I read that the British and Irish governments have snubbed prominent anti-terrorist figures who fearlessly campaigned against the Provisional IRA.
The guest list includes such celebrity personalities as Amanda Brunker and Lorraine Keane, as well as television presenter Terry Wogan, chef Rachel Allen, Nama developer Harry Crosbie and model Erin O’Connor. In marked contrast, leading peace campaigners such as Chris Hudson MBE and Barbara Fitzgerald CBE, and media figures such as Kevin Myers, Eoghan Harris and Ruth Dudley Edwards, have not been invited to any official events relative to the visit this week of Queen Elizabeth.
Whilst I have no problem with the Queen going to Ireland, I am very uncomfortable with the paying OF tribute to those who murdered her own subjects. To add further shame, the two governments are clearly and wilfully now vanquishing those who to their credit stood against the IRA. It’s a farce – and I will not be watching it.

I don’t blame the Queen. I don’t blame President McAleese, I blame David Cameron. What for? The planned ritual humiliation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth when she visits the Irish Republic next week.
“The trip will combine visits to historically significant sites with tourist attractions. The BBC’s royal correspondent Nicholas Witchell said the most notably symbolic event was the ceremony at the Garden of Remembrance, where all those who gave their lives in the cause of Irish freedom and stood against the Crown are commemorated. He said it was not known whether the Queen would lay a wreath.
In Dublin, the Queen will attend events at Trinity College Dublin, the National War Memorial Gardens in Islandbridge and at Croke Park stadium. The ground is the home of Gaelic football where, in 1920 during the Irish War of Independence, British forces fired into the crowd at a football match, killing 14 spectators and players.”
This is what is called rubbing your nose in it. WHY should the Queen honour those who fought AGAINST British forces and killed them? Why should she go to Croke Park given the vehement anti-British ethos of the G.A.A.? The answer is because Cameron and his officials allow it. Her Majesty goes where she is told. This itinerary is shameful and it is insulting to all British people that David Cameron allows it. Maybe he needs to do a u-turn over this like virtually everything else?
