THE MARK OF CIVILISATION

By David Vance On February 10th, 2012 at 8:45 am

I have long argued that how a society treats its elderly is the mark of a civilisation. So I was pretty disgusted at this news;

Elderly people should be encouraged to go back to work and move into smaller homes, one of David Cameron’s key advisers said last night.

David Halpern, a senior No.10 aide, said loneliness was a “more powerful predictor” of whether a pensioner would be alive for more than a decade than whether they smoked. He also suggested that elderly people who did not move to smaller homes were contributing to the shortage of housing in England. On an official visit to Sweden, the Prime Minister and some of his key advisers discussed radical plans on retirement with their Scandinavian counterparts. Mr Cameron said he supported plans to increase the retirement age in line with life expectancy which could see workers remaining in employment until well into their seventies.

When someone in Government talks about “encouraging” the elderly to leave their large houses and move into smaller ones, I get worried. One moment it is “encouragement” the next it is coercion. As for making the elderly working into their 7th decade, that should be their choice.

THE BONUS JIHAD

By David Vance On February 10th, 2012 at 8:39 am

Despite the UK media obsessing on banker bonusus, it seems to me that crony corporatism is where attention should be directed;

The woman appointed by David Cameron to get problem families back into work pocketed £8.6million last year – most of it from the taxpayer. Emma Harrison paid herself the huge dividend from her firm A4e, which makes all its UK income from state contracts. The payout is up 300 per cent on the year before even though MPs say the company’s record on job schemes is ‘abysmal’.

That £8.6m dwarfs the amount that was being considered but turned down by RBS CEO Stephen Hester (£1.2M) I am an advocate of BONUS culture but on the strict conditionality of achievement of specified targets. If such achievement creates wider wealth again, then this is virtuous and should be encouraged. The bonus jihad led by politicians is very dangerous. Yes, the likes of the A4e situation is troubling but that should not translate into a full on Jihad against bonus culture, especially in the wealth creating Private Sector

I HATE TO SAY I TOLD YOU SO …

Well done Tory voters. I bet you were chuffed when you got rid of that dreadful Labour bunch and its hectoring, nanny-knows-best government, eh? You were told, oh you were told, but you just can’t help being duped time and time again, can you?

(Isn’t that a face made for slapping?)

So well done, Tory drones. The PM is even matching Harriet the Mad Harman. Reports The Telegraph: “Speaking at an event in Sweden, the Prime Minister said he does not “favour” quotas that dictate the proportion of women sitting on company boards.”

But?

“But he said the Government is prepared to consider introducing such laws if companies do not tackle their lack of female representation at the top.”

The Tory PM does not favour telling businessmen to run their own firms on Marxist-feminist lines, but he’ll make them do so. Listen, Tory drones, do us all a favour before the next election and top yourselves, please?

TWO CHEEKS OF THE SAME BACKSIDE

I see that a poll has twenty per cent of Republicans leaning towards Obama. If each party and almost all candidates believe essentially the same things, so what?

“BANK OF ENGLAND INJECTS £50BN INTO ECONOMY”

By Pete Moore On February 9th, 2012 at 4:29 pm

Thus runs the obsequious headline in The Telegraph.

Yes, Central People’s Monetary Committee of Bank of England counterfeits our money yet again, steals yet more of it, chooses to inflate away yet more of its value and stick it yet again to people on private pensions and fixed incomes.

Central People’s Monetary Committee of Bank of England said without more stimulus, “inflation was more likely to fall below the 2pc target in the medium-term”.

Yes, because falling prices, meaning that we become more wealthy, is somehow a bad thing. It remains that state monetary policy is to steal half the value of your money every 35 years.

SECURE BENEATH THE WATCHFUL SKIES

By Pete Moore On February 9th, 2012 at 2:16 pm

A bill passed by Congress this week paves the way for the use of surveillance drones in American skies. The FAA predicts that by 2020 there could be up to 30,000 drones in operation. It’s not known yet what farmers think but the military-industrial complex was said to be quite happy.

Maybe some of these drones will be deployed above LA County, where an ordinance allows for $1000 to be looted from anyone who throws a football or frisbee on a beach.

Citizens are reminded that America is the Land of the Free.

THERE’S NOT EVEN A DEBATE ANY LONGER

By Pete Moore On February 9th, 2012 at 1:09 pm

As European bones crack in the ongoing, intense cold I’m sure I speak for all in thanking the god of wind farms that these marvellous contraptions are whirring away to keep the heat on. However, there are a few things bear noting, some “anomolies” if you like. Strange to say, none of this can be found this today on the BBC environment page:

Scientists are stunned to discover Himalayan glaciers have lost no ice in the last decade.

Scientists are stunned to discover that the polar caps are losing much less ice than thought (or hope?)

