May the Force be with you. Can’t believe it was 35 years ago that the young Mahons sat in a theater and was amazed by the simple story that transcended the special effects of Star Wars. The great use of screen legends Alec Guinness and Peter Cushing, The Death Star, the spaceships, the breakout performance of Harrison Ford, rebellion against the Evil Empire, the princess in distress, the canteen scene, the booming music, hand to hand combat, terrible monsters, space travel, light sabres, Jedi Knights, funny robots, Imperial stormtroopers, strange creatures, the desert planet, Jawas, thrills, chills and excitement. Lights, camera and action asa phrase was never more appropriate.
George Lucas the director didn’t let the special effects, which were marvelous, trump the story (as he did in later episodes). A great adventure movie for the young at heart. I can’t believe it is that old, while I of course have not aged.
