An Elected Liar, oh well She is a NYr

Here is an example of propaganda, lies, spin, conspiracy, and complicity. All delivered by an elected member of congress, with the aid of the NY Press.

Fast and Furious ‘scandal’ is a Republican red herring: What we really need are tougher gun laws

Eric Holder is being blamed for a program that is not his creation

Operation Fast and Furious, the attempt to stop gun trafficking into Mexico gone horribly wrong, is now providing political fodder for a Washington game of “gotcha” that underscores everything wrong with our political system. (how does the congresswoman know this is an operation that has gone horribly wrong? To this date NO ONE from DOJ has ever explained how the operation was supposed to work, and lead to the capture of top drug kingpins)

In Fast and Furious, federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agents allowed guns illegally purchased at American gun shops by Mexican gun-runners to be taken back to Mexico, with the hope that the low-level buyers would lead ATF agents to trafficking kingpins. (How? The guns were never followed, nor were they tagged with tracking devices)

But this initiative, which was identical to one launched under the Bush administration, spiraled out of control, with ATF agents losing track of the guns as soon as they crossed the border. Two of the weapons were later recovered at the scene of the December 2010 murder of Border Patrol agent Brian Terry. (There was NEVER an operation under the Bush Administration like Fast & Furious, and you can’t lose control of something that you have not put any control factors into)

Yes, this operation was ill-conceived. Americans who are outraged at Terry’s death rightly want to know whether it has been scrapped and whether Attorney General Eric Holder, who oversees ATF, is aggressively investigating Fast and Furious. I can report that the answer to both of those questions is a resounding yes. (To this date Atty Gen Holder and his office has refused to turn over subpenaed records except for redacted versions that show nothing more in 90% of the cases than the page number, all other info has been blacked out. Atty Gen Holder has also been proven by e-mails obtained from whistle blowers that he LIED UNDER OATH to Congress)

But for Republican congressional leaders, one botched operation is not enough to serve their political goals. They need a scandal — and are desperate to create one.In testimony in May before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, on which I sit, Holder said he learned about Operation Fast and Furious several weeks earlier. He had ordered the Justice Department’s inspector general to investigate it and made clear that the tactics used in the program would not be tolerated. But in subsequent weeks, Republicans produced documents sent to the AG’s office the prior year containing references to the operation. So a “scandal” was born. (No, proof was obtained that Holder LIED)

As with all Washington scandals, one must look behind the allegations. Holder explained that some of the weekly reports reviewed by his staff did occasionally mention Fast and Furious, though none of the documents (which he provided to the committee) gave any indication of controversial tactics — or that these had gone wrong. Multiple officials from Justice and ATF testified they didn’t know about illegal guns flowing to Mexico, either. (but other documents leaked to the committee show that he did know the details of the operation, and the fact that some not all officials also lying under oath does not add credibility to a lie)

Of course, Republicans quickly alleged that there had been a coverup. The head of the National Rifle Association called it “the biggest coverup since Watergate,” while a Republican congressman said that top Justice officials were “accessories to murder.” (No one in Watergate DIED, and when you sell guns to a criminal and he then commits a murder with that gun, under US Law you are an accessory)

But this is pure politics. After all, House Republicans have yet to haul before Congress former AG Alberto Gonzales, even though the controversial tactics used in Fast and Furious began under his watch. According to recent media reports, another Bush-era AG, Michael Mukasey, received a detailed Fast and Furious briefing in 2007. But only Holder took decisive action in response to these dangerous tactics. (Notice how she doesn’t even bother to explain what the hell she is talking about here, Let me elaborate. During the Bush administration there was an operation called Wide Receiver, WR allowed straw purchasers to buy guns, The guns were tagged with tracking devices, not so in F&F, The buyers were tracked across the border with the guns, not so in F&F, The Mexican Government was not only notified but participated in the arrest of the buyers once they crossed the border. In F&F NO ONE was Arrested, and the Mexican Govt was NEVER INFORMED)

