WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU CRITICISE ISLAM…

By David Vance On May 29th, 2012

I’ve posted quite a few of Pat Condell’s excellent videos. But he has found that some people get rather upset when he supports Israel and dares criticise Islam….read this. I have to say that I have also received some comments in this vein – it’s the price you pay for straight talking in 2012.

  1. One or two people with “Anger Management” issues.

I would have my doubts about their claims to being “Peace-loving”

Poor marks for spelling, punctuation and grammar…..

  2. Crikey O’Reilly!
    Unbelievable.
You can feel the anger through the screen.
Some people from all backgrounds -ours included, can never be reasoned with, because at back of it all is a burning emotional anger immune to logic.
No matter how Condell or anyone else frame their arguments, just saying key words will provoke an irrational response.

  3. Mr. Condell’s crtics seem to have at least two or three things in common.

They are sadly lacking in their vocabulary access; they all seem to accuse Mr. Condell of a an amorphous hatred of Islam, whereas I would state that Mr. Condell was most specific in detailing his dislikes; and most of the commenters don’t seem to have grasped the idea that there are very few ways of preserving anonymity on the Internet.

  4. Yep, if you believe that a bearded prophet travelled to heaven on his trusty steed Burqa Buraq then you won’t distinguish yourself in joined-up writing.

  5. “Yep, if you believe that a bearded prophet travelled to heaven on his trusty steed Burqa Buraq then you won’t distinguish yourself in joined-up writing.”

    Richard,
that is both condescending and wrong. As Mike says above, Pat Condell is very specific in his criticisms/observations. He is not rude nor dismissive. One of the reasons I like him is that he is reasoned in his arguments.
I haven’t read any of his stuff critical of Christianity, but I am sure he would not be referring to “sky gods*” and “sky pixies*”; so we could have a rational, respectful and interesting conversation.
Malcolm Muggeridge was a late convert to Roman Catholicism, and whilst I wouldn’t personally agree with his decision, I am sure he could wipe the floor with me intellectually, and he did joined up writing..

*As do some of the wombles who comment here on ATW do. And that IMO, is only different from the examples given above by degrees.

  6. Agit8ed,

“that is both condescending and wrong.”

Agreed. You omitted the strikethrough, thereby spoiling my little joke ;)

  7. Listen up, everyone!
Richard’s (passable) joke was that Mohammed’s winged steed was not Burqua ( an all enveloping outer garment) but Buraq (lightning, as in thunder and..)

    Was that okay Wichid? ;)

  8. I love the Muslim cretins venting their spleens to Pat. Never in the field of ‘foaming at the mouth religious zealotry’ have so many proven, so quickly, that Pat Condell’s trenchant analysis of the death cult that is Islam, is so absolutely correct. My favourite one was the one where some wackjob threatens Pat for ‘Insulating’ Islam? That particular deluded little soul owes me a new keyboard as it’s now covered in my coffee. Anyway Muhammed or Mohammed or whever variation of same…..I regularly ‘insulate Islam’ as well. Does that mean you’ll be popping round to lop my bonce off as well? Could you make it next Thursday as I was planning on having a haricut that day and this will save me the cash. Thanks Mo love and kisses to your cattle er wives whatever.

  9. Dogisgreat,

They’re not all muzzies venting their spleens there. Some christies as well.

Odd how one seldom encounters that level of bile in the godfree. Why should that be?

  10. “Odd how one seldom encounters that level of bile in the godfree. Why should that be?”

    Yes odd that, Wichid.
Could it be that the godfree/godless are too busy shaping man in their own image that they haven’t any time to “bile”?
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7iDZnkn1xo

Now I can find you any number of atrocities committed by those “Dignity of man -You have nothing to lose but your Chains!” political philosophies,
so cut the patronising crap ,and accept that your ‘liberal god free zone’ is just as capable/likely to “smash eggs to make omelettes” as any one else. :)

  11. Agit8ed,

Don’t be silly. The page you linked to clearly states that that particular atrocity predates Mao by many centuries. And here’s another thing: the people you like to convince yourself are god-free, i.e. communists, are most likely god-fearing, perhaps as much as you.

Or do you honestly think that Mao (or Pol Pot or Stalin) waved a magic wand and undid millennia of superstition overnight? Russians and Chinese are among the most religious on earth. As soon as the Soviet Union collapsed the people reverted to their old ways.

“your ‘liberal god free zone’ is just as capable/likely to “smash eggs to make omelettes” as any one else”

Capable, of course. Yet we’re not in the habit of insanely screaming blue murder on blogs, flying aircraft into tall buildings, or murdering doctors who perform abortions.

  12. “The page you linked to clearly states that that particular atrocity predates Mao by many centuries. ”
    There you go again! Patronising.

The link makes it clear that the Communist Chinese clearly thought that “if it was good enough for our ancestors, it’s good enough for us.” They did it to their own people during the (not so) Cultural Revolution.
Another little trick these guys used was to take some poor wretch -male or female- and ram a chopstick into their ears to destroy their hearing…
    Very humane..
Let’s see if I can find a verse for that somewhere..

