No Atheists in a Foxhole

By Patty On November 19th, 2013

President Obama’s second term is quickly unraveling. Off the top of my head, here is a partial list of Obama Administration scandals :

— Fast and Furious, in which the Obama Administration supplied Mexican drug gangs with American guns;

— Benghazi, in which the American ambassador was killed while the Obama Administration watched and then lied – repeatedly – on national television;

— NSA, in which the Obama Administration spied on foreign allies and American citizens;

— IRS, in which the Obama Administration used the Federal tax collection agency to harass and intimidate political opponents after the Democrat 2010 election losses;

— Middle Eastern foreign policy, in which Obama is incoherent.

And now, the botched ObamaCare rollout, complete with a website that does not work and clarity within the ordinary citizenry as to the lies that we have been told regarding this program. From Politico:

Vice President Joe Biden is looking to a higher power when it comes to the success of HealthCare.gov.

“The truth is, we’re going to fix it,” he said of the website while meeting with volunteers in Houston. “God willing,” he later added.

  1. – Fast and Furious, in which the Obama Administration supplied Mexican drug gangs with American guns;

    — Operation Wide Receiver

    – Benghazi in which the American ambassador was killed while the Obama Administration watched and then lied – repeatedly – on national television;

    — 13 consulates attacked during the Bush presidency

    – NSA, in which the Obama Administration spied on foreign allies and American citizens;

    — Warrantless wiretaps under Bush

    – IRS, in which the Obama Administration used the Federal tax collection agency to harass and intimidate political opponents after the Democrat 2010 election losses;

    — And they went after the NAACP after it criticized Bush

    – Middle Eastern foreign policy, in which Obama is incoherent.

    — Iraq War

  2. Don’t forget Reagan sending arms to the Islamic Republic of Iran. That was the best.

    And that the ” Fast and Furious ” strategy of allowing ( even more ) lax weapon sales along the border originated with federal law officials in Arizona in 2006. When GW Bush was president.

  3. lol.. it’s Bush’s fault!

  4. Phantom,

    Are you that bigoted and narrow-minded that you excuse the current deliberatley bad and poor government by citing errors of judgement made in the past, and in very different situations.

    Do you not believe that politicians – if they genuinely have the nation’s best interests at heart – should learn from the mistakes of the past?

    What mistakes Bush or Reagan may or may not have made has been replicated many times over by the current incumbent, – but then his agenda is quite different from either of the two you mentioned.

    Even the comparatively mild misdemeanours of Watergate have been expanded far beyond anything that would have been acceptable then.

  5. Love is blind, Ernest.

    Phantom is in love with the statist agenda.

  6. Bigoted?

    Reagan should have been flung into a prison cell for sneaking weapons to Islamic cutthroats like that.

    You guys whine and bellyache 24/7 about Obama, but you forget the very, very recent past misdeeds by ” your team “.

    The ATW Axis of Stupid has no principles at all behind it – its all ” Republicans and Democrats “, Carville / Karl Rove style.

  7. You can’t hide behind a supposed even-handedness, Phantom because it makes no sense.

    Reagan was over 30 years ago. Bush is already 6 years ago.

    Obama is POTUS today, now. Hoy. Ahora.

    ObamaCare takes over 1/7 th of the US economy and it’s a failure.

    Obama is failing now. In real time.

  8. And, while you can’t hide behind the past and you can’t recreate it, either, Phantom. ATW is not MSNBC.

    I don’t defend gun running but let’s be honest – the predecessor program to Fast and Furious had different goals in mind and actually tracked the guns, unlike Fast and Furious. Obama’s Fast and Furious was designed to create gun mayhem creating panic and facilitating gun control. It was political cynicism/theater, against the American people.

    As for Reagan arming Islamists – I think you just made that one up, my friend.

    now back to the present – your statists are wrecking balls to our economy and freedoms – what say you?

  9. You guys never acknowledged Bush’s bad actions / errors when in office, and have barely said boo since he’s been gone.

    It’s all Republicans’n’Democrats to you.

  10. As for Reagan arming Islamists – I think you just made that one up, my friend.

    Just do demonstrate what you are up against Phantom.

    What is they say about playing chess with a pigeon?

