The Enemy of my enemy is my friend…or something like that
By ATWadmin On October 31st, 2008Hillary Clinton supporters at hillbuzz know what they are talking about.
Mainstream Media, in the tank for Obama, are trying the following three strategies designed to discourage McCain supporters, and to depress Republican voter turnout:
(1) Calls for McCain to just give up and quit, because the race is over.
(2) Wild claims of Obama winning states that shock and surprise you.
(3) Repeated insistance that blacks and young people will decide this election, and they are all going to vote in record numbers for Obama.
Fellow Republicans: when Republicans vote, Republicans win. That’s all that is needed. Show up and vote on November 5, 2008. Just do it.
HT: Wizbang

>>Show up and vote on November 5, 2008.<<
Patty, let’s hope they do, and in great numbers. Like most Republican tactics it will still be too little too late.
When Republicans vote Republicans win
What a meaningless staement that is. It is as profound as saying when raving yellow headed pig bellied monsters vote raving yellow headed pig bellied monsters win.
= it will still be too little and very much too late.
You mean to say that you think the phrase is "hackneyed?"
It’s the simple things that count, Colm. Like showing up and voting. Brushing your teeth. Kissing your mom good-night. Hanging up your coat. Not burbing at the dinner table. Well, I’m just kidding around now..but
when Repulicans vote, Republicans win.
and this is why the Democrat Obama Campaign, and their PR arm, the Mainstream Media, is working hard to say that the race is OVER! Obama WON! look at the POLLS! But, it’s just a ploy. It’s not over.
McCain is going to win.
Patty,
Of course it’s not over, there’s a long way to go. Do you genuinely think that the polls are fixed?
Patty
The Democrat campaign are not saying it’s over. They and particularly Obama are stressing the opposite.
Ps – In some cultures a good loud prominent belch after dinner is seen as a sign of appreciation
and this is why the Democrat Obama Campaign, and their PR arm, the Mainstream Media, is working hard to say that the race is OVER! Obama WON! look at the POLLS
Patty, I think the Obama campaign is doing the exact opposite, and in fact have repeatedly asked that no one get complacent.
It’s going to be tight. Obama doesn’t have it wrapped up and McCain is working it hard.
Last race, I stayed up until two in the morning – not doing that this year. Once they call Ohio, I’m going to bed.
Daphne
You know a guy called Ohio ?
>>Once they call Ohio, I’m going to bed.<<
Daphne, do you know when they start counting? Do they start with the eastern states before polling has closed in the west?
What time (say eastern time) do you think the first results will be in for the eastern states?
Noel,
They are talking about Virginia being ‘callable’ around 8pm EST.
Virginias always like to be first don’t they !
Just heard on Fox that Zogby is about to report McCain 1 point ahead in the campaign!!!!!!!!
>>around 8pm EST.<<
Is EST the time in NY? If so, that’s 1 a.m. CET, and as it’s now 3 a.m. here, I can easily stay up for that!!
Thanks, Pinky.
And Goodnight all!
Terry
Oh dear, you’ve been hearing those funny voices again
it certainly cheered me up anyway
he says nailing his colours to the mast
5th eh?
Remember Remember the 5th of November … one of the buggers will have lost !
and this is why the Democrat Obama Campaign, and their PR arm, the Mainstream Media, is working hard to say that the race is OVER! Obama WON! look at the POLLS! But, it’s just a ploy. It’s not over.
The mind really does boggle. They are doing precisely the opposite!
McCain is going to win
Patty, if you are in any way certain about that then you either know something the rest of us don’t or you are a bit dim.
I understand what Patty is saying: ie. when the stakes are high and there is much to lose, those complacent Republicans get out of their comfort zone to make their numbers count at the polling booth.
That could well be the case.
>>McCain is going to win.<<
Patty, Intrade is offering odds of 82 to 16 for Obama or something like that, so if you really believe what you write either you will have lost your house or – in your opinion – be a multi-millionaire by Nov. 5th.
If you are passionate about politics I think it is always a good thing to place a fairly substantial bet on your opponent winning. If he does, then your dissapointment is eased by a nice little jackpot, and if he loses then you are happy to have squandered your cash as your chosen candidate has triumphed.
>>Show up and vote on November 5, 2008.<<
Patty, let’s hope they do, and in great numbers.
Yes. Screw those liberal cheese eaters and their ‘early voting’. The Repubs will go one better: late voting! In the words of Homer J Simpson: ‘Stupid eh? Stupid like a fox!’
Or, those of you who believe, there is surely no better use of your time than to stay home all day and pray for a McCain victory. Have a little faith.
Noel
There’s no national standard as to when the polls open, close, or when the vote count starts or ends. So you can and will have eastern states called when people are still voting in California,–three time zones behind the East– or, god help us, in Hawaii- which is three time zones behind California. This gives some idea of how large the US is.
