Ya gotta laugh

By Patrick Van Roy On February 2nd, 2019

Sen. Cory Booker is a lunatic and a corrupt politician, but above all he’s just not a bright bulb in the box. The number one issue in the U.S. right now is a Border Wall. The Democrats position is Walls and Fences are Immoral and Inhumane.

This brilliant piece of Elected Genius makes his announcement on his childhood home’s front lawn, and what is behind him the entire time……? A giant Fence…. roflmao.  Now Booker is from Newark NJ. one of the more crime and violence riddled cities in New Jersey and what is the first line of defense in Cory’s home neighborhood ?

A FENCE !

  1. Cory Booker, who I briefly met, Is 1,000,000% more honest on his worst day then Donald Trump is on his best day

Yet you guys worship Trump as the new Jesus Christ 2.0, the best leader in the history of the world

  2. he was 50,000 in debt when he took office by the end of his first year as a Senator his personal wealth increased to over 2 million…….

    it speaks for itself.

  3. he was 50,000 in debt when he took office by the end of his first year as a Senator his personal wealth increased to over 2 million

Corrupt ? Possibly. Stupid ? Well at $2 million better off I’d be inclined to disagree. I will agree about the fence thing and, not that would actually know, I wonder if he is a proud owner of at least one firearm ? Plus, does he lock his doors at night ?

  4. I don’t like Booker. His popularity seems more based on gimmicks than substance. He’said benefitted from social media more than actual accomplishment. I don’t know about the corruption claim, his personal worth seems to be based more on his book deal and speaking fees. His arrangement with his prior law firm is distasteful yet not necessarily illegal.

  5. His net worth is not $2 million

Your number appears to have been created out of nowhere

“ All Democrats are corrupt “ Is the extent of the thought process here

I would pretty much guarantee that Booker will show his tax returns, which will show the facts, Something that your false prophet will never voluntarily do

  6. I would think that nearly all of Booker’s income comes from salary, book royalties, speaking fees.

He was believed to be an honest mayor when he led one of America’s more troubled cities in Newark. His predecessors in that office were very corrupt, There is no indication that Booker was corrupt at all

  7. According to you Phantom all my numbers all my facts on every subject either come out of nowhere or are republican talking points
    https://www.celebritynetworth.com/richest-politicians/democrats/cory-booker-net-worth/

    Cory Booker net worth:
    $3 Million
    Cory Booker’s Salary
    $174 Thousand

    as for Newark

    https://www.politico.com/states/new-jersey/story/2016/01/newark-watershed-corruption-staggering-even-to-jaded-observers-029688

The sheer amount of money that former Newark Watershed Conservation and Development Corporation employees are admitting they took in kickbacks exceeds the suspicions of observers who already expected the worst.

On Tuesday, Donald Bernard Sr. — who was a senior projects manager at the agency that ran Newark’s water infrastructure under then-mayor Cory Booker — pleaded guilty in federal court to accepting nearly $1 million in bribes from contractors.

A month ago, his former boss, the agency’s former executive director Linda Watkins Brashear, pleaded guilty to similar charges.

Former contractor Giacomo “Jack” DeRosa pleaded guilty Tuesday, too, to money laundering charges over kickbacks paid to Bernard, federal prosecutors said.

  8. He has taken a lot of Wall Street money. He is a smart guy (Rhodes Scholar) but hasn’t in my memory uttered a particularly original thought. Newark may be beyond saving, but his record there would charitably be called ineffective. He is more of a celebrity candidate, and lord knows we don’t need one to replace another.

  9. I don’t think he’ll get far in the race, the one that I would favor at the moment is Kamala

  10. Patrick – his government salary isn’t his only for his income. In order to establish actual corruption you need to establish that he had illegal sources of income which doesnt seem to be the case. The agency under investigation doesn’t reflect on his personal corruption, but it does point to his lack of oversight.

