PATHETIC AND DERANGED

By ATWadmin On April 19th, 2007

vt.jpgYes, I’m sure we all have all now seen the video sent by Virginia Tech mass murderer Cho Seung-hui to NBC by now. What did you make of it? I just thought he came across as a pathetic little creep, blaming the world for his all-too-apparent inadeqacies. He was also obviously deranged – I mean how many people would take time out from a mass killing frenzy to post a package? As is always the way in these situations, everyone is wise after the event. But the truth is that this 23 year old carried out brutal murders in the most evil way imaginable. (I did notice that the BBC were able to discern references to Jesus Christ in his ramblings but oddly enough remained mute on the Islamic references written on his arms. Oh well – when all else fails, blame Christianity, blame the NRA, blame everything and everyone but the little miserable murderer himself.) He was also on some sort of perverse ego-trip and so I choose NOT to use his image again in any discussions on this issue. Instead, I leave you with an image of a memorial at Virginia Tech to all those poor kids slaughtered by this monster. It is their families we should pray for – and let Seung-Hui go to hell.

  1. David,

"I did notice that the BBC were able to discern references to Jesus Christ in his ramblings but oddly enough remained mute on the Islamic references written on his arms. Oh well – when all else fails, blame Christianity…"

Far be it for me to coach my gran in the noble craft of egg-sucking, but this reference in the Bible may have escaped your attention:

"And Abram was fourscore and six years old, when Hagar bare Ishmael to Abram.
    (Genesis 16:16)"

Abraham and his sons being common to Jewish, Christian and Islamic belief, is there any reason to suppose that this Christian lunatic should have made a lightning conversion to Islam before going on his slaughter binge?

  2. Dawkins,

On what basis do you conclude thatSeung-hui was a "Christian lunatic"? The words he used to sign his note and also written on his arms use the Islamic spelling. Try and keep up. I suspect he was of no religious ethos – which makes him rather like, erm, you.

  3. Dawkins – Ismael’s split is the beginning of Islam whose casting out made him the father of the Arabs. He is a plain nutjob. However. He seems to draw on many influences. If you read all his manifesto his ‘romantic’ influences are far and wide – his anger is directed at debauchery (where have we heard that before?)- he draws on al qaeda, references them, and calls himself the anti terrorist, calls on a revolution, nailing himself to the cross, poses in video martydom. It struck me how very much this strong multi media style of modern terrorism has impacted on this deranged young man and others who would go down this sort of route in search of t’beliefs’ or to demnstrate their anger or lash out …in the exact same way as morons feel the Iraq war is an excuse to strap a bomb to themselves and havent we spent countless hours with the MSM determined to source this for their anger. The influence of all of this romantic revolutionary bullshit is disturbing and like any of these idiots their reasons and whys are nonsense. Whats of a concern is how they are left to fester into these deranged idiots. I dont see christianity channeling this into any focused sort of campaign though or think he was able to draw strength from his local churchgoers.

  4. David,

"On what basis do you conclude thatSeung-hui was a "Christian lunatic"?"

Er, I’m going by his own words:

"Thanks to you, I die like Jesus Christ, to inspire generations of the weak and the defenseless people."

"The words he used to sign his note and also written on his arms use the Islamic spelling."

So now you expect a lunatic to spell correctly? BTW how do you spell Abraham? Like in that verse of Genesis I quoted above?

"I suspect he was of no religious ethos – which makes him rather like, erm, you."

You can suspect all you want. Seems it’s all you’ve been doing so far. To bring Islam into this, as you did yesterday, was trying to pin the blame on your favourite boogeyman. The man was deranged. We can’t understand the "motives" of the deranged. Don’t even try.

  5. Alison,

You posted while I was writing mine. You’re right: this guy was a product of our times, influences from all quarters. I was just a bit annoyed that David once again makes a swipe at the Beeb for seemingly playing down the Islamic "dimension" to all this. There isn’t one — I think.

  6. Dawkins,

    Rubbish.

We are very clear on his motives, he sought to murder as many as possible. Perhaps the secular mind struggles to understand this since it obviates away from the concept of evil. That’s your problem, not mine.

Last time I checked my New Testament, Jesus Christ did not murder dozens and then commit suicide. The comparison Seung-hui makes with Christ is worthless.

Whether YOU like it or not, the words HE enscribed on his arms and on his note have a clear Islamic root and the MSM steered away from it. Once more, in the traditon of "fauxtography", the MSM failed to bring inconvenient facts to those who use it. Little wonder our site traffic surged. I doubt he was a follower of Islam though since I suspect he was too deranged for that, thought of course that did not stop Atta and the boys murdering thousands and taking their own miserable lives in the process.

