Lets see how long before the gun is blamed……

By Patrick Van Roy On November 14th, 2017

At least three people have been killed and two children wounded in a shooting in a small community about 15 miles southwest of Red Bluff this morning.

The shooting started shortly after 8 a.m., according to a Tehama County sheriff’s deputy at the scene, who confirmed two children have been hospitalized with gunshot wounds and three people were killed in the shooting.

“Multiple shots were fired in Rancho Tehama, with multiple victims. I am told the suspected shooter is deceased from law enforcement bullets,” a deputy said.

The deputy said he had no information on victims at the school, but children from Rancho Tehama Elementary School have been taken to a safe location, said the deputy, whose name was not provided.

“It’s a very sad day for us in Tehama County,” said the deputy, who was visibly shaken by events.

There were at least 100 law enforcement officers at the scene, with “multiple scenes. We have at least 5 scenes right now,” the deputy said.

A helicopter medical crew reported they were transporting a 6-year-old victim to Mercy Medical Center in Redding. The child had two gunshot wounds, according to emergency scanner traffic.

A second child also was reported to have been shot in the right leg, according to emergency dispatch reports.

A 30-year-old man was also being taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the right thigh, according to emergency dispatch reports.

Initial reports said somebody was barricaded in a structure and there were multiple victims, including one who was dead.

Jose Garcia, who owns the La Fortuna Market, about a half-mile from the school, said he heard “a lot of shooting” near the school shortly after 8 a.m.

He heard there were people injured, but those were unconfirmed reports.

An official at the Corning Elementary School District confirmed the elementary school in Rancho Tehama is on lockdown. Rancho Tehama is southwest of Red Bluff.

No one answered the phone at the elementary school, and an official speaking for Rich DuVarney, Tehama County superintendent of schools, said he was trying to find out what was happening.

The Tehama County Sheriff’s Office escorted a busload of children from the school to the local Rancho Tehama Association, located at the entrance of the neighborhood.

Rosie DeOliveira, administrative assistant at the association, said that deputies have instructed the community to “shelter in place,” stay indoors and stay low.

“Our doors are locked,” she said.

  1. I don’t think anyone would blame the gun itself. Rather the loose laws and gun culture that helps spawn such incidents here.

  2. right……

Tell me Mahons what loose Laws?

  3. Here’s a good oped

What country did they go too?.

  5. Canada

  6. Patrick – the ones that have contributed to our having such an exceedingly higher rate of gun deaths than any other industrialized nation on Earth.

  7. Wise move.

  8. That’s nonsense Mahons. The Laws aren’t Loose, Lax, or Forgiving, what they are is not enforced because the Judiciary are controlled by the bleeding heart left.

  9. Rather the loose laws and gun culture that helps spawn such incidents here.

Those laws and that gun culture were there when mass shootings were rare. Post-modernism is the disastrous culture which spawned this.

  10. Patrick – so it is the Judiciary’s fault?

  11. Pete – your point would have merit if post-modernism effected only the US. Since you’ve previously written how it effects Western Society as a whole then how do you account for the significantly numbers of gun deaths in the US?

  12. No it’s the Animal who pulls the triggers fault. It’s never anyone else. Not society, not drugs, not single parenthood, not poverty, not the cops, lack of education or anything except the individual that pulls the trigger.

The fact that 90% of America’s Violent Crime is committed by repeat offenders is however the fault of the court.

  13. // The deputy said he had no information on victims at the school, but children from Rancho Tehama Elementary School have been taken to a safe location

    🙂

  14. Mahons –

Guns must be confiscated because post-modernism has screwed the culture? That’s not an argument.

Roll back the cultural revolution. It’s easier and will be far more beneficial.

  15. Pete – I think you are even confusing yourself. You blame the gun deaths on postmodernism, yet can’t account for the disparity in gun deaths in the UK as compared to the US where this postmodernism has equal force so we are told. And confiscation of guns is not something i’ve suggested.

  16. Patrick – I actually believe our elevated numbers of gun deaths are attributable to many things, shouldn’t all those things be on the table, or are you unmoved by another shooting at an elementary school?

  17. Sadly Mahons I am unmoved. It does not mean I feel any less for the victims of this horror because I don’t. My heart bleeds for the families whose world came to an end today.

I tire of the same people who stand in the way of prosecuting the animals blaming the Law Abiding.

Prosecution of the 10% of our citizens that commit the 90% of the gun crime in this country would eliminate the majority of the violence in our society that you decry.

Events like this you’ll never stop, crazy is as crazy does and you can’t be put it to an end.

  18. The idea isn’t to eradicate but to reduce. The UK and Ireland for example have far more liberal jurists than we do, yet less gun crime.

  19. bullshit….

This guy was out on bond for stabbing a woman a week ago. If our system was following the Laws on the books this Animal would have had NO ACCESS to any firearms.

Yet a repeat offending predator was let to wonder among the innocent and unsuspecting when he should have been kept behind bars.

    here read…..

The gunman, whose identity was not released, was spotted chasing a vehicle and firing at it, he then shot at a police, police rammed the gunman’s vehicle and ran it off the road, and the suspect was killed by officers, Johnston said. No police officers were injured, he said.

