Here is Elvis live from last year singing a spine chilling version of “Good Year for the Roses”. When he does this live, it brings a lump to my throat. So moving….

Budgets, Debt and Deficits

By Patty On July 25th, 2011 at 6:41 pm

Bearing in mind that  Congress has as much to do with budgets –  and therefore debt and deficits –  as the President of the US,  and bearing in mind that last two years of President Bush’s presidency were ones where there was a Democrat Congressional majority, I would like to point out that since the election of President Obama, our financial problems have grown immensely.

From Heritage.org:

 • President Bush expanded the federal budget by a historic $700 billion      through 2008. President Obama would add another $1 trillion.

UPDATE: Many Obama defenders in the comments are claiming that the numbers above do not include spending on Iraq and Afghanistan during the Bush years. They most certainly do. While Bush did fund the wars through emergency supplementals (not the regular budget process), that spending did not simply vanish. It is included in the numbers above. Also, some Obama defenders are claiming the graphic above represents biased Heritage Foundation numbers. While we stand behind the numbers we put out 100%, the numbers, and the graphic itself, above are from the Washington Post. We originally left out the link to WaPo. It has now been added.”

An Update

By Patrick Van Roy On July 25th, 2011 at 6:15 pm

While the press on this side of the pond obsesses over the fake debt crises, and the press on your side of the pond obsesses on the crazed loon in Norway, other events are still going on. Like the continually unraveling cover up of the Obama regimes scheme to sell guns to the Mexican Drug Cartels to promote Gun Control here in the U.S..

Bear with me folks this maybe a long post because I am combining two stories here into one.

First off it hasn’t really started yet but it will hit full blown tilt soon I am sure, that is of course the Gun Control issue. This crazed wacko in Norway shot a hell of a lot of people. Yet Norway has very strict Gun Ownership Laws.

To own a gun in Norway, one must document a use for the gun. By far, the most common grounds for civilian ownership are hunting and sports shooting, in that order. Other needs can include special guard duties or self defence, but the first is rare unless the person shows identification confirming that he or she is a trained guard or member of a law-enforcement agency and the second is practically never accepted as a reason for gun ownership.

Obtaining a license

There are two ways of obtaining an ownership license in Norway. The most common is through the process of obtaining a hunting license, the other is through a sports shooting license.

For hunting

To obtain a hunting license, the applicant must complete a 30 hour, 9 session course and pass a written multiple choice exam. The course includes firearm theory, firearm training, wildlife theory, and environmental protection training.

Once the exam is passed, the applicant may enroll in the hunter registry and receive a hunting license. The membership must be renewed each year, through license payment. The hunting license is brought to the police station, where the applicant fills out an application for obtaining the proper firearm for his or her hunt. After evaluation, part of the application is sent back to the applicant if it was approved. Upon approval, the applicant can take the returned form to the store and purchase the firearm listed in the application.

For sports shooters

The qualification process for sporting is theoretically easier, but requires more time and practice. The applicant must enroll in a firearm safety course, lasting at least 9 hours. The course includes a written test, but is shorter than the hunting exam, as it only deals with firearm safety. Two thirds of the course is completed on the shooting range as practice. The passing of the test results in acceptance to the approved gun club, and a license for competition. However, while the hunters can obtain their firearm almost at once, sports shooters must prove their intentions to compete by actively training or competing in the gun club. This means regular attendance (at least 15 times) at gun club training over the course of six months. The applicant must use firearms owned by the club or borrowed at the range for this period. After six months, the applicant may apply for weapon ownership. The start license and a written recommendation from the gun club president are brought to the police station, and the competition class is filled out on the application. If approved, it will be returned to the applicant as with the hunter license.

So much for Gun Control, It’s not how hard you make it to own a gun, or the gun, it’s the man whose hand the gun is in. The fact is this Norwegian was crazy. He hated Muslims, was convinced multiculturalism was really Marxism, and believed he could solve the flow of “the Muslim invasion of Europe” by killing the children of those that support multiculturalism.

The guy is a NUT if Norway had any sense they would just Hang Him and be done with it.

Now back to the Obama Regime and their Idea of how to spark a stronger movement for Stricter Gun Control  here in the States.

Operation fast and furious

Beginning in 2009 and continuing to this day, Obama, Janet Napolitano and even Hillary Clinton have claimed that guns purchased in gun shops and gun shows in the U.S. are fueling the civil war between the Mexican government and the drug cartels. Now we know that Obama’s Justice Department goosed the flow of guns south with an $80 million ($10 million from the “stimulus”) ATF operation. It was not a sting, but rather a self-fulfilling prophecy.

The number of Guns that the Mexican Drug Cartels are using has been argued here multiple time, but we need to do it again.

Over the weekend, the San Francisco Chronicle ran a story with the headline, “ATF data defy theory, tie U.S. gun flow to cartels.”

Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Chuck Schumer are cited in the article demanding restoration of the expired federal ban on “assault weapons.” The senators base their demand on ATF reports that 70 percent of the 29,284 weapons recovered in cartel related crimes in Mexico and submitted to the U.S. government for tracing in 2009 and 2010 were “United States-sourced firearms.”

