they will be used first against Israel. On that matter, Israel and the Pentagon have a common interest, and are always preparing for the day when they may have to attack Iran.

795151-578415-thumbnail.jpgTalk about a broken Gate. The US Defence Secretary nominee Robert Gates has laid out his credentials, as some of us forecast he would, when he told a Senate committee that the US is not winning the war in Iraq.

Asked by the next chairman of the panel, Democratic Senator Carl Levin, if he believed the US was winning, Mr Gates replied: "No, Sir."

(He later said he believed the US was neither winning nor losing, "at this point". Mr Decisive!)

795151-578411-thumbnail.jpgWell, that’s sending a message all right. I bet the US troops in the field will just love to hear Bobby-boy’s rallying cry – explaining that their sacrifice is in vain. If you are not winning, you are losing. It’s that simple and that brutal.

I dare say every Jihadist and Saddamite scumbag in downtown Baghdad will be jumping with joy as they actually watch the Great Satan’s new talking head admit de facto defeat.

But Gates wasn’t finished. He went on to say that  the US should attack Iran only as a last resort and he would not support military action against Boy Bashar in Syria. Tough talk.

Let’s review. Iran has announced its nuclear intentions and spelt out that Israel will be wiped off the map. Gates obviously believes we have to wait until the second Holocaust takes place before the US steps in. I imagine Hamas and co will have been taking notes.

Meanwhile Iran’s stool pigeon, Syria, is formenting as much trouble as possible in Iraq. But Bob’s got a plan. Yip – he wants "to talk" to them all. That’s the diplomatic way of saying sueing for surrender terms.

Replacing a man like Rumsfeld with a mouse like Gates is tragic, and Bush can be seen to have destroyed his very own doctrine. It’s a tough world we live in folks, and the barbarians will soon be at the gates.

I see that the United States has learned that Al Queda provides training, weaponry and funding to the ruling Islamic movement in Somalia. In 2006, Islamic fighters, known as the Union of Islamic Courts, took over Mogadishu and much of the country. Got that – Ossie’s gang are an active partner in the Somalia Government. I wonder how long before some "realists" in Washington suggest that we sit down and talk to the Islamic Courts?

I was shocked to read that the pusillanimous US State Department has welcomed the re-election of Venezuelan thug Hugo Chavez and "would hope that we could have a positive, constructive relationship with the government of Venezuela."

chavez-iran3.jpgApparently the..ahem… "realists" at US State actually believe that Hugo the Horrible may not be that bad after all, and despite his fiery anti-American anti-Semitic rhetoric, he might co-operate with the Great Satan! I was wondering if a lobotomy was a pre-requisite for working for US State?

It is statements like this which energise all of America’s enemies and depress the hell out of its true friends. All I can see from the US Government these days is sickening appeasement, a pathetic lame-duck President who dismisses men of stature such as Rummy and Bolton (and I’m sure Cheney is back on the quail-hunt) whilst allowing these Baker-Powell quislings in US State to now run the show.

IF US State really does think that Chavez could be a good friend to the USA, then it’s all over folks. Chavez, Ahmadinejihad, Castro,  Nasrallah, Kim Jong Il- and their torch-bearers in the liberal media, will have won.  And the beacon of freedom dims……even as the cheers from the Left grow louder.
