THE TOXICITY OF THE HUMAN RIGHTS INDUSTRY…

By David Vance On June 1st, 2011 at 8:39 am

Wonder what you make of the news that a prisoner is being allowed to become a father from behind bars because of his “human rights.”

The inmate’s demand for artificial insemination with his partner was approved by our dripping wet liberal  Justice Secretary Kenneth Clarke earlier this year. It is thought the treatment, which can cost up to £2,000 a time, is being paid for by the NHS. The decision was based on the  prisoner’s ‘right to family life’ under Article 8 of the Human Rights Act. The case follows that of burglar Wayne Bishop who was let out of jail last week so he could look after his children, using the same article.

So, WE are paying through our taxes for this prisoner to propagate his family line!

I agree with Tory MP Douglas Carswellwho says: ‘What’s the point of having a criminal justice system that locks people up if they end up with the same rights as others? ‘It’s another step towards an insane world where criminals have more rights than the rest of us.’

That “insane world” Carswell talks about is the utopia that liberals advocate through their ludicrous Human Rights Act. The UK must remove itself from the creeping toxicity of that law before we find criminals DO have more rights than the rest of us.

Conan Doyle vindicated

As a blogging colleague of ours would state:-

No Shit,  Sherlock!

As this occurrence was literally a ‘first’, both in terms of the magnitude of the earthquake, the size and velocity of the tsunami, the engineering and preparedeness excellence usually shown by Japan, and the fact that few if any had ever considered that the emergency power facilities were vulnerable to an event of unimaginable fury, why didn’t the UN IAEAgency just state that Japan had things as ready as any, and more than most, and leave it like that?

THE NEW PURITANISM OR MODESTY BY THE SEA?

By David Vance On June 1st, 2011 at 8:30 am

An interesting development in Barcelona is reported here.

The Catalan capital has prohibited beachwear beyond the playa in an attempt to clean up its image and rid the city streets of unsightly flesh. The by-law has been introduced following a long campaign by residents and local businesses sick of the sight of tourists wandering around the streets, dining in restaurants and visiting shops in various states of undress. ”Some people who live here are bothered by tourists who go about wearing just a bikini in the street, or men with their shirts off,” said Assumpta Escarp, a Barcelona councillor who fought for the ban. ”We have to maintain standards.” Barcelona’s urban police force will be able to impose on the spot penalties to those who refuse to cover up

Not sure what to make of this.

On the one hand, a little modesty from tourists would be no bad thing when they go abroad. Furthermore some  of those waddling around half-undressed are a crime to their creator so making them cover it some of the acres of flesh has an aesthetic benefit. On the other hand, these tourists are providing the cash to keep the bankrupt Portuguese economy afloat so maybe a little bit more tolerance from the locals? Also, isn’t it a bit fascist to TELL people how they must dress? I criticise those who would make women wear Burqas, so I have to be consistent and express alarm when people are told not to wear bikinis. I always think it could when “in Rome you do as the Romans”.

That’s why when I am down on the Cote D’Azure in a few weeks I shall show my respect for French culture by donning a blue and white stripped t-shirt, a beret, a comedy moustache  and of course wrapping some garlic around my neck.

Who Moved the MSM’s Cheese?

By Patty On June 1st, 2011 at 1:54 am

The MSM has been out of sorts the past few days because Palin has not given them a detailed itinerary of  her One Nation Bus Tour. Below,  Rush Limbaugh describes the “discombobulated media” following Palin around, and political commentator, David Brooks,  who has been complaining that Palin is not a “team player.”

“Just… (laughing) She’s just not doing anything the way she’s supposed to, folks! Not doing anything according to the rules, not doing anything according to the way the ruling class elites say it should be done.  She’s not doing anything right. (interruption) Well, I don’t know what he thinks would tick off the rank and file.  I don’t know whether she’s running or not.  I just find their reaction to her over the top.  They  are totally discombobulated.  They can’t stand it. They can’t stand any of it. They can’t stand the fact that she’s happy, they can’t stand the fact she’s making money, they can’t stand the fact she’s got a bus and she’s got the family on the bus. She’s traveling around, and they can’t stand the fact that she’s not telling anybody where she’s going.

They can’t stand the fact she didn’t call the Republican Party in New Hampshire. They can’t stand the fact that she’s not a team player.  Of course, when she was on the team, where were they?  They were doing everything they could… (interruption) They weren’t stabbing her in the back, Snerdley. They were stabbing her in the front trying to get rid of her.  They weren’t stabbing her in the back…”