    You talk such garbage!
“Or do you honestly think that Mao (or Pol Pot or Stalin) waved a magic wand and undid millennia of superstition overnight?”

What superstition would that be Richard?
The Christian superstition of murder and butchery,
or the pre Christian tribal superstition of murder and butchery??

See, you’re quite happy to support people who comment here on ATW who try to suggest how much better life was in the pre Christian,”let it all hang out” pagan/barbarian days,
but in threads like this you decide that actually, (poor misunderstood) Mao (or poor Pol Pot or (misunderstood) Stalin)

were labouring away under the weight of centuries of benighted religious thinking and practices!
Your real problem is that you can’t accept that people like you really ARE a powerless, toothless minority, convinced of your own enlightened liberal humanistic superiority; but who would be first in line to don a uniform when and if the vicious boys take over and faced you with the ultimatum of
“join us or take the consequences!”

  13. Agit8ed,

Yes, I figured my puncturing your myth of billions of unbelievers in Russia and China would go unchallenged.

Your final sentence is grossly insulting to me and others, and at odds with your usual standard of discussion. I’ll ignore it. We all have our off days. I do hope you’ll be your old self again tomorrow.

  14. Over the years Condell has garnered 40 million hits on his website, so a few dozen abusive comments is not much to get hetup about.
I often wonder though what his ‘house’ must look like – if it IS a house – probably a 60 foot surveillance watchtower.
    He sure has some bottle.

  15. “The link makes it clear that the Communist Chinese ….”

Those well known freethinkers and paragons of liberal humanism, always encouraging people to question everything, always banging on about the pro-choice and the gay marriage. If only they’d been a *little* bigger fans of authority, tradition and unquestioned dogma, and a little less reasonable and evidence based, how much suffering could have been avoided?

Or, you know, at least they might have added a dash of the supernatural and an appeal to some kind of ‘higher power’ so as to seem a bit less cocky. Murdering and torturing people ‘just because’ and without any voices, visions, or ancient texts telling you to do it, that’s just arrogant. Nobody likes to be tortured and killed in an arrogant manner, for silly reasons.

Murdering and torturing people for believing in a different kind of enormous invisible flying monkey than you do (or worse, no invisible flying monkey at all!), that is all very different of course. That’s simply an honest mistake, as the instructions of the religious texts to do such things are not meant to be taken seriously. Unlike those who do *not* believe in gods, who are clearly instructed (by Darwin) to engage in murder and torture.

  16. I’ve seen some of Condell’s videos. Clearly he doesn’t like religion so he lambasts Christianity and islam – but he seems to omit judaism. In fact, he doesn’t say a single word about the idiocies of judaism which match anything in islam.

  17. Richard,
“Your final sentence is grossly insulting to me and others, and at odds with your usual standard of discussion. I’ll ignore it. We all have our off days. I do hope you’ll be your old self again tomorrow.”

I am simply pointing out whilst you and others love to patronize or poke fun at religion or the idea of a Supreme Being; you are just as likely to put your scruples and principles aside if faced with the threat of death or torture. You are just as likely to don the uniform of a repressive regime as any other educated, enlightened person did in Nazi Germany or Soviet Russia or Communist China.

It’s nothing to do with “religious belief or superstition” and everything to do with evil Godless men ready and willing to use violence and death in order to achieve a truly free society in which Man is the sum of all things.
So please don’t be offended because I find fault in your attitude. There are lots of good, kind and caring Christian people who do think and do use their intellects to question.
That they do not draw the same conclusions as you does not mean they have to be ridiculed. Even some Islamic scholars are very well educated.

  18. “In fact, he doesn’t say a single word about the idiocies of judaism which match anything in islam.”
    Allan,
Even Mr Condell makes mistakes and omissions. Why not contact him and point out his mistake?
Good job you’re always on the ball… ;)

  19. Agit – the omission is rather glaring, don’t you think? The idiocies of islam are quite evident, Christianity is attacked regularly yet, where judaism’s holy books and the malice towards non-adherents (those not fortunate enough to be Chosen) is concerned, nothing, just nothing.

  20. Allan,
no I don’t hink it’s “glaring”. He probably forgot to mention it because (regardless of what you think), Judaism isn’t a clear and present threat to us here in the UK. They don’t threaten us in the way that some extremist Muslims do. Jews by and large integrate into our society.
Please don’t go into one of your long discourses. We’ve done that one to death! Let’s just agree that Pat Condell presents his views clearly and logically, and I for one enjoy most of them.

  21. Pat Condell is a zionist fraud in exactly the same way as Geert Wilders. Condell and Wilders may make arguments against islam but they never ever draw attention to who let the muslims in to begin with.
In one sense, you’re right – most jews are no threat and are as concerned by what is being done to the UK as I am.

  22. Wow!
    A warm glow of cameraderie and goodwill was slowly spreading through my body towards my little Scots conspiracy theorist/BNP (Aberdeen Branch) member, that we finally agreed on something to do with things Semetic;
when Boof! it suddenly occurred to me,
“Hang on! He doesn’t believe there ARE any Jews!!”

    Allan my little Braveheart,
Just when I thought we were finding some common ground….. ;)
