THE LOOMING DISASTER FOR CAMERON

By David Vance On March 4th, 2013

This is kinda obvious but best to mark it now as some will act surprised in 2015!

The survey by pollsters Ipsos MORI, which was conducted before the Conservative Paty’s humiliating defeat in the Eastleigh by-election, shows that just 48 per cent of those who voted for the Tories in the 2010 election now believe that the Tories have the best policies on Europe.

It will pile pressure on David Cameron, who has ruled out a “lurch to the right” to combat the threat from Ukip, the eurosceptic party which beat the Tories into third place in the Eastleigh vote last week. Despite the Prime Minister promising to hold an in-out referendum on the UK’s position in the EU, the poll showed that the Tories trail Labour by four points in terms of which party is seen as the “best” on Europe. The poll found that 25 per cent believe Labour to be the strongest party on Europe, followed by the Tories on 21 per cent, Ukip on 16 per cent and the Liberal Democrats on only 7 per cent.

It is obvious that there is little difference in SUBSTANCE between The Conservatives, Labour and the LibDems. They are ALL in favour of us remaining locked in the UK and they are all committed to a YES to the EU vote. Only UKIP show a point of difference.

  1. A disaster of Cameron’s own making.

Laugh? You’d have to be made of stone not to. Camoron is an absolute gift to us UKIP’rs.

  2. Only UKIP show a point of difference.

    Surely the BNP do too?

  3. Dogis,
The real tragedy is that these guys who so wish to lead us into some kind of political Promised Land inevitably lead us instead into a Wasteland littered with shattered hopes, repossessed houses, failed businesses and despair.
That politicians continue to believe that they are the true Messiah shoulkd merit some kind of divine thunderbolt…
I shall be voting UKIP. I shall be contacting the local branch to see how I can help, but I still believe that politics has had its day, and ius now part of the problem, not the solution.

  4. The tragedy is they will not allow the PEOPLE to vote whether or not to stay in the EUSSR.

  5. “They are all committed to the EU”

I can’t for the life of me think why ..

Cameron buries hatchet with Plebgate MP Andrew Mitchell – and offers him £250,000 EU job

  6. I can think of no greater comfort to an elected official either i nthe US or the UK than to be dimissed by the rightwing on ATW.

  7. Mahons.

Politics is not delivering the goods.
Your great country has elected a man inspired by Saul Alinsky (as was Hilary Clinton.
Alinsky in “Rules for Radicals,” Chapter 2: said.

“The means-and-ends moralists, constantly obsessed with the ethics of the means used by the Have-Nots against the Haves, should search themselves as to their real political position. In fact, they are passive-but real-allies of the Haves … The most unethical of all means is the non-use of any means … The standards of judgment must be rooted in the whys and wherefores of life as it is lived, the world as it is, not our wished-for fantasy of the world as it should be.“

Alinsky is making a strong case in this quote for the abandonment of morals and ethics as nothing but impediments to political success. For Alinsky, as for Michelle and Barack Hussein Obama, morality and ethics prevent the world from being what “it should be.” The Alinsky end game is likely a global utopia in which the “people” have “power.” Unfortunately, this utopianism has been the foundation of several über-violent movements of the last century which have resulted in over 100 million deaths.

This guy is arguing that the powerless should get power without regard to morality or ethics!
    Cool huh?
Did I have you down as a lawyer?

  8. or be so proud of the case of evidence that you have put forth in your comments of their defense mahons… of course it always seems to be in invisible ink, other than when you obfuscate.

  9. Troll – whose defense? I am pointign out that the politicians who have enjoyed the dismissal of various rightwing types here have fared pretty well, while the politicians they favor tend to lose.

Or are you under the impressio nthat Newt Gingrich is President?

Agit8ed – I am unconcered what you have me down for. For yourself you might try to avoid conclusory allegations as a foundation for your arguements.

  10. Mahons,
And that putdown links to Saul Alinsky how?

  11. Agit8ed – Quite clearly and simply that your conclusory allegations that Alinsky’s influence on the people you suggest is so strong that they have abandoned morals and ethics.

  12. you can’t abandon what you never had. Definition of a Politician= a person Lacking morality and ethics with the ability to smile and raise money.

  13. Where did I say that?
I said they were both inspired by the man and his teachings.
Hilary wrote her thesis on him in 1969.
    Obama was inspired by him.
The point is that politics is about the acquisition, the control and the exercise of power. So is it permissible (in your iunbiased view) to speculate on how that influence affected them?

  14. Agit8ed – Then I am mistaken. I took the fact that you quoted the author’s conclusion favorably as an indication you favored the conclusion.

  15. Not that it matters but it’s not the first time you have done that.
Perhaps you too, are prone to conclusory allegations?

  16. I am further mistaken in that the satire of my 8:36, which i did not believe would go undetected.

In the hope of clarity, do you subscribe to the belief the Clinton and Obama were so influenced by Alinsky that they have abandoned moraility and ethics?

  17. “The tragedy is they will not allow the PEOPLE to vote whether or not to stay in the EUSSR.”

    Not true.

  18. I don’t think we understand each other’s humour.
Or perhaps more accurately I don’t understand your satirical stuff.
It always comes across to me as pomposity.Something I have rarely encountered in Americans: ’til recently.
    As in,
“In the hope of clarity, do you subscribe to…”

So, given that I have already said that imv the art of politics stinks, then one can only say that a politician who admits to admiring a particular person probably accepts their methodology.
All politicians lie and find a way to justify it. The worst ones do that with ethics too.
Where Obama and Clinton are at and what they want for America only time and events will reveal.

  19. Agit8ed- Ok so instead of proclaiming they accept his methodology you are saying they probably do and time will tell.

Of course we can’t decide now after five years of his Presidency for reasons unknown.

    We call that punting here.

  20. Mahons,
    You mean hedging your bets?

And after five years where is America at now?

  21. No, what I mean is you are putting off the proof of your claims until some time in the future. Which you can’t really do if your claim is someone has abandoned morality and ethics to the degree suggested by Alinsky’s methods, the examples would already be there.

America is presently going through a difficult economic period (there have been worse). I think it was better served in going through this period with the present President than the alternative of McCain or Romney.

  22. Mahons,

“Today, as Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton face off for the Democratic presidential nomination, their common connection to Alinsky is one of the striking aspects of their biographies. Obama embraced many of Alinsky’s tactics and recently said his years as an organizer gave him the best education of his life. Clinton’s interest was more intellectual — she turned down the job offer — and she has said little about Alinsky since their association became a favorite subject of conservative critics during her husband’s presidency.”

Then there is the US Black Left perspective..

Of course there are many more like this,

What I am saying is that it is perfectly legitimate to assume that when an individual or individuals have out of admiration been influenced by a person or a school of thought, we will see that influence in their lives.
Just as for example my exposure to kibbutz life influenced my attitude to community problem solving. My Christian faith affects my perception of the worth of the individual and serving/helping other people because that is what Jesus expects of me.
My life experience and awareness of my own failings helps me be more realistic about the aims and limitations of politics.

  23. Here’s another view to consider.

  24. //My Christian faith affects my perception of the worth of the individual and serving/helping other people because that is what Jesus expects of me.//

C’mon. It isn’t fair to blame Jesus for the nonsense you write, Agit8ed :-)

  25. Wait a minute Noel – Jesus expects him to suggest that other people act without morals or ethics. I know this because Budda overheard them talking and told me.

    (I kid I kid).
