TIME TO STOP SAYING ASIAN?

By David Vance On June 9th, 2012

Very interesting article here on an issue we have oft discussed;

“Is it time to stop using the word “Asian”? In recent weeks Britain’s Sikh and Hindu communities have complained angrily about the use of the misleading term in reporting of the Rochdale grooming convictions of men of Muslim Pakistani descent. Headlines like “Asian grooming – why we need to talk about sex crime”, “Child sex grooming: the Asian question”, and “Grooming offences committed mostly by Asian men, says ex-Barnardo’s chief” show the problem.

Obviously Sikhs and Hindus and other “Asian” non-Muslims, including Jains, Zoroastrians, Christians and Buddhists, don’t want to be associated with sexual grooming of vulnerable white girls. The vast majority of Muslims don’t want to either. The girls targeted in Rochdale, Derby and now in Luton are all non-Muslim. This is nothing new for British Hindus and Sikhs, who have complained about targeting of their girls for decades; Indians refer to the practice as “love-jihad”.

The problem is that the media are scared to say MUSLIM so they sanitise it by using the catch-me-all “Asian” sobriquet. The question is WHY the media behave in this manner. Are they afraid?

  1. In a word, yes.

    The PC brigade will cast them down!

  2. The word as used by the media is dishonest. Period.

  3. I have a 20 year old female friend who works in a heavily “asian” part of Leicester, in the last two weeks she’s been offered £20 for sex and followed by someone basically trying to get her into his car.

    There really is a predatory culture that is much more widespread than is commonly realised, the press aren’t exaggerating it.

  4. I kind of agree?
    What really is ‘Asian’? It’s not a nationality. Muslim is a religion.
    The media rarely get it right and it is irritating.
    It should either be the persons nationality or their religion. It’s really quite simple.
    And the sooner we can rid of that other nonsense like ‘African-American’ the better.
