Who Moved the MSM’s Cheese?

By Patty On June 1st, 2011

The MSM has been out of sorts the past few days because Palin has not given them a detailed itinerary of  her One Nation Bus Tour. Below,  Rush Limbaugh describes the “discombobulated media” following Palin around, and political commentator, David Brooks,  who has been complaining that Palin is not a “team player.”

“Just… (laughing) She’s just not doing anything the way she’s supposed to, folks! Not doing anything according to the rules, not doing anything according to the way the ruling class elites say it should be done.  She’s not doing anything right. (interruption) Well, I don’t know what he thinks would tick off the rank and file.  I don’t know whether she’s running or not.  I just find their reaction to her over the top.  They  are totally discombobulated.  They can’t stand it. They can’t stand any of it. They can’t stand the fact that she’s happy, they can’t stand the fact she’s making money, they can’t stand the fact she’s got a bus and she’s got the family on the bus. She’s traveling around, and they can’t stand the fact that she’s not telling anybody where she’s going.

They can’t stand the fact she didn’t call the Republican Party in New Hampshire. They can’t stand the fact that she’s not a team player.  Of course, when she was on the team, where were they?  They were doing everything they could… (interruption) They weren’t stabbing her in the back, Snerdley. They were stabbing her in the front trying to get rid of her.  They weren’t stabbing her in the back…”

  1. Photo and “thought” from the Rush Limbauh website.

  2. Good job pointing out the obvious, Mahon. However, the blog caption is mine and my amusement at Palin’s ability to make her detractors sweat – especially the media – is shared by many.

Palin is remarkable for one so “stupid,” don’t you think?

  3. Remarkable for finding so many dumb bunnies willing to part with their hard earned cash and mindless affection.

I find it amazing, three years down the road, that our take-back-America, tea party, constitution loving conservatives find anything at all appealing about this woman who sounds remarkably like Bush with every utterance.

Palin’s a neo-con. She’s of exactly the same stripe that helped pave the way to our nation’s current state of near disaster.

I don’t understand how any fiscal, smaller, smarter government, constitutionally focused conservatives can support Palin. She’s shown herself to be the complete antithesis of those solid ideals.

  4. She took the name of her tour from Dylan’s mid-70’s Rolling Thunder tour of the States. Dylan’s tour was also spontaneous and the itinerary was decided at short notice; it also had a general carnival atmosphere and was made up of a loose coterie of screwballs.

  5. Yaaayy President Palin!
Thats going to upset lots of blue noses.

  6. The Times they are a Palin….

  7. From VP candidate that excited the country, to washed up biker chick. It’s been a helluva ride.

Her sycophants, toadies and lackies here must beware.

Your comments above will be well remembered, and some of us will use them against you with malicious gusto in the near future.

  8. Yes.

The supporter of the Bridge to Nowhere, perhaps the most useless project proposed in recent US history, is supported by dumb clucks who think that she is for ” smaller government ”

There are no words strong enough to properly describe the inanity of her followers. They are politically useless, and they are Obama’s best allies.

  9. Phantom

The Palin acolytes here were also very quiet about the fact that the Biker veterans were not happy that she hijacked their event for her own pre-election purposes and was not invited by them to speak but held court anyway. She used the memorial weekend for her own political purposes and it did not go down well. By all means her fans can support her by they should also be willing to acknowledge when she acts crassly as she did this last weekend.

  10. I find Palin less stupid than those who support her every move. This cheesey path she’s taken would strike me as one which most people could see through.

  11. Colm – In for a penny in for a pound. One can not support Palin without doing so 100% because it requires such a suspension of reason to do so even in the snallest part. Accordingly, a person who argues that Palin could actually be a good President is already so far gone that they simply are incapable of any serious criticism of her – to begin to see her from a rational basis is to end one’s support for her.

  12. Colm: You’re wrong. Palin was indeed invited and welcome. Your information is incomplete based on an incorrect news report.

Here’s the corrected version from HotAir:

“There’s a problem with this story, but to be fair to everyone, it seems to be an honest case of an internal miscommunication at Rolling Thunder. After I read this story last night, I got in contact with Christine Colborne, who handles the media for Rolling Thunder. She explained that Shpak didn’t know that Palin had been indeed invited to ride at the event. The invitation came from a retired board member, Michael DiPaolo, who had connections in Alaska and got Palin to agree to attend.