Given the Chronicle’s headline, you would think the cartels get all their guns from the U.S. In fact, the Mexican government confiscated more than 300,000 weapons in cartel-related actions during 2009 and 2010. Only 29,284 were submitted to the U.S. government for tracing because the rest came from other sources. And CBS News has reported that as many as 3,700 of those weapons were in Mexico courtesy of the Obama administration’s Operation Fast and Furious.

So lets crunch the numbers 29,284 guns out of 300,000 is 9%, now minus the Obama guns 3,700, and it comes down to 8%. So much for the claims of 90, 70, 80% that have been batted around. No matter how you cut it, it’s less than 10%. Our system works, that is until ATF agents are ordered to let guns be bought illegally and cross the border illegally.

Pajamas Media quotes Phil Jordan, a former CIA agent and former leader of the DEA’s El Paso Intelligence Center, claiming that the Obama administration is also running guns directly to the Zeta cartel through the State Department’s U.S. Direct Commercial Sales program. The weapons in that program include “anti-aircraft weapons and hand grenades from the Vietnam War era” as well as “grenade launchers … and military gear including night vision goggles and body armor.”

Did Obama and Attorney General Holder secretly allow U.S. purchased weapons to wind up in the hands of the Mexican drug cartels to justify a new round of federal gun-control laws? The evidence for this impeachable offense is growing.

Known Deaths from Obama Illegally Sold Guns

Agents went public to the media when these guns, identified by serial numbers, turned up at the site of shootouts with cartel gunmen that claimed the lives of U.S. Border Patrol agent Brian Terry in Arizona and ICE agent Jaime Zapata in Mexico.

The Mexican government is furious, too. These “walked” guns have been identified in the murder of more than 150 Mexican law-enforcement and military personnel in the ongoing war between the drug cartels and the Mexican government. The Mexican Congress has opened its own investigation with powerful Mexican senators calling the ATF operation an act of war on Mexico.

More hearings are being held tomorrow. So far the Justice Dept. has refused to supply subpena ordered documents, has threatened agents, and the head of the ATF about testifying, and The Attorney General has lied under oath. With the revelations so far uncovered on fast and furious, the Op. Castaway (Honduras) run out of Miami, and the allegations from Phil Jordan about direct sales this should be the Headline story on every newspaper in the country.

Inexperience and Poor Judgement

By Patty On July 25th, 2011 at 1:36 pm

Indulging in over-heated rhetoric is the stock and trade of Washington DC politicians but President Obama takes “political rhetoric” too far.

Obama is now just a bald-faced liar , and he seems to think that this is how to negotiate.  Unfortunately, President Obama is quickly becoming irrelevant because of this bad  habit.  As anyone with experience knows, you can’t negotiate with a liar.

From washingtontimes.com:

‘“I wanted to give you an update on the current situation around the debt ceiling,” Mr Obama said at 6:06 p.m. OK, that wasn’t a lie — but just about everything he said after it was, and he knows it.

“I just got a call about a half-hour ago from Speaker [John A.] Boehner, who indicated that he was going to be walking away from the negotiations,” he said.

Not so: “The White House made offers during the negotiations,” said our insider, a person intimately involved in the negotiations, “and then backtracked on those offers after they got heat from Democrats on Capitol Hill. The White House, and its steadfast refusal to follow through on its rhetoric in terms of cutting spending and addressing entitlements, is the real reason that debt talks broke down.”

Mr. Boehner was more blunt in his own news conference: “The discussions we’ve had with the White House have broken down for two reasons. First, they insisted on raising taxes. … Secondly, they refused to get serious about cutting spending and making the tough choices that are facing our country on entitlement reform.”

But back to the lying liar and the lies he told Friday. “You had a bipartisan group of senators, including Republicans who are in leadership in the Senate, calling for what effectively was about $2 trillion above the Republican baseline that theyve been working off of. What we said was give us $1.2 trillion in additional revenues,” Mr. Obama said.

That, too, was a lie.”

It’s over 100 degrees farenheit just about every where in the U.S.

I was reviewing some of the Amy Winehouse back catalogue and thought this was really poignant. Can’t help but bring a lump to the throat. What a terrific voice she had and how sad her life ended in the way it did.

Update; Can’t believe how tacky her “fans” are  – building a “shrine” outside her house with bottles of alcohol and glasses to drink from. What next – drugs hashes?

The Rushed Vote

By Patrick Van Roy On July 24th, 2011 at 12:23 pm

On Friday the  White House told Harry Reid to push Cut, Cap, and Balance to a procedural vote first thing Friday morning. The external polls has 66% of the American public in favor of a balanced budget amendment. Internal polls have it at 73%.

The vote was supposed to take place Saturday morning. All week long the Republican phone lines have been burning off the hook to stay firm and push this bill. Friday the nations 3 top radio shows were all going to push for the Democrat Senators that are up for reelection to be flooded with calls to support this Bill.

Before the end of the first show a procedural vote was pushed with no debate. The Cut, Cap, and Balance vote was 51 to 46 against, it lost by just 3 Democrat votes.

Remember to service the Debt costs 29 Billion Dollars a month, the Government takes in 175-200 Billion a month. The 14th Amendment forces the Congress to pay the Debt first as long as the Nation has a revenue stream. All the talk of default is a scare tactic. The Democrats have not presented a budget for 3 years, the President put forth his very first budget this year and it was crushed in the Senate 97 to zero. Not even one Democrat voted for it.
