WHITED SEPULCHRES

By David Vance On January 18th, 2013

Say what you want about the Church of England but when it comes to persecuting those within it who dare to espouse traditional teachings, well, God help you;

“The chairman of the Church of England’s House of Laity is facing a vote of no confidence. A bid to oust Dr Philip Giddings from his post was launched after women failed to win the right to become bishops at the General Synod in November – a measure he had spoken against. The legislation failed in the House of Laity, one of three houses which makes up the Synod, by just six votes.

So, when the liberal wing of Anglicanism fails to gets it way, it has a hissy fit!

Canon Stephen Barney is moving the vote of no confidence in Dr Giddings during the House of Laity meeting in Church House, Westminster.  Setting out the reasons he has no confidence in the chairman, Canon Barney cited the speech Dr Giddings made before the crucial vote. He said the speech had convinced many undecided members of the House of Laity to vote against the legislation to introduce female bishops. Bit it did not represent the views of the House of Bishops as a whole and also directly contradicted the views of incoming Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby.

The horror of a Bishop such as Dr Giddings actually speaking up for what he BELIEVES IN and ..wow ..”convincing” people to oppose liberal shills like Barney is too much to take! This petulance shows just how twisted and intolerant the liberal wing of the COE has become.

  1. Hissy fits?
    Must be catching.. ;)

  2. It’s called democracy David. If a leader of a group loses the confidence of that group they have every right to elect a new leader.

  3. Don’t believe him David.
The Church of England is not strictly speaking a democracy, nor is the Roman Catholic Church, nor any other denomination.

” Biblically, the Church is not a Democracy, but rather a Theocracy over which Jesus is the Head.”

I lifted this from here.. http://prfaustblog.wordpress.com/2012/01/16/democracy-vs-theocracy/
because I thought it was quite a neat brief summary of Church history.

    I particularly liked this..

” The problem with running a church like a Democracy is it actually creates division. It causes people not to trust one another and causes leadership to fear making decisions, which results in making no decisions.”
What has happened in the CofE (less so in the RCC) is that liberal interpreters of the essential message of Christianity, have succeeded in changing the emphasis from preaching the Gospel to

“Ya gotta love everybody, judge nobody, and above all stay relevant.”

Liberals tend to be both pompous and patronising and prone to hissy fits if they don’t like what’s being said, or don’t get their way.
(Because naturellement, their way is the RIGHT way..)
So ideally the Church should look to what the Bible teaches and make prayerful decisions based on that. It is this changing of the Gospel emphasis along with the assumption that Democracy guides the Church rather than the Lord Jesus Christ which has resulted in paralysis and infighting.

Liberals in the church just have a better understanding of what christianity and genuine love towards fellow humans means , rather than the cold and heartless conservatives who just think rigidly and thoughtlesly sticking to old rules is all than matters no matter how hurtful that may be to other people. Liberals are the true followers of the Christian message and the teachings of Jesus, not Conservatievs.

  5. Colm -with the deepest of respect your argument is a pile of steaming horse poo.

It’s religion..either you believe the stuff or you don’t in which case you don’t belong in that religion…go start your own. It’s called Faith.

ie Either you accept the ten commandmants or you don’t . You can’t just make up bits to suit yourself thats plain daft…dafter than religion is anyway but thats a different point.

If you tinker with the bits you don’t like then don’t complain if a member of say the ‘murdering community’ gets the Thou shalt not Kill bit changed as it doesn’t happen to meet with his chiosen lifestyle.

Sorry but some things are immutable.

In any event the CofE was set up by Henry 8th so he could dump a wife and take up with some strumpet and nick a lot of the churches cash while he was at it..plus sell some ezxciting new religious titles to his mates. Holy isn’t it.

You make my point for me. The difference between people who practise Christian love and compassion making the faith a worthwhile and respectable ethos, and the unthinking drones who care not a jot for other people but just adopt the brainless mantra of “that’s the way it has always been and that’s the way it should always be”

  7. “Liberals in the church just have a better understanding of what christianity and genuine love towards fellow humans means , rather than the cold and heartless conservatives who just think rigidly and thoughtlesly sticking to old rules is all than matters no matter how hurtful that may be to other people. Yeah Colm,
Such a shame they weren’t around when Jesus needed them most.
“Hey Jesus! Cool it man.. You’re takin’ all this stuff far too seriously!”