Body blow to global warmening believers as German media turns heretical: “THE CO2 LIE – Renowned team of scientists claim the climate catastrophe is fear-mongering by politics“

Body Blow 2: German climate alarmist Fritz Vahrenholt “feels duped on climate change”. Reports Der Spiegel: Vahrenholt’s skepticism started when he was asked to review an IPCC report on renewable energy. He found hundreds of errors. When he pointed them out, IPCC officials simply brushed them aside. Stunned, he asked himself, “Is this the way they approached the climate assessment reports?”

There’s not even a debate to be had any more on this. Warming is over, as the sun dims the new normal is setting in.

ABU QATADA – SHOULD HE STAY OR SHOULD HE GO?

By David Vance On February 9th, 2012 at 9:24 am

I’ll be debating with Mike Mansfield QC on the BBC Nolan Show this morning @ 10am whether it is right that Islamic Jihad preacher, Abu Qatada, should be allowed to remain in the UK and indeed be released from prison? My view in summary – send him on the next flight to Jordan. And make him  pay for it.

Laissez-faire, in spades

By Mike Cunningham On February 9th, 2012 at 9:15 am

We were told yesterday that the NHS Southampton and Solent NHS Trust had authorised ‘health’ teams to visit nine schools in their area to advise schoolchildren of the need to have a ‘Contraceptive Device’ fitted in order to prevent unwanted pregnancies. The youngest child who took advantage of this scheme was apparently thirteen. All this was done without a single parental consent being required, and this again was done in line with present day rules on ‘confidentiality’.

The thirteen year-old trollop featured in the article stated :- “‘The implant works really well and I think it is a good service. I think it has really helped me because if I am with my boyfriend and we feel like having sex, I have the peace of mind knowing that I am OK. At the time I didn’t want to tell my mum because there are some things you don’t want to talk to your parents about.’

The Brooks Clinic representative, when questioned on the BBC today Programme stated that all they were concerned about was making sure that ‘clients’ were fully aware of the ‘benefits’ of contraceptive devices in ensuring that there were no unwanted pregnancies, and that sexual disease was kept at bay.

I do believe that the fact that sex with a minor below the age of sixteen is still a criminal offence was mentioned once during the BBC interview, but only once!

Dependency Index Surges 23% Under President Obama

By JOHN MERLINE, INVESTOR’S BUSINESS DAILY

The American public’s dependence on the federal government shot up 23% in just two years under President Obama, with 67 million now relying on some federal program, according to a newly released study by the Heritage Foundation.

The conservative think tank’s annual Index of Dependence on Government tracks money spent on housing, health, welfare, education subsidies and other federal programs that were “traditionally provided to needy people by local organizations and families.”

The two-year increase under Obama is the biggest two-year jump since Jimmy Carter was president, the data show.

The rise was driven mainly by increases in housing subsidies, an expansion in Medicaid and changes to the welfare system, along with a sharp rise in food stamps, the study found.

“You can’t get around the fact that policy decisions made over the past two years, on top of those made over the past several decades, are having a large effect on the pace of growth of the index,” said William Beach, who authored the Heritage study.

Government dependence has climbed steadily since 1962, (the start of LBJS great society) when the index stood at 19. By 1980, the index had risen to 100. It stood at 294 in 2010, the last year for which the data are available. D.C.-based Heritage has produced the index for nine years.

The report also found that spending on “dependence programs” accounts for more than 70% of the federal budget. That, too, is up dramatically. In 1990, for example, the figure stood at 48.5%, and in 1962 just over a quarter of federal spending went to dependence programs.

At the same time, fewer Americans pay income taxes, the report notes. Almost half (49.5%) didn’t pay income taxes in 2009, the latest year for which the researchers have data. Back in the late 1960s, only 12% of Americans escaped the income tax burden.

Other findings:

The number of people dependent on the federal government shot up 7.5% in the past two years.

In 2010, for the first time ever, average spending on dependence programs per recipient exceeded the country’s per-capita disposable income.

The dependency index has dipped only seven times in the past 49 years, three of which were under President Reagan and two under President Clinton. (all dips the direct result of proven conservative principals)

Some observers say the rise in dependence under Obama is merely a reflection of the deep and long recession.

But Beach says his team’s research shows that economic effects account for only one-fifth of the change in the index.

The other 4/5s are a direct result of the failure of government instituted socialism evoked by LBJ as he even laughed “I’ll have those n*ggers voting Democratic for the next 200 years.” he wasn’t talking about those of us of African decent.

Him and the rest of the progressives goal was and is to enslave us all, with only government to fill our needs. are you a slave? do you live by the grace of what is stolen from others? ls this what you dreamed of as a child?

Shame on all of us, you give and take a hand UP, not a hand OUT…..