  11. Not true. I actually think Bush was a crap President.

    I would list the reasons for you but what would be the point of that? This is not 8th grade history class.

    Stop hiding behind “even handedness.” It’s baloney and you know it.

    You believe in the statist progressive mission – and you will rationalize, it appears, anything to further it along. Just be honest – you will forgive anything for Socialist Utopia – like Mao and Castro and their followers before you – long death marches and Gulags – all ok, for the Common Good.

  12. Statism. Socialism. Progressivism. Liberalism. – all the same disease.

    Enslave us in the name of the Common Good.

  13. The point is Patty, if Bush had marched you to a Gulag all he would have had to do was call it a liberty walk.

  14. “Just do demonstrate what you are up against Phantom.”

    lol. yes. let’s discuss Reagan and Bush, children. seriously. fiddle while Rome is burnt to the ground by the Progressive Movement.

  15. My point is, daytripper, that this is not MSNBC – personal insults don’t exist in a television vacuum.

    your 4:53 is a stupid comment – and, like Phantom who hides behind the past, it proves to me that you have nothing of substance to say in defense of the crashing and burning in real time of the Progressive pipe dream that is ObamaCare.

  16. dt

    Tell me about it.

    I am convinced that neither Patty nor Troll nor any of the others said one bad thing about Bush when he was President. There’s certainly no written evidence of it. And they ( Troll anyway ) were blogging a lot when GWB was president.

  17. So. That’s it?

    Blame Bush. Blame Patty/Troll for not blaming Bush enough. Petty insults. Distract.

    Meanwhile, the Progressive wet dream- ObamaCare – is dismantling an excellent healthcare economy in the name of the Common Good.

    When do you wake up?

  18. Patty- there is a credibility problem when people attacking Obama have a track record of supporting or at least not protesting very similar actions when done by Bush.

    For example criticising Obama’s excessive spending- including Obamacare- without have said anything about Bush’s massive and expensive expansion of Medicaid. Or lambasting Obama on Libya and Syria without ever having acknowledged the monumental screw ups that Bush made in Iraq- regardless of whether that war was justified or not.

    Perhaps this is unjustified but it comes across as though your decision to support or oppose something depends on the party affiliation of who is in office at the time rather than the issue itself.

  19. //As for Reagan arming Islamists – I think you just made that one up, my friend. //

    No wonder you want to forget the past, Patty.

    //Are you that bigoted and narrow-minded that you excuse the current deliberatley bad and poor government by citing errors of judgement made in the past, and in very different situations.//

    //and, like Phantom who hides behind the past//

    Look, kids, it’s like this: on this site you can comment on the subject of the post or comment on reactions to it.

    The former will make sense only if you think it will do some good, that people of the other opinion will at least read and maybe even understand what you say.
    When that isn’t the case, and it usually isn’t, you can instead point out how others are self-contradictory or hypocritical.

    So in this case, Phantom rightly points out that those complaining most loudly about Obama “messing up” the economy are the ones who were docile as sheep when the man they voted for messed up the economy, and who howl about Obama breaking the law, alienating allies etc. when they never complained when their fella did the same and more.

    I needn’t talk about the hypocrisy of those who only now complain about a president starting wars, as that one is so absurd it practically laughs at itself.

    All of this of course is as effective as option A, but it’s much more fun.

  20. Sorry, Ross, but I’m not buying that argument.

    This is a classic case of projection.. of course Phantom sees the trainwreck of this Obama Presidency – but he dare not whisper a word of this out loud, in public – because he thinks that open criticism of Obama might damage the Liberal Progressive brand.

    Everything he accuses me of regarding blind partisanship is in fact true about him.

    But in my opinion, none of this personal stuff matters.

    My credibility? who cares. Phantom’s credibility? who cares.

    What we say or feel can not change the objective facts of ObamaCare. ( Were that the case!! )

    Contrary to the Liberal world-view, there is such a thing as Objective Reality.

    Don’t take my word for it. Judge for yourself: the Obama Presidency is a trainwreck.

  21. “they never complained when their fella did the same and more.”

    total complete fabricated bullshit but let’s not get distracted.

  22. Even Mark Levin complained about Bush. Bush complaints are not new. Nor are they relevant.

  23. You’re not Mark Levin.

    Be thankful for that.