I don’t like dogmatic fundamentalists in any sphere, politics or religion. Liberals may be soppy but they demonstrate a humanity and a consideration for others different to them that earns much more respect from me than the angry tubthumping of the hardliners.

  9. Why shouldn’t they have a vote of no confidence in him if they no longer want him in that position. When you speak up for what you believe you can’t expect every or to like you and to have confidence in you.

  10. “I don’t like dogmatic fundamentalists in any sphere, politics or religion. Liberals may be soppy but they demonstrate a humanity and a consideration for others different to them that earns much more respect from me than the angry tubthumping of the hardliners.”

    Okay,
    Let’s sort it out then.
Obviously we have had the tub thumping version of the Bible. The one where Jesus said He came to die for the sins of the world…

All we have to do is find the Revised Liberal Version where Jesus said.

“I came to set you guys straight on a few things… There ain’t no such a thing as sin. Everything’s cool.

As for God, well She isn’t bothered in the slightest by what people get up to..
All that stuff in the Old Testament about right and wrong and such? That was a mistake!!
How far down the line do you go Colm, in revising stuff before there’s nothing of the original left?
People have been rewriting the Bible and picking holes in it for generations because they don’t like what it says. And how many wild eyed Christians have YOU come across wanting to put you or anyone else to death because you aren’t obeying the rules?

If you don’t agree with the Church’s teachings that’s fine. No one’s going to get you for it.
But don’t try telling people who do believe and who do live their lives according to the teachings of Jesus Christ that they’ve got to do things your way, ‘cos you DON’T LIKE what they believe!
You get on with finding that other version of the Bible.

  11. //People have been rewriting the Bible and picking holes in it for generations because they don’t like what it says//

    That includes you.

  12. Whatever Noel.

  13. Now who’s throwing a hissy fit ;)

  14. “Now who’s throwing a hissy fit ;)”

Noel and I (as well as you) have discussed this many times. He has me down as crazy anyway..
But it is interesting how when one agrees with those of a liberal persuasion
(I’m talking Christianity now, not pictures)
you get the official seal of approval, But when you stick up for traditional Christian teaching the seal of approval is snatched away and is replaced by a “Tub Thumper!” sticker with an unsmiley face..

As I have said many times I see lots of attacks on Christians for various reasons, yet the practices of other religions are mostly ignored.
As far as I know no mainstream Christian minister has issued a fatwa against a Gay activist or an unbeliever, and there remain plenty of non believers (like yourself for instance) telling Christians (in this case the Cof E) how to run their affairs.
    Weird, ain’t it?

  15. Agit.

No Fatwa as such, but at one time they did not like ‘Non-believers’ very much ..

    Deuteronomy 17
If there be found among you, within any of thy gates which the LORD thy God giveth thee, man or woman, that hath wrought wickedness in the sight of the LORD thy God, in transgressing his covenant; 17:3 And hath gone and served other gods, and worshipped them, either the sun, or moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded; 17:4 And it be told thee, and thou hast heard of it, and enquired diligently, and, behold, it be true, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought in Israel; 17:5 Then shalt thou bring forth that man or that woman, which have committed that wicked thing, unto thy gates, even that man or that woman, and shalt stone them with stones, till they die.

    Nice.

  16. Agit8ed

I am not telling Christians how to run their affairs, just giving my opinions on the differing groups and their attitudes. I am not in any position to nor am I seeking to dictate to anyone.

  17. “Liberals in the church just have a better understanding of what christianity and genuine love towards fellow humans means , rather than the cold and heartless conservatives who just think rigidly and thoughtlesly sticking to old rules is all than matters no matter how hurtful that may be to other people. Liberals are the true followers of the Christian message and the teachings of Jesus, not Conservatievs.”

