   a) I don’t believe most Saudis are gay, but it is accepted in their culture that men are attracted to young boys/girls and because women are not regarded as “different but equal”, men are justified in despising/ill treating/ignoring them and believing,

   Which IMHO is a load of bunk!
   Homosexuality is manifest all over the world. Some cultures tolerate it, others supress it, and others actively persecute it.
   In all recorded history there is no evudence that any successful and progressive culture favoured and promoted homosexuality.

   Anyone want to argue that one???
   However, Islam both condemns it and turns a blind eye to it.
   In line with “How To Brainwash a Nation” the Saudis have used oil as a way of manipulating western values, and craven western politicians have opened the gates to an influx of Muslims, who given the right incentives and the desire to continue living, will turn on their western “host” neighbours and slaughter them in the name of Allah.
   You don’t believe me?
   Look at what is happening around the Islamic world now, and tell me that it won’t happen here. (at least while “Corrie and Dead Enders” are on..)
   That’s how dumb and stupid we have become.

   Here we see (from my proudly Evangelical Christian perspective!) where Pat becomes illogical.
   He condemns religion in general, but champions the Jewish experience, uniqueness and contribution to our world.
   Now I would say that God works in human history, and chose a bunch of no-bodies, the Jews – to reveal His character to the world.
   So the Jews were never superior, never special.
   It was/is God’s involvement with them that has revealed both His Holiness and Righteousness and Blessings on those who walk in obedience with Him through history.
   That is part of the reason that despite all of man’s hatred and persecution towards them the Jewish people continue to be “over represented” in the sciences, the arts, the politics and the ‘Ologies…

   He wouldn’t thank me for saying that, and would probably laugh; but despite his atheism he recognises the uniqueness and wonder of Israel and the Jews.
   Whatever his experience of religion, it is his integrity which I would think will count in his favour with the Almighty.