    He’s a hysterical yapping chihuahua.

  24. Everything is in context.

    He is a mediocre President who was a better choice than the two alternatives (McCain or Romney). He followed a far more awful President (Bush). Sadly, there isn’t a lot of hope for greatness on the horizon to replace him. And his term has coincided with a Congress that has acted as a moronic inferno.

    He’s had success and failure, if one is objective. If one is merely functioning as a Patty, I mean Parrot, then listing and exaggerating the failures and ignoring the success is what one should do.

  25. Can you name me one Obama success, Mahons? Increased welfare rolls?

    So, good spin but it ain’t going to cut it.

  26. No, he is a DICTATOR who HATES AMERICA.

    Why can’t you see it?

  27. The US economy is doing considerably better than the EU’s

    Give the Dictator credit for that.

  28. Phantom, on November 19th, 2013 at 8:03 PM Said:

    The US economy is doing considerably better than the EU’s

    I think you are in considerably more debt as well 😉

  29. We got out of Iraq

    We still have a domestic auto industry that after restructuring is doing well

    The US made money on the AIG bailout.

  30. Phantom, on November 19th, 2013 at 8:09 PM Said:

    We got out of Iraq

    You fuc***d up Iraq.

  31. You can make the case for that theory.

    But it wasn’t Obama who put us in Iraq.

    He got us out.

  32. I agree Phanton, two Presidents and no plan ‘B’ on Iraq, they just demolished the place and left them to it. Vietnam MK II

  33. Patty – I can’t name you one success, because there was more than one. The Stimulus saved the country from another Great Depression. He did get us out of Iraq. He did give the order that got Osama. He did save the auto industry. He signed laws for credit card reform and improved safety under the FDA. He wacked the ridiculous Space Shuttle program and the F-22 program which cost us a fortune.

    I think he failed in not closing Gitmo, in failing to pass significant gun control legislation, and in not recognizing that because you can do something (spying on allies) doesn’t mean you should. The drone program is very suspect, and needs a complete overhaul. He has also prevented the House Republicans from destroying the nation which is no small deed.

  34. They didn’t demolish the place.

    The country has a lot of problems, but they have economic growth.

    And the persistent demolishers I believe are all Iraqis.

    Your criticism is years out of date.

  35. Pathetic, Mahons…..I rest my case.

  36. Yes, you do.

  37. Indeed.

  38. Patty

    You ask for examples of Obama’s successes, you get them and all you can say in response is ‘pathetic’.

    Poor show Patty.

  39. Very poor show.

  40. As for Reagan arming Islamists – I think you just made that one up, my friend.

    *facepalm*

  41. They are pathetic.
    Partial credit to Mahons for writing something that wasn’t a personal insult (a first?) but:

    “The Stimulus saved the country from another Great Depression. ” basically is a hypothetical that says that Obama saved us from something that would have/could have happened and it’s just BS,

    No more time to fisk the nonsense but it’s weak tea and you know it.

  42. Do you know what the word “hypothetical” means?

  43. She was unaware that the unions crushed Governor Ah-nold in the California referendums, so I don’t know why we expect more knowledge about Iran than we get about her home state.

    There is a consistency at work here.

    The first three of those- stimulus was a continuation of Bush’s policy, leaving Iraq was done on the time table agreed by Bush, and the lead that uncovered Bin Laden was found under George W Bush.

    Most of the the failures are also continuations of Bush’s policies- spying on allies, Guantanamo etc.

    The two administrations are very similar in overall policy.

  45. They are. That is true comment.

    But to listen to Patty’n’Troll Obama is Lucifer who has unwound all the good things and who is a break from all past good presidents

    And Obama as president could have decided to stay in Iraq- he didn’t ( to the dismay of Troll who wanted US troops to remain there )

    He could have decided not to pull the trigger on OBL

    etc etc

  46. Ross- Both Bush and Obama were more centrist in actions than their detractors or supporters would admit. The failures on Obama’s part as to Gitmo and increased spying are not merely continuation of Bush practices but contrary to Obama’s campaign promises. At least Bush seems to have believed in the value of the Gitmo detainments and proceeded accordingly. Obama spoke out against Gitmo but continued the policy because of political expediency.