“”Liberals in the church just have a better understanding of what christianity and genuine love towards fellow humans means”!

And you arrived at this opinion after HOW many attendances at Liberal Christian Cof E meetings Colm?
Or are you going to tell me next you don’t have to attend Church to be a Christian and know how the thing should work?
    SO just to be clear,
“It’s all a load of rubbish and I don’t want to be a part of it, but this is what they should do and what they should teach.”

    Mmmhm.

People here have sometimes gotten very cross when others have questioned something they feel strongly about…

  18. Agit8ed

It doesn’t matter how strongly you feel about it, or indeed how anyone feels about any topic. That doesn’t alter my opinion or my right to express it. There is no need for anyone to get cross, just debate.. nicely !

  19. Colm please explain why you would feel the need to belong to an organisation that does not share your views then? Why wouldn’t you want to find some happy clappy wringing wet version of a mutli culti ‘faith’ which believes in everything instead? ie your views. Genuinely curious.

It’s like me wanting to belong to a Communist party but only if they renounce the lefty stuff and adopt Thatcherism.

Are you familiar with the phrase..does not compute?

  20. Dog

I don’t want to belong to any Religous organisation but that does not mean I can’t have an opinion on them, any more than I can have an opiion on the actions and behaviours of various political parties.

    Does that compute ?

  21. “Agit.

No Fatwa as such, but at one time they did not like ‘Non-believers’ very much .. Nice.

    One wonders Harri
why you don’t believe in miracles?
Given that those Jews are still around, despite varied and many attempts to wipe them out, still making enormous contributions to human well being, and are now back in their homeland
whilst still having had time to create your Great Grandparents -God bless their memory.

  22. Given that those Jews are still around, despite varied and many attempts to wipe them out, still making enormous contributions to human well being, and are now back in their homeland

Nonsense. Firstly, few of the jews in the west have any genetic links to the indigenous of the middle east. But secondly and most importantly, they are not back in their homeland: they are here and running our countries into the ground. Here’s how they do it:

To further the advance of their ‘quiet’ cultural revolution – but giving us no ideas about their plans for the future – the (Frankfurt School – a group of marxist jews who fled Germany to the US when Hitler came to power) School recommended (among other things):

    1. The creation of racism offences.

    2. Continual change to create confusion

    3. The teaching of sex and homosexuality to children

    4. The undermining of schools’ and teachers’ authority

    5. Huge immigration to destroy identity.

    6. The promotion of excessive drinking

    7. Emptying of churches

    8. An unreliable legal system with bias against victims of crime

    9. Dependency on the state or state benefits

    10. Control and dumbing down of media

    11. Encouraging the breakdown of the family

  23. Agit, you good ol’ shabbat goy – do you bless the memory of all of Harri’s great-grand-parents or only the jewish ones?

  24. Messhugenah Allan,

Is anyone else involved in this Conspiracy theory of yours, or are there only Pseudo Jews?
Yes I know if I accept “the Protocols of the PseudoElders of Zion” I would KNOW that they’re all Pseudo Jews… but they have a MONOPOLY on evil, brains and hunger for power??!

  25. “do you bless the memory of all of Harri’s great-grand-parents or only the jewish ones?”

Only the ones Harri isn’t ashamed of.. ;)

  26. Agit – theory? Do you believe that the items 1 – 11 of my post of 2.02pm are not happening?

  27. Allan
“Illan in Hebrew meaning Oak tree)
I don’t dispute most of that.
And it wasn’t what I asked you.
I wanted to know whether there were others involved besides the PseudoJews?
    Gorbals Jimmies for instance?

  28. Agit – there are plenty of gentiles involved too, so easily corrupted by the love of money. Jesus didn’t get it wrong, nor about the syanagogue of satan.

  29. “Agit – there are plenty of gentiles involved too, so easily corrupted by the love of money. Jesus didn’t get it wrong, nor about the syanagogue of satan.”

So if you believe that why don’t you give your own a good kicking every now and again?
It is Jews who have suffered the dislike and discrimination of Gentiles for at least the last two thousand years. Not the other way round.
