Standing on the Graves of Children

By Patty On January 17th, 2013

IMHO, President Obama beclowned himself today when he surrounded himself with children in order to announce 23 executive signing orders. The 23 executive orders are all part of the Left’s most recent gun control push and the package is called : Gun Violence Reduction Executive Actions. Those who have read the 23 signing orders note that none would have stopped the Sandy Hook killings.

And yet, Sandy Hook and “the children” are paraded out for a sympathy grab in typical Leftist bullying fashion.

Governor Rick Perry of Texas is properly disgusted by the Left’s cynical use of children to push policy and he has issued the following press release:

“The Vice President’s committee was appointed in response to the tragedy at Newtown, but very few of his recommendations have anything to do with what happened there.

“Guns require a finger to pull the trigger. The sad young man who did that in Newtown was clearly haunted by demons and no gun law could have saved the children in Sandy Hook Elementary from his terror.

“There is evil prowling in the world – it shows up in our movies, video games and online fascinations, and finds its way into vulnerable hearts and minds. As a free people, let us choose what kind of people we will be. Laws, the only redoubt of secularism, will not suffice. Let us all return to our places of worship and pray for help. Above all, let us pray for our children.

“In fact, the piling on by the political left, and their cohorts in the media, to use the massacre of little children to advance a pre-existing political agenda that would not have saved those children, disgusts me, personally. The second amendment to the Constitution is a basic right of free people and cannot be nor will it be abridged by the executive power of this or any other president.”

  1. Considering the fact that governor Perry ran for president while stoned out of his mind on painkillers, it’s amazing he has the gall to find fault with Obama on any issue.

I’m pretty sure Noah’s mother probably couldn’t give a rip about his self-serving remarks either.

The details that stuck with me the most — and the details which I felt most conflicted about putting in print — were Veronique’s descriptions of the damage to her son’s body. He was shot 11 times; she told me that his jaw and his left hand were mostly gone.

Veronique described what she saw: “We all saw how beautiful he was. He had thick, shiny hair, beautiful long eyelashes that rested on his cheeks. He looked like he was sleeping. But the reality of it was under the cloth he had covering his mouth there was no mouth left. His jaw was blown away. I just want people to know the ugliness of it so we don’t talk about it abstractly, like these little angels just went to heaven. No. They were butchered. They were brutalized. And that is what haunts me at night.”

**BTW, he’ll be ousted by Greg Abbott in the next election.

  2. Prayer is the solution? Jesus Mary and Joseph how idiotic. Perry couldn’t even name the three federal agencies he wanted to get rid of, now we turn to him for advice? No thanks, even the people in his own Party rejected him.

  3. Newton Ct has now placed two armed guards at every school.

Gee it seems that one community figured out the correct response to protect the children.

  4. Good comment, Daphne.

Patty is also right that it was foolish of Obama to do the surround-yourself-with children number.

These laws are justified and should have been presented to the people in a sober and business-like fashion.

  5. Noel – I disagree, it was an appropriate reminder of what is at stake.

  6. Mahons name one thing that was passed in those executive orders that will have an impact on criminal violence.

I’m not being snide. Honestly make the case with any one of the 23 on how it will help. Explain your logic.

  7. “Perry couldn’t even name the three federal agencies he wanted to get rid of, now we turn to him for advice? No thanks, even the people in his own Party rejected him.”

typical – trash the person; ignore the argument.

  8. The man directly responsible for this says “do it for the children”. Anyone with any self respect will laugh at him in public in future.

Shame on the parents for allowing their children to be used as political props.

  9. Patty – Your first sentence calls the President a clown so I am curious as to how you don’t see that as “trashing the person”.

  10. Mahons: really? My post and Perry’s comments criticize Obama’s actions.

Your comment ignores Obama’s actions. Your comment calls Perry the equivalent of “stupid” – ergo, Obama’s actions are fine. That’s your argument.

This is typical of the Left.

  11. “Standing on the graves of children” isn’t trashing the person?

  12. Patty – Yes, really. You’ve referred above to the President as a clown and a bully which is hardly an opinion on his actions as opposed to his person.

My argument is not that Obama’s actions are fine because Perry is an idiot. Perry’s idiocy survives on its own. Obama’s actions are fine because the striek the right balance in what we as a nation have to do to reduce gun violence.

    Rick Perry

  14. Typical Leftist response -call the person you’re against “stupid” and ignore the issue.

Obama is beclowning himself by using children as props. Agree or disagree?

what? no opinion – just critique of Perry? He’s “stupid,” you say?

Here’s another one: Death Panels – in ObamaCare or not?

what? no opinion. – just critique of Palin? she’s “stupid,” you say?

I could go on and on but you get the picture – take issue with a Lefty and they will ignore the issue and call you stupid. This is why so many say that the Left does not care about the Truth or Reason. Just getting their way.

  15. Mahons: “Prayer is the solution?”

Probably more effective than Obama’s clownish press conference yesterday.