  11. Why would you favor her? I don’t see her as any less left wing than Booker, probably more so.

  12. the 2 million in talking fee Mahons is bribe money.

Go to the link I put up in the comment it breaks down his royalties and everything. The speaking fees that all these politicians get are money to buy access.

OT…. do you have a pick for the game

  13. She is an easier sell…. and she is backed by a lot of California money.

  14. Booker’s net worth is not known. The link you show presents an estimate. Other sites estimates are at less than 2 million

There is zero evidence that Booker is corrupt. Zero.

You just think that all Democrats are corrupt, while you bow and scrape before a Known liar and thief

Newark is a messed up city, but there has was some economic progress during Bookers watch

  15. The fees for speaking would render virtually every political figure corrupt in that case, including this you have championed here. I don’t like the system, but ithe exists. His payouts from the law firm he worked for are more tainted to me. Plus he doesn’t like alcohol.

  16. Patrick – so when you say you favor her you mean her chances at the nomination, not her positions. Got it

  17. yes mahons

  18. I would agree with Patrick. Harris has star power, but I think her policies are too left wing to win the general election. Nice looking babe though!

  19. In a Trump-Harris contest he probably would win. I’d actually consider not voting.

  20. You just think that all Democrats are corrupt, while you bow and scrape before a Known liar and thief

No I think all politicians are corrupt on both sides of the aisle which is why we need term limits.

    I bow to no man.

  21. As for The Game, the Saints were robbed. So I am torn between my instinctual rooting against New England and my dislike of the Rams.

  22. They’re not all corrupt- Saying that they are all corrupt is a complete cop out

  23. anyone but the patriots, and yes the saints were robbed.

  24. There have been recent cases where ( NBA ) officials were corrupt , Where refs have gone to prison

The non-call against the Saints on a foul that blatant Would make me think that corruption among NFL officials is a possibility

  25. If I were the Rams, I’d air up those footballs! I can’t stand Brady, b/c he’s too perfect.

  26. did you see the story about the kid who won the science fair by proving the underinflated balls were a cheat…..?

    https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/tom-brady-cheater-according-10-year-old-kentucky-boy-s-n962676

  27. I used to swear the NHL refs were corrupt.

  28. The game is so fast, the facts often so unclear, That errors are inevitable No matter how good the referees are

But the saints play was 100% out in the open, When everybody was looking at it

That call should have been reversed, Those refs should never work another game

It was impossible for an honest man to get that call wrong

  29. it was blatant

  30. They’ll be talking this off season about the coach being able to throw a red flag on a non-call, I’ll wager. The Rams never led in that game until they won it in O/T.

  31. Speaking of Fences…..

Israel begins construction of new Gaza border barrier

    Jerusalem (AFP)

Israel said Sunday that work to strengthen its border with the Gaza Strip had entered a new phase, with construction starting on a massive new barrier along the frontier.

“Over the weekend we began building the above-ground barrier along the Gaza border,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told journalists before the weekly cabinet meeting.

The barrier, set to stand six metres (20 feet) off the ground, “will prevent terrorists from Gaza from penetrating into our territory on the ground”, he said in Hebrew.

Netanyahu gave no further details but a defence ministry statement said that work on the structure began Thursday.

It is set to follow the 65-kilometre (40-mile) course of an underground barrier also under construction meant to neutralise the threat of cross-border tunnels built by Gaza militants.

  32. Interpol just arrested 2 of the Caravan organizers from Honduras

  33. here’s a little good news

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran’s semi-official ISNA news agency is reporting that a fire in the country’s space research center has killed three scientists.

The Sunday report quotes Telecommunications Minister Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi as saying that three researchers have died “because of a fire in one of the buildings of the Space Research Center.”

  34. any of the new york crew wandering through queens?

A tiny Queens block has become a booming hotbed of hookers operating out of at least eight Chinese massage parlors, The Post found.

