Brexit costs Money (Squared)

By Mike Cunningham On November 11th, 2017

European Union demands Britain pay its fair share of all projects signed up to during her membership of the European Union.

That is all projects, useful, practical, helpful: or not; over four decades of waste.

Even the real pie-in-the-sky projects, dreamed up by people who fell in love with an idea so ridiculous that it should have been rubbish-bin-bound before being even printed.

Let me lead you down the path of sheer, utter stupidity; which, amongst others, had cost British taxpayers just over a million quid before the Government came to their belated senses and cancelled the whole stupid, outrageous, silly shebang: and then, the lunatics having taken over the Asylum, are again considering spending lots of our cash on, well, absolutely nothing workable at all! As well as the sheer lunacy of the Climate Change Act, which will cost us, here in the UK, billions of pounds to achieve: absolutely nothing!

The EU wanted to show super-willing, with all the garbage about either ‘Global Warming/Climate Change  (GW/CC) due to man-made Carbon Dioxide (CO2), which they claim too much of which is changing the weather, melting the ice-caps and flooding Pacific Islands. Lots of people have written lots of stuff about GW/CC, so I won’t bore you with the details. When I state that the first bloke to run with this lunacy was an American POLITICIAN named Al Gore, which should really have warned a lot of sensible people that a whole heap of cash was heading, well, Gore-wards! Suffice to say that ten thousand scientists have bodged up twenty million reports, graphs and papers, all telling us we’re all doomed: and people like me, only much, much smarter; are calmly saying “Hang about a bit, if you are right, we should be seeing this, or that. Instead, folks, we are seeing, well, not a lot of change at all.”

So the Europeans heard of the ‘Gold Standard’ of GW/CC strategies, which is Carbon Capture & Storage. This scheme, which basically says any Carbon Dioxide which comes from, say, a coal-fired Thermal Power Station should, I repeat SHOULD, be stored safely, preferably underground, and not released into the atmosphere, where it would be allegedly melting all that ice at the North Pole, and possibly the South Pole as well. So they spent £520 million quid on the planning and various detailed projects, and came up with Sweet **ck All; because they had got their sums wrong, and the (hoped for) technology just would not work, or be efficient, or not run thirty times over budget!

The British side of things was to set up a competition to design, build and operate a C.C.& S system, worth One Billion quid; but then they cancelled it, as I wrote, because it just would not work, and then some clown got the ear of yet another POLITICIAN, and now Claire Perry thinks she can SAVE THE WORLD from, well, not very much at all!

  1. Claire Perry thinks she can SAVE THE WORLD from, well, not very much at all!

    You forgot to add #Despitebrexit.

  2. My general rule of thumb on global warming being caused by man, is, if Al Gore is involved, then it’s a seriously high probability of being a load of o!d guff.

  3. There’s been a bit of a scandal within the UK government which isn’t being addressed and I had believed that it would be – unless I’ve missed it.

The implications of the political scandal which cost Priti Patel her ministerial career will have a devastating impact on British Jewry, senior figures have predicted.

Communal representatives and pro-Israel activists believe the affair will bolster antisemitic conspiracy theories and damage relationships with British politicians for a generation.

It may be that Jews themselves exposed this scandal, as it was reported initially by the BBC, and the plan is clearly to use this to stop Brexit.

However, certain Jews are thinking that a scandal by Israeli Jews to divert British money to Israel – which was arranged through secret meetings in Israel with top Israeli officials – makes the Jews look bad.

Worse, it feeds into the ‘conspiracy theories’ of anti-semites who believe that Jews manipulate foreign governments into funneling money to Israel.

Let me just restate that: Jews fear that exposing a Jewish conspiracy to funnel money to Israel will bolster anti-semitic conspiracy theories about Jews conspiring to funnel money to Israel.

  4. Just plant some more bloody trees ! Good for real carbon capture. Looks nice. Low upfront and maintenance costs. Good for the environment and wildlife. FFS someone please give me that woman’s job. I will do it for FREE!

  5. Just plant some more bloody trees !

Mayor Khan ‘pledged’ before the sucker’s voted for him, to “plant two million trees”

He actually managed to plant …none.

In his manifesto Sadiq Khan promised to “plant two million trees by 2020” – it was one of his key policies to combat the undoubted green credentials of Zac Goldsmith. Two million trees over 4 years is some 10,000 trees a week, in fact it is exactly 1,369 a day, every day for 4 years. Clearly Sadiq needs to get cracking with a shovel to meet his target…

So Guido asked City Hall how many trees (to the nearest 10,000) had been planted so far?

No tree planting has been funded since the beginning of this administration as part of this programme.

That is a grand total of zero trees. In fact there are no plans to plant any trees this year…

  6. That’s the spirit Italy!

    Screw the Brussels mobsters.

We will never be your slaves!’ Italy in crisis as THOUSANDS demand EXIT from ‘EU MAFIA’

THOUSANDS of protesters took to the streets yesterday to demand Italy leaves the EU immediately, with march slogans labelling the European bloc a mafia.

  7. 7 hours ago .. Guido Fawkes.

After having dug to a depth of 10 feet last year, French scientists found traces of copper wire dating back 200 years and came to the conclusion that their ancestors already had a telephone network more than 150 years ago.

Not to be outdone by the French: in the weeks that followed, American
archaeologists dug to a depth of 20 feet before finding traces of copper wire. Shortly afterwards, they published an article in the New York Times saying : “American archaeologists, having found traces of 250-year-old copper wire, have concluded that their ancestors already had an advanced high-tech communications network 50 years earlier than the French.”

A few weeks later, ‘The British Archaeological Society of Northern England’ reported the following: “After digging down to a depth of 33 feet in the Skipton area of North Yorkshire in 2011, Charlie Hardcastle, a self-taught local amateur archaeologist, reported that he had found absolutely bugger all. Charlie has therefore concluded that 250 years ago, Britain had already gone wireless.”

  8. Did they spend any of our money on projects agreed before we joined? Clearly, by their logic, this should be returned.

And the £14,000,000,000 we donated to bail Ireland out of a hole.

    Can have that back.

  10. And access to British fishing waters, will be £50,000,000,000

    Cash or cheque will do.

  11. And the £14,000,000,000 we donated to bail Ireland out of a hole.

    Can have that back.

You are already getting that back plus interest.

I won’t be getting back any of the penal taxes I paid to do same.

  12. And the £14,000,000,000 we donated to bail Ireland out of a hole

Britain didn’t ‘donate’ £14,000,000,000 to Ireland, she lent Ireland £3.2,000,000,000 in 2010 which Ireland is still repaying with interest:

I hope that Britain is going to pay the €9,,000,000,000 defecit she owes Ireland before she skedaddles:

  13. And the £14,000,000,000 we donated to bail Ireland out of a hole.

Paul is correct in that it was no donation, it was a loan. If I take out a loan in order to buy a new car, that’s not a donation.

And also, it was not necessarily any favor to Ireland.

It was part of a larger bailout of RBS and other British and other institutions.

Just as in this country the much misunderstood ” bailout” of AIG, on which the US government turned a profit, was part of a larger bailout of Goldman Sachs. Without that AIG bailout, Goldmans might not be around today ( AIG owed GS a lot of money at the time )
