I see that an American company which supplies Pepsi Cola has said a donation it made to IRA/Sinn Fein was "a mistake" which will not happen again. Pepsi Cola Bottling of New York has expressed "regret" and apologised for handing over $3,000 to fundraisers for Sinn Fein in America after it was contacted by victims’ group Families Acting for Innocent Relatives (FAIR). I accept that this was done more through ignorance than intent but I would have thought that one way that Pepsi Cola Bottling could undo the damage caused would be to make a private donation to those innocents who have suffered so grievously at the hands of IRA/Sinn Fein.

Gives a rather black new meaning to the slogan:
"Come alive, you’re in the Pepsi Generation!"
The amount seems small enough by their standards that it probably was just an error, although Pepsi spokesman Terry Ryan has a name that suggests otherwise. However, many Irish-Americans have little knowledge of the actual politics/history involving NI and this might just be one of those cases. At least they appear to have recognized the error.
Now I would like them to recogize the error of sponsoring Team China in the upcoming Olympics (not to be outdone Coca-Cola is a 100 million dollar sponsor of the Games themselves). However, since each cola giant is seeking ever greater markeet share there, I doubt they will back off. Coke sold over 4 billion liters of its product in China last year, Pepsi near 3 billion.
I’ll stick to beer until they change their ways.
"I’ll stick to beer until they change their ways."
You’re commitment to human rights is an inspiration to us all.
"I’ll stick to beer until they change their ways."
Mahons,
That sounds like the perfect way to protest. Actually, I was doing a bit of protesting last night myself.
‘ll stick to beer until they change their ways.
But, not Bud, right Mahons? [also Tsingtao and that other Chinese beer too]
"Acting for Innocent Relatives (FAIR)."
Ahh bless dear Willie Frazer. Sure isn’t his group the only one who represents victims, or if not aren’t his victims more victims than the other victims?
Get real!
There are vicitms of every persuasion. Only "F.A.I.R" are unable to recognise ALL victims. I think Relatives For Justice would be a better point of reference. Ask Raymond McCord Snr.if you don’t believe me.
So, the Coca Cola’s or the Pepsi Cola’s, which of those are the dissident’s? My money’s on the real thing.
"But, not Bud, right Mahons?"
Surely that goes without saying?!
My friend Seth is the ultimate beer snob. For years, I bore his brew-based insults in silence, but then years back, I saw my chance.
He really needed my help on something work related, and I told him that I would be happy to give it. On one condition.
He had to meet me at O’Hara’s bar on Cedar Street, and drink a 12 ounce bottle of Budweiser. Oh, if only there was a camera there.
Then there was the time I infiltrated a beer snob group, himself included, at the Antwerp beer festival. You know, Campaign for Real Ale , that type of hardened criminals.
Late in the evening at the festival, I opened a can of Budweiser and guzzled it down.
Its a wonder they keep inviting me to these things.
Yes, I’ve had to boycott my favorite beer. But there are others, praise God.