The slim strip of 40th Road in Flushing’s Chinatown, just a short walk from Citi Field, has become a 24/7 destination for sex-seeking horndogs from all over the metro area, as “masseuses” brazenly compete for johns on the narrow sidewalks.

One former NYC crimefighter said he hasn’t seen such a dense concentration of flesh factories in years.

  35. Now Booker is from Newark NJ. one of the more crime and violence riddled cities in New Jersey

and Newark needs another 10,000 criminals, or it won’t survive……

    Speaking of Fences…..

Israel begins construction of new Gaza border barrier

Is Chuck Schumer aware that Israel builds real infrastructure to keep out illegals? He should be because he’s a jew and he’s strongly supportive of Israel’s security. Clearly he doesn’t believe that walls and fences are immoral – for Israel

  36. 5 years ago he didn’t believe they were immoral for us….. everything is fluid dontcha know

  37. screw it the damn Patriots won……. boooo hisss

  38. “The number one issue in the U.S. right now is a Border Wall.” Wrong. The number one issue is Trump’s incompetence, corruption, foreign policy blunders and the lousy job he has done for two years.

  39. NYr when did you become this inflicted with TDS….?

Dude chill it’s just one president. This is what I can’t stand about this whole situation….. The way you, Phantom and others feel about Trump people on the otherside felt exactly the Same way about Obama, but they couldn’t bitch like you anti-trumpers can. If they lost their minds half as much as you clowns do over Trump they would be stoned alive in the street as a racist….. but you people get to go all unhinged. You don’t have to present a reasoned argument against him….. you ought to be ashamed.

Get over it we had a marxist academic for 8yrs, your stuck with a carney barker for 8.

  40. Under Obama, Congress wasted:

3 Billion on a broken Obamacare website

3 billion on Obama’s failed Cash For Clunkers program

2 Billion on the Solyndra scandal

    Billions to IRAN

But they’re not okay with 5 billion for a border wall to keep America safe?

  41. Obama are had real tangible results for poor people

  42. yeah creating poor people….. more people went bankrupt and were foreclosed on under Obama than any other president.

  43. Yes, especially since ” the dictator ” inherited a collapsing economy with frozen credit markets globally.

He should have allowed the auto industry to collapse, etc, the way that the Republican base fakes phonies and frauds wanted, including a number of the local fakes and ideologues, so you could have seen true collapse and twice the banktrupcies and foreclosures.

  44. Trump pushing a reluctant thing like the congress doing it’s job and cutting taxes turned the economy around in 18mths.

Obama didn’t do crap for 8yrs except make it worse, and blame Bush…. just like you!

  45. The record shows otherwise.

  46. what record Phantom……?

    The Record Bankruptcies

    The Record Home Foreclosures

    The Records on Food Stamps

    The Record Unemployment

The Record Deficit spending that equaled all presidents before him combined….

You mean that record of Obama ?

Because that’s his factual record and you can’t spin it… you can keep eating those mushrooms that make you think otherwise, but I haven’t seen any sign of sanity in you for two years now. I guess we’ll have to wait 6 more years for that.

  47. Now the new crop of Democrats are at it again with the class warfare. Your money is evil Mr. Billionaire, so give it to us, lol.

  48. AOC says the NFL Owners should pay extra tax for not hiring Kaepernick…. roflmao

  49. but that may just be a rumor…..

  50. “AOC says the NFL Owners should pay extra tax for not hiring Kaepernick…. roflmao”

“but that may just be a rumor…..”

Not a rumour. Just factually untrue. AOC has proposed a 70% tax on incomes over $10,000,000. A Texas congressman tried to make a joke at her expense about taxing the Patriots at 70%. It wasn’t particularly clever or particularly funny, and seemed to be as about effective as the Rams offense was on Sunday. AOC tweeted back that “The average NFL salary is $2.1 million, so most players would never experience a 70% rate. The owners who refuse to hire Kaepernick would, though”.