  7. Im a bit confused here David, your playing up the writing on his hand as being Islamic in origin and playing down his verbal statements which are Christian.

    He was simple deranged.

  8. Kloot,

I’m saying the MSM avoided mentioning the Islamic references but gave coverage to the "Christian" ones. It’s media bias I’m on about – the guy was clearly deranged. The MSM is not deranged, just biased!!!

  9. Fair enough David. I see your point. Ive not had a lot of time to read alot of media output on this so I wouldnt have noticed myself

  10. David,

"I’m saying the MSM avoided mentioning the Islamic references but gave coverage to the "Christian" ones."

So how did you hear about the Islamic references? Not from the MSM surely.

  11. NO. On the web. I posted so at the time.

  12. DV: "NO. On the web. I posted so at the time"

Yes, I see that Little Green Footballs are desperately trying to lock the knees under this story too.

LGF – Virginia Tech Killer: Ignoring the Elephant

Get Fox News onto it, guys. If they keep repeating this supposition, it will become a fact.

  13. David,

"NO. On the web. I posted so at the time."

Fair enough, but I think you’ll find that the MSM worldwide covered this amply two days ago. I read it first in the Chicago Tribune, hardly a samizdat sheet.

  14. As one of your commentators rightly pointed out in an obsevation elsewhere, you don’t have to be ‘Deranged’ to be a killer; Dr.Harold Shipman was’nt. He executed about 200 people.

This bloke was consumed with hatred for everyone, and a deep pity for his own useless existance.

  15. David,

"The words he used to sign his note and also written on his arms use the Islamic spelling. Try and keep up."

I know you’re keeping up, so you’ll be aware that he wrote "Ishmael" not "Ismail" on the package he posted. Any theories on the discrepancy in spelling?

  16. Yes, he was a deranged evil killer,.

  17. Here are some of the key words from the movie Oldboy that they reckon inspired this guy:

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0364569/keywords

Described by one commentere at IMDB thus:

If you can’t handle extremely strong violence, torture, sex and language and can’t stand subtitles it’s best you stay far away from Oldboy….if you can, though, then watch it! It’s an incredible movie with some of the best performances, a moving score and a disturbing but unique plot with twist after twist.

The poster art shows a deranged bloke called Choi holding a hammer.

  18. David,

"Yes, he was a deranged evil killer,."

Sorry, was that a reply to my post of 12.29 or to my earlier posts re Ishmael/Ismail?

  19. Dawkins,

To your 12.29. Now I’m getting bored with this. The guy was an evil swine, who deserves no sympathy. I have pointed out the MSM did NOT cover the issue of what he had written on his own arms, and had it not been for the blogosphere, this would not have made news.

  20. David: Agreed let us focus on the victims and not the killer’s psychotic video.

  21. I have pointed out the MSM did NOT cover the issue of what he had written on his own arms, and had it not been for the blogosphere, this would not have made news.

That is correct. In fact the London Paper last night specifically cited bloggers as having unearthed this and cited links to Islam asking questions.

  22. David,

So now you’re getting bored? I’m getting rather bored with your ducking and weaving. I know it’s difficult for an Ulsterman to admit he made a mistake or two and get on with it. Believe me, contrary to what you may believe, people generally respect a man who admits he’s been wrong.

So, to relieve your boredom, here are my last words on the matter.

    1. The MSM gave extensive coverage to "Ismail Ax" on Cho’s arm. If you don’t believe me, google it and peruse the links to MSM media that covered it.

    2. You wrote that "the words HE enscribed on his arms and on his note have a clear Islamic root and the MSM steered away from it" yet failed to mention the "Ishmael" spelling on his package, which is the Christian or Jewish spelling.

    3. I pointed out that Cho’s lack of orthographic consistency may have been due to his lunacy. At least we can agree on that.

Now, off to do some work. Enjoy the rest of the day.

  23. David’s point about the MSM has alot of merit, and the intitial reporting on the tattoo came from Instapundit, which LGF picked up.

The guy was a deranged bastard, not a religous terrorist.

OT, I’ve been thinking about his parents and sister, who from the little reported, seem to have been decent hardworking people. I feel very badly for them. What a terrible legacy their son has left them to deal with.

  24. I was very dissapointed. I was hoping to see a deranged, evil genius. He just came across as… stupid.

  25. ‘and let Seung-Hui go to hell’

    good christian sentiments there

  26. I think he was just deranged. If his slogans (we don’t really know how they fit into his belief system) prove him an Islamic terrorist, then I’m surprised that his anti-rich comments don’t make him a leftist as far as certain ATW posters are concerned.

  27. I’m not watching the video. I’m not learning the name. I’m turning away from his photo.

May his victims rest in peace, and may the victims’ families and friends find solace and comfort in the love which does surround them.
