    Oakland coffee shop refuses to serve cops because ‘police presence compromises our feeling of physical and emotional safety’

    Hasta Muerte, a new coffee shop in California, is standing up against police brutality by refusing to serve officers
    The employee-owned shop turned away an officer a few weeks ago when he came in to buy something

    The shop defended its decision saying it has a policy to turn away cops because ‘police presence compromises our feeling of physical & emotional safety’
    The Oakland Police Officers Association sent a letter to the coffee shop expressing a desire to talk about the policy

    Yeah they refuse to sell to cops

    but when they get robbed they’ll be the first complaining there were no cops around to prevent it.

    I personally wonder why a cop would frequent a place which commemorates victims of police brutality on the walls outside in the first place?
