More than 1m illegal immigrants are living in Britain — double the government’s most recent estimate, according to a study.
The report warns that a proposed amnesty for illegal immigrants could add a total of 2.2m to the population because each of the 1.1m “regularised” illegals would be entitled to bring at least one spouse, child or other family member into Britain. The report is a direct challenge to Nick Clegg, the Liberal Democrat leader, who has proposed an amnesty for long-term illegal residents who have been here for 10 years.
Unfettered Immigration into this country is a huge issue and the impact it has on our already stretched public resources is massive. Labour and Lib-Dems seek to destroy the UK by using immigration as a battering ram for radical local engineering and the reality is we need an immediate moratorium.
Amidst our puny thoughts of politics, spare a thought for those missing, now presumed presumed dead, from the Deepwater Horizon, whose girders, casings, machinery and cavernous spaces must now act as the communal grave for eleven oil workers who have gone down to that sea for the final time.
This group from Birmingham was fronted by Neville John Holder (known to us all as ‘Noddy’) and included Dave Hill and Jim Lea. Initially recording under the name Steve Brett and the Mavericks, they went on to become the most popular British band of the early 1970s. Their fourth 45 single released under their familiar name was the first of more than 30 UK hits – including six UK number 1s. They also had six UK-only Top 20 LPs including three number 1s. In America their only chart success came in 1984. The group were also featured on a Jive Bunny chart topper in 1989. Noddy Holder is now a professional DJ and had a show for many years on Manchester’s Key 103 radio station.
This week’s offering entered the charts at number 3 and climbed one place. It was kept off the top spot by Ken Boothe’s Everything I Own. This particular group were known for the ‘loudness’ of their recordings and this one certainly doesn’t disappoint in that regard. I first heard this song on Radio 1 whilst travelling on a very lonely and isolated road between Aberfoyle and Inversnaid in Scotland in the summer of 1990.
Ladies and gentlemen, from October 1974, I give you Slade singing ‘Far Far Away’.
The Government has apologised to the Pope over official documents that mocked his forthcoming visit to Britain by suggesting he should bless a gay marriage and even launch Papal-branded condoms. Or open an abortion clinic.
Sunday morning some thirty-odd thousand runners will run just over 26 miles through the streets of London, all in aid of various charities. Now their endeavours are both noble and good, and I would hope that no-one considers this post any attack on their sweat, training and hard work.
.
I wonder however how many of the 30,000 odd runners watched the Dispatches film on the 9th April regarding their investigation of the finances behind both the Marathon Charity, and the private Trading Company which sells spare marathon slots for up to £6,000.00.
.
As the accounts of the London Marathon are carefully shrouded from scrutiny, along with it’s shadow trading Company, neither Dispatches not anyone else has been able to breach the walls surrounding the financial information, I am happy to furnish just one little bite from the Charity Commission’s website on the Marathon’s Accounts, and it is this:-
.
There is exactly one employee who earns over £240,000 per annum from the Charity’s Income. I wonder how many of the runners know that they are subsiding this bloke, who really is on a nice little earner!
I see that Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas today called on the US to “impose” a solution to the Middle-East conflict.
Nice. That’s Pali-democracy, just IMPOSE what you want if you can’t get it any other way,
Abbas made a direct plea to president Obama to ensure Palestinians were given an independent state. He also rejected the idea of a state with “temporary borders”, reportedly being offered Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The Obama administration are pushing for a firm peace deal between the Israelis and Palestinians and have sent the president’s middle-east envoy George Mitchell to the region to try to bring the two leaders back to the table.
Anything that involves Mitchell is never going to work out well. And Netanyahu should not be offering any “temporary borders”.
The media give Vince Cable such an easy ride. I suppose his nice liberal credentials get their hearts all a flutter. Here is a great example of how lightweight Cable is when people actually consider what he says..
Great to see that Gordon Brown is alive and well, despite the fact many consider him politically dead. Here he is pictured with the man destined to lead the Labour Party after him.
ATW does not operate on fresh air! We have running costs and if you want to give us a hand, once a year, then HIT THE TIP and feed the beast that is our hosting company!
You do not defeat terrorism by rewarding terrorists, regardless of how many bleeding heart liberals argue otherwise. Want to know where that flawed approach leads to? Read UNIONISM DECAYED 1997-2007 - It's my first book and it explains what happens when you seeek to appease terrorists and call it peace. It's available right now for ATW readers so make sure you get your copy by emailing the editor! This is the book that dissents from the herd mentality that doing wrong can lead to being right. It doesn't and this book spells out WHY.
