Just a quick note, to say…

By ATWadmin On November 19th, 2007 at 5:27 am

…that I have decided to take a break (at least for the time being) from writing for ATW, and from blogging in general. No special reason; I just don’t feel the necessary motivation to post about current affairs, right now. I do want to say a big Thank You to David for having given me a ready-made platform on which to share my views, and I hope that some of my previous contributions have provided food for thought. I’m quite happy to roll over and make way for newer, sharper-minded contributors to inspire debate, and I’ll continue to post comments on ATW articles. Thanks, TT.

tangledpubnn0.jpgAs I said a few days ago, I am currently adding several new voices to ATW as we prepare to move on to global domination in 2008! With that in mind, I hope you will join me in welcoming Lao, an American Ex-Pat in South East Asia, who will shortly be posting here on ATW. I urge you to his visit his blog – some great posts and a nice reflective thoughtful style. Lao will add some fresh perspectives to ATW and I am sure he will enhance the appeal of our site.

Here’s an interesting insight into just how lunatic British immigration policy has become under ten years of Labour tyranny.

"An illegal immigrant has demanded to be flown home after saying he was fed up with British people – because they are "rude and unfriendly". Mokhtar Tabet, 30 – who has been given a home, food and free travel around London – claims his local council has breached his human rights by moving him to a place he does not like. He was refused asylum in 2004 and but is, unsurprisingly, still here. He said: "The council evicted me from my home in September and moved me to Streatham, which I don’t like. "The new place is small, and the kitchen closes at 9pm, so I can’t have anything to eat late at night. They have taken away my human rights."

Poor Mokhtar. But it gets worse. You see the local Council only pays his rent, his rates, and his utility bills. He is also given £32 a week in vouchers from Croydon Council to buy food with while he awaits deportation. And it’s not good enough for our angry Algerian.

"Croydon Council only gives me food vouchers, they won’t give me cash. I want the money. "I have nothing to buy new clothes with, I have to go to a refugee centre. But if there’s not anything nice there, you leave with nothing. "I want the council to give me a bigger flat and money instead of vouchers."

Now it’s worth enquiring as to why  Mokhtar came to the UK. Turns out he left Algeria in 2002 after being arrested for refusing to give up his home so the army could monitor terrorist activity in his town. He needed to find a country where terrorist activity was not monitored so closely so naturally the UK came to mind so over he came!

This is the state the UK has been reduced to by the feckless immigration policy pursued by our political elite. This Algerian should never have been allowed into the UK for starters and the fact that he has been the recipient of State Welfare, (but not enough for his high standards evidently) means that he should be put on the next plane back to Algeria where no doubt he can obtain the cash and benefits that even the UK cannot provide.

tangledpubnn0.jpgYou either go forward or you go backwards. (Unless you’re a liberal in which case you go sidewards but nobody cares!) As in life, so in blogs.

ATW has been through quite a bit of change over recent months with some of our contributing writers leaving us, (Richard, Andrew) others joining us (Mahons) and old warhorses like me relentlessly staying at the centre of it all. I am indebted to ALL those who take the time to come here and blog. However I feel we need more bloggers to our roster to ensure that the daily output stays frequent and high quality – (esp when I am otherwise engaged) plus you cannot get enough of good writing!

And so, I have been looking to add some of the best new bloggers to our transatlantic team and with that in mind, I would like to announce that ATW will henceforth include Jammie Wearing Fool.

JWF won 2007 Weblog  BEST NEW BLOG and is an excellent site for ATW to be associated with.  JWF is original, witty and insightful and I am sure can make a great contribution here.  I hope you will provide a warm if not positively molten ATW welcome to JWF (Yea, we are going acronymic crazy!)

I hope to announce further new names very shortly – and all to ensure that you get a lively daily read of the best "shoot from the hip" writing on the blogosphere!

I don’t think I do enough of these but anyway, here’s a thread for you to talk about whatever is on your mind and that you’d like to share….

Hearts_and_minds.jpgOff to record my "If you ask me" contribution for the BBC’s "Hearts and Minds." You can catch it later this evening on BBC2 at 7.30pam and BBC1 at 11.30pm. Hope you will like it – I try to take no prisoners and the script is pretty hard-hitting I think. Not so much room for jokes this time round, recent events preclude that. Also, I will be on the "Nolan Show" on BBC Radio Ulster on Friday am discuss the Budget which Peter Robinson is due to give later. That should be a laugh and I look forward to exposing it in the morning!

yellow_rose_texas_l3.jpgI wanted to take a minute out of the blogging day to bestow a new ATW award entitled "The Yellow Rose of Texas" upon a regular reader and contributor to this site who has gone out of their way to further advance ATW stories. Can you guess who it is? Yes – it’s Daphne! Alison has already referred to this and I wanted to ad my tuppence worth as Daphne has played a key role in bringing Alison’s recent blog on Laura Bush to global attention. I think all of us who write here do so with passion and belief – but the really big deal is that so many of you echo this in your own contribituons, and none more so than Daphne. So, at the risk of causing her to blush, ATW salutes you Daphne for all that you do! Now all we need to do is to get some of these blog-monster journals to attribute ATW as the source of their stories!

Hearts_and_minds.jpgJust to let you all know that I will be appearing on BBC’s "Hearts and Minds" this Thursday night doing the "If You Ask Me" slot. Given current events in Northern Ireland, it could not be better timed for my point of view. Tune in and watch me – if you dare! Grrr. I’ll also be appearing on the Nolan Show on Radio Ulster tomorrow morning to discuss the weighty matter as to whether or not a single lady should take her husbands name when they get married!!! Thought and suggestions on that one please!

Hi Folks. Just to say I am a little unwell at the moment and not feeling well enough to blog. Have lost my voice – mind clearly already gone! Hope to be back tomorrow.