This political sideshow is obscuring a vital issue: the ongoing violence in Mexico, which has claimed the lives of at least 35,000 people since 2006 and is fueled, in large part, by illegal weapons smuggled in from the U.S. According to Mexican President Felipe Calderon, Mexico has seized approximately 100,000 guns in the last four years; 84% of them originated in America. (No Mexico has seized over 1,000,000 guns out of that . 100,000 came from the U.S, out of that 100,000 84% can be traced to U.S, to American owners. 10%)

“Straw purchases,” in which low-level operatives buy guns on behalf of others (the practice targeted in Fast and Furious), are one of the primary methods traffickers use to obtain weapons, often 10 or 20 at a time. These purchases are made possible by lax gun laws in the U.S. — laws supported by most of my Republican colleagues. (Total Lie, the Guns Sold in F&F were sold under orders of the ATF, the purchases were filmed, and the serial numbers recorded WITH THE AID OF THE AMERICAN GUN DEALERS, Not one purchaser was arrested by the ATF and instead allowed the guns to go untracked into Mexico, Lax Laws had NOTHING to do with these guns winding up in the hands of Criminals)

This is an actual scandal. Yet at a hearing this spring, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) tried to prevent me from asking an ATF agent whether current criminal penalties are so weak that federal prosecutors are discouraged from pursuing cases involving straw purchasers. I asked the question; the agent agreed that our weak gun laws are, in fact, helping funnel weapons into Mexico.(No Issa stopped this loony bitch from trying to say more Gun Laws would stop the DOJ from ILLEGALLY SELLING GUNS TO KNOWN CRIMINALS)

My GOP colleagues have done little to help law enforcement counter this vast criminal enterprise. A bill I introduced this summer to prohibit firearms trafficking and increase penalties for straw purchasers currently has zero Republican co-sponsors.(Because you stupid woman NO NEW LAWis going to stop the DOJ who is already breaking the laws that are on the books)

In a June 3 video released by Al Qaeda, a spokesman urges would-be jihadists to obtain guns in the U.S., saying: “This is a golden opportunity. America is absolutely awash with easily obtainable firearms.” Given the ongoing violence on our border and the glaring loopholes in our gun trafficking laws, it’s time for Congress to drop its witch hunts and get serious. We cannot continue allowing weapons to end up in the wrong hands.(Then Maybe we should start by stopping our Federal Law Enforcement Officers from selling guns to drug dealers)

Maloney, a Democratic congresswoman, represents parts of Manhattan and Queens.(As most that have been on this site for more than a day will understand by our own NY population the intelligence of this elected official is very representative of the NY mindset on guns)

Operation Fast and Furious has NO SIMILARITY to ANY previous operation under any administration. Operation Fast and Furious was an operation run by the Department of Justice under Atty Gen Eric Holder. His statement is that it’s purpose was to arrest the heads of Mexican Drug Cartels. To this date Mr. Holder nor any other official has stated how this was supposed to be achieved.

The Guns were filmed at the purchase sites, the gun dealers were ordered to sell these guns by the ATF and the DOJ. Non of the guns were tracked by the Federal Agents that watched the Criminals buy the guns, non of the purchasers were arrested by the federal agents, the Mexican Govt never knew that our DOJ allowed over 2000 guns to cross illegally into their country. These guns have been found at the scenes of over 200 murders in Mexico, and at the Scenes of TWO DEAD AMERICAN LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS.

But according to Congresswoman Maloney this is a Republican witch hunt and what the problem really is, is that Law Abiding Americans are allowed to buy and own Guns.

I won’t read your stupid article. Please grow up.

  2. Someone’s messed up the layout.

  3. no one expects you to read anything that goes against your view of the world Phantom

  4. Not true

But if that’s your headline your article goes right in the trash can

  5. ahhh that makes me so upset, The state that considers itself to be the home of the nations most intellectual sophisticated people in the world, repeatedly elect liars and theives like this woman, Schuemer, Weiner, etc etc and also gives us foam at the mouth anti gun kooks like Bloomberg and you.

What’s the matter Phantom can’t handle the fact that the 4 states that provide the worse political clowns are NY, NJ, Illinois, and California. All the bastions of the Democrat Elite

    you can’t handle the truth

  6. oh by the way the Title was worded just for you…lol

  7. From the beautiful Cold Spring, New York, on the grand majestic Hudson river, may I wish all Americans a happy Thanksgiving.