This reporting of votes from east to west have always pissed off those in the west who feel that when the die is cast back East, that Californians’ vote "did not count"
Florida itself is a huge state, and the western panhandle is in Central time, while the rest of Florida is on Eastern time.. In the year 2000, when some idiot network called the Florida election for Gore when the polls were still open in Pensacola and other panhandle towns. That was an act of the greatest irresponsibility, and it actually did discourage Bush voters from bothering to show up in a part of Florida that is very conservative (*) and that has lots of retired and active duty military as residents.
(*) I lived in Pensacola for a time when in the Navy. We called that part of the state "LA". As in " Lower Alabama ". Completely different from south Florida in demographics, attitudes, etc.
Desperate times for my Republican friends. There has been no movement in the media for McCain to quit. McCain happens to be behind in some states where Republicans usually win -do you not want them to report the obvious – isn’t that (ahem) suppressing the news?
As for young people and black people (and come to think of it young black people) what does a McCain candidacy offer them? Nothing but war, debt and division
When Republican make no sense they make no sense.

Ever go to Bradys Tavern?
It has new owners and a new name now. Was surprised to see this last night.
Don’t do this to me, Phantom. That link – and a glance at Google maps – makes me want to drop all work obligations, neglect my kids and head off there immediately for the the next week!
Also the name sort of rings a bell.
Phantom – I believe so, and I think there is also a Brady’s Tavern on the Upper East side. I never would have imagined that New York had at least two Irish Bars.
This Brady’s is now known as Lilly O’Brien’s.
Jam packed with Irish and a few East London English, with cockney accents that I needed help placing, last night.
Very fresh Guinness at $5 the imperial pint, which may be the best price in town.
Zogby’s most recent 3-day rolling poll shows McCain beating Obama by 48-47 on the last polled day (presumably 31 October). Though the rolling poll doesn’t by its nature put McCain ahead, if it was a non-rolling poll it would simply say
McCain 48
Obama 47
Interesting times.
Terry
Oh God would it be great if McCain snuck in under the wire. After Obama’s been measuring the drapes. The gnashing of teeth would be astonishing in leftworld ( if I may inside-out the silly term being used here! )
The P, it would either be an unmitigated disaster of the first order, or an amazing and wonderful miracle (select according to taste) – I know which one I’m hoping for…
>>Interesting times.<<
The most interesting thing about them is of course how thoroughly rightworld continues to make a fool of itself.
Phantom, re poll closings. We will also see courts ordering certain polling places to stay open after hours. Usually in Dem precients of course! Watch out for Cleveland and St Louis.
The Phantom approves of this message
Here’s a short extract from the speech by Arnold Schwarzenegger at a McCain rally in Ohio that Phantom approves of:
"As you all know, I love Ohio. I’ve been coming here for almost 40 years (cheers). I’ve won the Mister World Competition here, I’ve done movies here, I’ve made business here, I’ve won friends here, and every year the first week in March I come to Columbus Ohio, and my friend Jim Lorham and I, we organise the Arnold’s Classic, which is the greatest body building expo in the world (cheers). Now of course the Arnold’s Classic is all about building up the bodies and pumping up, and that’s why the next Arnold’s Classic I want to invite Senator Obama, because he needs to do something (cheers) … he needs to do something about those skinny legs cheers and laughs. We’re gonna make him to do some squats (laughs and cheers) and then maybe well give him some biceps curls to beef up those scrawny little arms (laughs and cheers)."
By the way, did you notice how ugly and fat almost everyone at that rally seemed to be. What a mass of blubber in every sense the place was!
LOL! Arnie is an embarrassement.
McCain the tratorous scumbag that he is STILL has a good chance of winning
Patty is correct if the Republicans decide to turn out they out number everyone else.
Then election will be said to have been won by race not issues, but they will be wrong
Come on, there was nothing wrong with what Arnie said there. A bit of light hearted humour that’s all.
Arnold’s brilliant. And there’s a lot of meat on that speech there– a number of issues dealt with forcefully in a short time.
He does have a terrific sense of humor too. I like him. He’s barely Republican at all, but he’s a good man.
–McCain the tratorous scumbag–
Shame.This is my response.
"Oh God would it be great if McCain snuck in under the wire. After Obama’s been measuring the drapes. The gnashing of teeth would be astonishing in leftworld"
It would be hilarious if he does win after all. The conspiracies and wailing would be of epic proportions. Whilst I’ve been predicting an Obama win since January, even when McCain went ahead back in September it still isn’t impossible that the polls are wrong.
Registered Republican numbers have fallen in the last 4 years due to unhappiness with the administration, so it is possible that the samples of independents that the polling companies are using haven’t been weighted to take account of the fact that a disproportionate number of them are ex-Republicans who are still more GOP leaning than Dem leaning.
