NHS worship is one the the strangest aspects of modern British society. This neo-Stalinist monstrosity was set up by the Left and is now seen as a modern triumph. That is correct. It is a triumph for the State, for an uncaring bureaucracy, for socialism, This NHS is the same one where patients are left to die on trolleys; where hospital wards are filthy; where nurses have to be taught how to care; It costs an extortionate amount of money but is free at point of purchase, and in true socialist style it provides the lowest level of care for many people. So, what to do? Yes – expand overseas!
The NHS can help rescue the UK economy by setting up profit-making hospitals abroad, medical chiefs said today.
Huh? Sublime delusionalism!
David Stout, deputy chief executive of the NHS Confederation, said it is “absolutely right” to charge for NHS services abroad and bring back the profit to help improve patient care in Britain. He said the idea of setting up foreign branches of well-known hospitals, such as Great Ormond Street and the Royal Marsden, is a huge opportunity as long as services in the UK are not harmed. The Patients’ Association said the move was a “distraction” at a time of upheaval in the NHS. “If that happened, if it diverted attention away from running local health services to working internationally that would be a problem but that’s not going to happen,” he said.
It would be interesting to see that level of care that the NHS abroad offers. If it is similar to that offered in the UK, I cannot see patients wanting it. Also, if it right to charge abroad why not charge at home? In fact why not privatise the whole operation? It is out of time, out of cash, out of priorities and should face the axe. I notice that Dubai is the first location for NHS overseas. I wonder how the standard of THAT hospital will compare to that we endure here?
