Well it’s not just Republicans is it. It is a large block of religious right wingers generally. Christians and Muslims and Jews, all obsessed with preposterous and incompatible ancient claims and prophecies concerning the same piece of real estate, to the point of being ready to kill over it.
And in the case of the Republicans you have the ‘Bible Prophecy Students’ who not only expect the second coming of Christ to involve some kind of apocalypse centered on Israel, they can’t wait for that. If they had three wishes, that would be the first one.

Troll , You are aware of the nationality of the terrorists involved in 9/11 ; nearly ALL of them were Saudi Arabian . Following the grounding of aircraft across the US the only planes to leave carried Saudis . So , I guess the question I would ask is why did your Govt. attacked Iraq and not Saudi Arabia ?

You really need to learn not to get so annoyed just because people disagree with you. You may think that the best way to deal with the potential nuclear capability development in Iran is to launch a massive bombing campaign but you can’t expect everyone to agree with you or to share your views on the justification and morality of such a pre-emptive attack. Neither does it follow that anyone who disagrees with you is a duped idiot or an anti-semite. Debate your points but stop throwing your toys out of the pram because you fail to get everyone singing from the same hymn sheet.

Are there no common values with Christiasns who have been horribly treated by Israel? What about the hundreds of thousands of Christians who have been murdered and disposessed because of the catastrophe America unleased on Iraq? Christians are being severely persecuted now in Syria with the help of Western governments. Don’t they count? Do we have no shared values with them?
And what are these common, shared values which elevate Israel to a holy, sanctified State beyond reproach?
The fact is, it’s always been the kind of socialist state which has Republicans shrieking in terror. We know the “European style socialism” phrase that Republicans like to scare the children with. Israel is that and more, yet there’s never a word of criticism about how those damned Israelis are socialists.
It’s a bonkers obsession which is now becoming an act of faith, a religious rite of passage. Thou shalt not say no to Israel, thou shalt not fail to worship Israel, thou shalt not refuse to send your children to fight and die for Israel.
I recall on 9/11 wondering why helicopters didn’t go and heli-vac those trapped in the floors above the fires. After all, these guys had access so there was good reason for there to be no access to the observation deck:

Iraq…no. That’s always been my stance. Afghanistan…at the time, I felt it was too early. I’m pretty much against war…don’t support violence, in general…grew up with too much of it and had my fill. But I live and work in NYC and something had to be done. The focus should have been on Afghanistan and Afghanistan alone (though I realize there was ‘spillage’).
To sum it up…Don’t F with me and I won’t F with you.
Iran…I believe Iran will be sunk by its own people.