She is correct. Most NFL players would never pay that tax rate should it be introduced. In fact the New England Patriots have only two players who earn, on average, more than $10M a year (Tom Brady and Stephen Gilmore). In terms of cash paid in 2018 only 3 Patriots players earned more than $10M (those two players plus Shaq Mason – who signed a new deal and received his entire signing bonus in 2018).

So she is not saying that owners who don’t hire Kaepernick should be taxed extra. She is saying that the NFL owners, who she points out won’t hire Kaepernick, will earn more than $10M a year and so will pay the 70% tax.

    “what record Phantom……?”

The record that shows that Obama inherited a crashing economy and turned it around into the powerhouse that your lord and master The Donald is now taking credit for.

  51. His 1054 Is filled with errors and misleading presentation

He has been corrected on the stuff dozens of times, But he still trots out this garbage every so often to try to trick people. Who here is fooled by this?

  52. where’ve you been hiding……

Nah I wrote the AOC comment before researching it, that’s why I added the disqualifier to it.

but this….. this statement is delusional….

    “what record Phantom……?”

The record that shows that Obama inherited a crashing economy and turned it around into the powerhouse that your lord and master The Donald is now taking credit for.

You’re eatin mushrooms with Phantom aren’t ya? Ya know they’re pushing to make them legal in Denver. You two can live there and indulge your delusions…..

You’ll both fit right in there, lmao…

  53. US GDP $14.4 trillion in 2008, and was $18.6 trillion in 2016. Unemployment was 7.6% in January 2009 (when Obama became President) and was 4.8% in January 2017 (when Trump became President).

Obama took a flat-lining, anemic economy and turned it into a powerhouse that Trump is taking credit for.

  54. I will deal ar times speak with CEOs, CFOs, Treasuers of major. known companies.

In 2008 – 2009, these guys were frightened at was happening in the US and world economy, at how the credit markets had frozen.

Patrick has never spoken of this, because, ten years after the financial crisis ( caused mainly by US banks ) , he still doesn’t know that it happened. He thinks that we had a great economy in 2008, until Obama came and ruined everything in 2009.

I don’t think that there are any successful businessmen that think this way.

  55. They changed how unemployment was counted under Obama….. Obama took a flat-lining, anemic economy and held it under water while he destroyed several sectors of the economy, and wasted Trillions on fantasy projects and cronyism while he gave us….

    The Record Bankruptcies

    The Record Home Foreclosures

    The Records on Food Stamps

    The Record Unemployment

The Record Deficit spending that equaled all presidents before him combined….

Tax cuts and the removal of restrictive regulations on the energy industry have thrown the US economy into a massive boom. For the first time we are actually almost at perfect job growth….

The economy must create 330,000 jobs a month to equal those entering the work place last month we broke 300,000 you are looking at bullshit numbers and spin.

  56. “They changed how unemployment was counted under Obama”

In what manner did they change it. Show me how it was changed.

“The economy must create 330,000 jobs a month to equal those entering the work place last month we broke 300,000 you are looking at bullshit numbers and spin.”

Which is why unemployment rate is the important number to look at. The number of people who are unemployment as a proportion of working age people. 7.6% when Obama because President. 4.8% when he left.

  57. caused mainly by US banks no Phantom caused by Barney Franks and the Democrats meddling in the mortgage industry…… That’s what caused the collapse. And the Trillions the Government printed and threw away under Obama kept the nation spiraling down into a worst financial period for the middle class than the great depression…..

  58. Why listen to this guy

Turn on Sean Hannity and you have the same pack of half truths straight from the source

  59. https://www.forbes.com/sites/peterferrara/2012/02/09/dont-be-fooled-the-obama-unemployment-rate-is-11/#12c545606781

  60. ” worst financial period for the middle class than the great depression…..”

The median household income in the United States grew 5.3% under Obama (after adjusting for inflation – it grew by more but a certain amount of that is yearly inflation). It shrunk by 4.2% under Bush.