The suspected gunman was charged with assault with a deadly weapon against a woman in January, and that woman is among the four people killed Tuesday, Johnston said.

A semi-automatic rifle and two handguns were recovered after the shooting spree was over, Johnston said.

Brian Flint told the Record Searchlight newspaper in the city of Redding that his neighbor, whom he knows only as Kevin, was the gunman and that his roommate was among the victims. He said the shooter also stole his truck.

“The crazy thing is that the neighbor has been shooting a lot of bullets lately, hundreds of rounds, large magazines,” Flint said. “We made it aware that this guy is crazy and he’s been threatening us.”

check out the rest, this animal should have been behind bars and should never had access to firearms yet even with complaining neighbors he was on the street. WHY? Because he wasn’t be prosecuted and held by the full extent of the Laws he had previously violated.

  20. The murderer had a semi-automatic rifle, the weapon of choice for many mass murderers. Semi-automatics should not be available to the public. Stopping the sale of semi-automatics would be a sensible move to reduce this type of crime.

  21. A semi – auto rifle eh?

I shouldn’t have to repeat the restrictions argument I’ve made numerous times before.

  22. If I recall the Las Vegas shooter had no criminal record which kind of puts your theory on its head. Again there are far more liberal Judges in other developed nation’s where death by firearms are substantially less frequent.

  23. oooooo semi…… is that like Hemi? Dodge just came out with an 850 HorsePower V8….. I know there are people here that would make that illegal too…..

It doesn’t matter if he used a flintlock This person was a KNOWN CONVICTED FELON and HE WAS OUT ON BOND FOR STABBING A NEIGHBOR.

The LAW prohibits this Animal from being near a gun let alone having any and this story is getting very little press…. Why It’s another “Mass Shooting” it’s involved a school and 4 other locations, yet it’s not the lead story in every paper…. Why not?

  24. Gun violence isn’t a simple issue. The acres to guns is clearly too easy, for criminals and noncriminals. Certainly, drugs, crime, mental illness are all factors as well.

  25. oooooo semi…… is that like Hemi? Dodge just came out with an 850 HorsePower V8….. I know there are people here that would make that illegal too…..

You know perfectly well what it means Pat. We’ve had numerous conversations regarding semi auto rifles and concerns about personal and home protection, most recently last week.

What practical need doed anyone have for a semi auto rifle?

  26. there is nothing wrong with Semi Auto weapons, there is no need for additional Laws, the already forbade this animal from owning or having access to a gun.

Where did he get it? He’s a felon when his neighbors complained to the police that he is shooting 100s of rounds a night off and disturbing the peace Why wasn’t his house searched? Why wasn’t he locked up for violating his felony status?

This case is the perfect example of the judiciary allowing an animal to prey on people.

  27. One would think out on bail was a horrible error, the woman he stabbed among those he shot. Why were his guns confiscated? All valid concerns. But criminals and nuts are treated more leniently in the UK and they don’t have the shootings we do.

  28. If someone in the States buys a pile of guns and later becomes a “felon”, who knows how many guns he has and where they are? How can they be confiscated from him?

The solution to these regular massacres is to prevent people getting such weapons in the first place. No sane civilian needs them.

  29. Pat, semi – auto rifles seem to be the common denominator in these mass shootings. The question being asked is what practical use does your naormal 5’8 have for legally having one?

  30. 90% of firearms are semi-auto. You are proposing a ban on 90% of all firearms.

    Sorry that’s not acceptable.

Noel when you become a Felon all your firearms are supposed to be confiscated by Law. Law Enforcement has to go confiscate them same for someone involved in domestic violence cases.

Every Legally bought Firearm in the US is registered to who bought it, who bought what is recorded forever.

  32. 90% of firearms are semi-auto. You are proposing a ban on 90% of all firearms.

No Pat, as I say above and have said to you many many times before I refer to semi auto rifles.

So,again, what practical use does your naormal 5’8 have for legally having one?

  33. Who says they need a practical use? And why is it if I’m just someone that wants to own them because I like them, not a practical reason?

I obey the Law these are Legal Tools

It’s not my fault as a Law abiding citizen that the government refuses to control the animals. So why should I be punished and forbidden to own something because the government refuses to prosecute predators?

  34. And why is it if I’m just someone that wants to own them because I like them, not a practical reason?

    This is the reason:

Semi – auto rifles seem to be the common denominator in these mass shootings

I’m a law abiding citizen. Why should I not be able to own dynamite, an RPG7 or a tank?

  35. I want to carry a flamethrower on my commute to work.

If anyone tries to mug me, it will be how I defend myself.

  36. really?

You consider that an intellectually astute and accurate statement to make as if it’s anyones actual position…. that is you at your best ability at making your case why people should not be allowed to carry guns……

and you expect your views not to be ridiculed. The sadness of the anti-gun loon…. roflmao

Phantom the PhlameThrowing Passenger of NY Public Transit….. watch out !

  37. A flamethrower can be a defensive weapon.

I have as much right to carry it as you have to carry any gun.

Flamethrowers don’t burn people, pyros burn people.

  38. please do, I think might benefit from a stay in Bellevue
