EVERY DAY IS SUN DAY…
By David Vance On February 20th, 2012Looks like the UK is going to have a new Newspaper – The Sun on Sunday!
“The Sun on Sunday is to publish for the first time next weekend, News International has announced. An email to all staff said that Rupert Murdoch, boss of parent company News Corporation, would “be staying in London to oversee the launch”. Mr Murdoch flew in to the UK last week, and told Sun staff that a Sunday edition would be launched “very soon”. News International shut down its Sunday paper, the News of the World, last year amid the scandal over phone hacking.”
Since I don’t read The Sun, I will not be reading The Sun on Sunday! However it is churlish not to welcome this news and there will be millions of people who look forward to Sunday’s first edition. Another good reason to welcome this news is that it really is a poke in the eye for all those who seek to bring down the Murdoch empire.

I think this is great news. Without the Sun the islamo fascist supporting anti british, racist snooterati on the Grauniads CIF website wouldnn’t have anyone to throw excrement at.
FWOOARRR!!
The fact that the Sun is the most popular “newspaper” in Britain speaks volumes on the state of British society.
It’s the replacement for The News of the World. Hardly a surprise, is it? And I’m sure that the low-brow Brits will be buying its lies in their millions.
Let’s hope the new paper shows more respect for the law than its predecessor.
Isn’t Murdoch’s empire bringing itself down? Or did someone force them to pull all the stunts they have done in recent years?
Is that the paper that features a full page-3 almost naked, gorgous, huge-breasted female?
I wouldn’t hold your breath Peter. Perhaps they can run a Hillsborough follow-up story and try to inject some truth this time.
EDDIE -
That’s the one, and what a wonderful institution Page 3 and its bevvy of lovely ladies is too.
Now I know Page 3 has its knockers, unfortunately couple of them look like Clare Short and Harriet Harman. Both witches have tried to have Page 3 banned. So while I don’t buy The Sun it’s enough to know that Page 3 drives the loony tendency nuts.
And that’s a very good thing.
From the linked BBC article:
“A gap in the market had been left by the News of the World’s closure, [...] but [...] it was unclear how much demand there was for the Sun for an extra day a week.”
I think there’s probably a lot of demand. Sunday is, after all, the “put your slippers on and relax on the sofa” day, the one day when most people have the time to chill out and read a soft, entertaining newspaper or magazine. On Sundays, people want their newspapers high on entertainment and diversions, and low on intellectual food for thought. It’s the day when most people will look at the adverts for consumer products, and decide which products they want to buy. Sunday papers are big business.
I won’t be reading it either, but if this is what Mr Murdoch wants to do right now, good luck to him.