  8. same to you Pinky… did you listen to my Thanksgiving piece below?

  9. Not yet Troll, but I will.

I hope you, Monica and the girls have a warm and fulfilling family day.

I am thankful for what I have and won’t long for what I don’t need.

  10. Amen

  11. look regarding this post let me explain something.

When our governments act they do so in our name, with the authority that we as citizens have freely given them. Now all governments are foul able, they are only made up of people no different than you and I.

Fast and Furious was a plan by the Obama administration not to arrest anyone, all evidence shows that. The plan was simple, flood the Mexican Drug Cartels with American Guns so that claims of loose gun laws can be blamed and stricter laws can be implemented.

To that end the DOJ under Eric Holder sold over 2000 high powered weapons ILLEGALLY to the drug cartels. They then started compiling data on those guns from crime scenes in Mexico.

Well 2 problems arose, the first a large section of the law enforcement community involved in the operation complained repeatedly. They didn’t want any part of blood being spilled even of drug dealers due to guns they were providing. These agents were ordered to stand down.

Then the unthinkable happened 2 American Law Enforcement were killed by these Guns, the agents could no longer stand down, and went public.

The Obama administration has created a conspiracy to cover up their crimes. This Congresswoman is part of that conspiracy. She knowingly wrote a story that is a complete lie as born out by the evidence, she has done so with the aid of the NY Daily News.

And guess what the blind amongst us as demonstrated by Phantom eat it up 100%. They have no care for the loss of human life, no care when their government violates the law in their name. Won’t even read a fisked version of the story pointing out the lie.

You see it doesn’t meet with his view of the world, after all his view is the more refined sophisticated one.

Mine is simple, laws have been broken, Police Officers have died as a result of a political agenda.I find that both offensive and treasonous, but I guess others don’t.

  12. ” They have no care for the loss of human life”

    Troll said that!

    Yes.

  13. I care for the loss of human life, I do however support the taking of lives when they are a threat. This operation cost lives without meeting both moral or legal standards. The loss of life was incidental to the goal of gun control, not an unpleasant but necessary action.

    There is a difference.

  14. Troll – this is just pure conspiracy theory.

  15. oh OK tell that to the Terry family

  16. “I won’t read your stupid article. Please grow up.”

Now THAT’s what I call open and frank debate! :)

  17. When the package comes wrapped in that title, it is clear that there is nothing inside

  18. “Allan@Aberdeen, on November 24th, 2011 at 5:06 pm Said:

Troll – this is just pure conspiracy theory.”

    Allan,
a great sense of irony you have there! Pot and kettle spring to mind..

  19. Haven’t really followed this one, Troll.
Are you suggesting that this op. was deliberately planned in order to create a reason for Democrats to argue against gun ownership?
Whatever the case, it sounds like a right mess.

  20. Here’s an example of the Irish government’s attitude toward gun possession and justice in general:

    http://www.irishexaminer.com/breakingnews/ireland/man-sentenced-to-seven-years-for-possession-of-handguns-529627.html

Heck, I betcha when all is said and done at the following trial that’s more slammer time than if you kill 8 people with a car.

    http://www.rte.ie/news/2011/1110/donegal.html

  21. yeah Tom, you can actually search Fast and Furious here on ATW and get a complete history of this debacle

    Oh an A8 I resemble that remark…lol

  22. Troll,
I call myself Agit8ed, but I am beginning to think you should consider a name change to “Agit8or”, as you do seem to love upsetting some of your compatriots…. ;)

  23. Troll – governments just don’t do things like that. Ask Phantom: he’ll confirm it.

  24. Instead of (allegedly) handing guns to the drug gangs, the authorities should have given them tazers. Tazers are quite deadly as shown in this case where police tazered to death a 61-year-old disabled man:

    http://www.wral.com/news/local/story/10415249/

  25. I suppose it is possible that this F&F op was deliberately staged, after all socialist governments obviously hate the idea of their citizens being armed, and will want to disarm the people if they can. (And Allan has a vaid point: governments do (sometimes) do naughty things like that).
Or on the other hand, it could just be a mighty great balls-up.