Requests for high-profile personalities to attend the event are not new. Colborne mentioned that actor Robert Patrick (Terminator 2: Judgment Day) attended at least one of the Rolling Thunder events, as have other celebrities, usually just to ride with a lower profile. Most times, though, those requests don’t even get responses, let alone acceptances. That’s a shame, because the Rolling Thunder event highlights the issues surrounding American POWs and MIAs from the Vietnam War and later conflicts, as well as providing support to their families, who really need the emotional support they get from this group of volunteer veterans.
Colborne spoke with me on the phone in the middle of an all-night car ride to Washington DC, and explained that the last-minute RSVP didn’t get communicated through the echelons of Rolling Thunder. Everyone is either in transit or already in DC, and internal communication broke down as often happens before a major event. Shpak (and Colborne) were taken by surprise by Palin’s announcement. Shpak does have the authority to speak for the organization, Colborne says, but he had no idea that Palin was invited by DiPaolo, and Shpak worried that Palin’s arrival might be a “big distraction” from the issues on which Rolling Thunder wants people to focus. Obviously, Shpak — a Vietnam veteran himself — feels passionate about defending the organization, but went on NBC with faulty information. Shpak, Colborne, and almost everyone else at Rolling Thunder are volunteers, just ordinary people doing extraordinary work, and that means they get the occasional hiccup.”

  13. “Colborne spoke with me on the phone in the middle of an all-night car ride to Washington DC, and explained that the last-minute RSVP didn’t get communicated through the echelons of Rolling Thunder”

Was this ‘last minute’ invitation issued before or after Palin was already declaring her attendance?

  14. Frankly whether she cleared her appearance through the appropriate channels or not doesn’t lessen the cheapness of the stunt. I’d certainly give her the benefit of the doubt that she beleived she had been invited, and she certainly has supporters among the group.

The main thing is that she’ll never be invited by the voters to be President.

  15. Patty

I read on several news websites and saw more than one news broadcast which mentioned the not insignificant level of annoyance at her use of this event. I am prepared to accept that she may well have had an invite and parts of the media reports were wrong but as Mahons says, this does not lessen her milking of this for what is quite clearly a test the waters rolling electoral bandwagon and I think she should not have used an event which is about those who have served and died for her own profile projections. Whether right or wrong she must have known that the image of her riding in leathers would dominate the media coverage and te story would all eb about the ‘will she won’t she’ speculation and she should have declined the opportunity.

  16. Question is did it put the Golfer in Chief off his stroke?

Golf – surely it’s what the Veterans would have wanted the Commander in Chief to do on Memorial day. After all Golf is very big in Japan so surely that would be fine with the Kamikazi Squadrons Ground Crew Association?

Yet another instance where the Obamessiah has zero Emotional Intelligence.

  17. The CarnieCapades.

  18. The President was at Arlington.

  19. Yes, you can criticise him for that, but he did attend the wreath laying and memorial service at Arlington in the morning, which he was criticised for not doing in 2010. At least an improvement on last year.

  20. Do you care to retract your statement, Dogisgreat?

  21. THe media is annoyed because she’s not playing along with them. Not because she somehow shouldn’t have been at the event. The media has to follow her around and they actually have to do research to get a story.

Also, many in the media thought the Rolling Thunder event was too noisy! It is after all – Rolling Thunder, as the bikers parade through DC.

    lol!

  22. It is interesting to hear big time media guys like Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity pretend to be small insurgents as they rail against the ” main stream media ”

For the non-newspaper reading set ( Hi Sarah! ) those guys ARE the MSM!

  23. I think the MSM and her detractors also hate her because she’s so happy – to them, after all they’ve done/written/said about her ( and believe me, they have thrown the kitchen sink and then some at her) Palin’s obvious good humor is a major insult to them.

  24. Of course he won’t Phantom because technically he hasn’t told an untruth. Obama did play golf om memorial day. DIG just ommitted that fact that he also laid a wreath at Arlington in the morning.

  25. Hey I went for ice cream with the kids and to a small carnival after attending the Memorial Day Parade in my town. Outrageous behavior.