  61. Yeah listen to the elitist living in his bubble in NY. Just open the NYT or Wapo and you can read any thought he will ever have……

  62. Seamus more people lost their homes than the great depression, more people were unemployed than the great depression, and more people were in food lines(food stamps) than the great depression,…….. The middle class was decimated during Obama’s Presidency.

  63. read that link from Forbes Seamus

  64. “https://www.forbes.com/sites/peterferrara/2012/02/09/dont-be-fooled-the-obama-unemployment-rate-is-11/#12c545606781”

That isn’t a change in the recording. That is how they are recorded. It is the number of people looking for work, divided by the number of people in work or looking for work. That is always the way it is calculated. That is the way it is calculated under Donald Trump.

Also labor (sic) force participation is also only up slightly under Trump. When Trump became President it was 62.9%. It is only 63.2% now. It actually declined in Trump’s first year of office (from 62.9% to 62.7%).

Its also not really an economic statistic (or an indication of a growing or shrinking economy). Firstly it tracks all people over the age of 16. Not 16-65. So if a 75 year old is retired then that goes into that statistic as ‘not working’. An aging population will cause the participation rate to decline. More students going to university and not into the job market will cause the participation rate to decline.

  65. The US population has nearly tripled since 1930. You Would need to be a complete imbecile Compare gross numbers between two populations that are so dramatically different in size

There are no credible records of the actual numbers who lost theie houses in the depression. The US government didn’t keep such records

Even the gross numbers – which No intelligent person would ever use- are made up estimates

Equating food stamps with food lines of the depression. is also stupid and intentionally false,Those who are on food lines were desperate. Even During good times recently, substantial numbers of people were on food stamps. There are Plenty of people on food stamps who Don’t really need them. I know some of these people, you know some of these people, I see these people in the food lines at the supermarket every week.

    Such a fraud

  66. no it’s not the way it was always counted the dropping of anyone on unemployment for over three months from the number of those unemployed was introduced under Obama.

The real number became the U6 not the U3 number.

  67. “The middle class was decimated during Obama’s Presidency.”

The median household income in the United States grew 5.3% under Obama. It shrunk by 4.2% under Bush.

“Seamus more people lost their homes than the great depression”

Probably. But then there were also double the number of people than there were in 1930. So in order for it to have been worse it would need to have been double that. Its also impossible to compare accurately as the US government doesn’t keep track of foreclosures so getting accurate data for 2009/10 etc.. is difficult. Getting accurate data for 1929/30 is almost impossible.

“more people were unemployed than the great depression”

Unemployment peaked at 24.8% in the winter of 1932. Recent unemployment peaked at 10.0% in October 2009, which is not only lower than it was in 1932, it is actually lower than it was in 1982 under St Ronald.

“more people were in food lines(food stamps) than the great depression”

There were more people on food stamps in the Obama presidency than in the great depression. However there are also more people on food stamps now than there were in the great depression. As food stamps were introduced until 1939, and not permanently introduced until 1964.

So Trump has more people on food stamps than there were in the Great Depression.

  68. There still are many people on food stamps now buddy

Even though they are not food stamps anymore, they give them credit card type things now

I see a lot of those guys buying steak In the supermarket, those people that Patrick thinks are starving depression people

  69. “The real number became the U6 not the U3 number.”

U6 unemployed was 14.2% when Obama became President. It was 9.3% when Trump became President. So even using the U6 number shows Obama was a fantastic economic President. It is now 8.1%. That means that Obama reduced it (in 8 years) from 14.2% to 9.3%. And Trump has reduced it (in 2 years) from 9.3% to 8.1%. That means Obama reduced it, on average, 0.61% every year, and Trump has reduced it, on average, 0.6% every year. Obama wins.

  70. Seamus, you do realize you’re only speaking to the smart people here

The usual suspects are not even going to read what you write, Despite the fact that you are 100% correct

This lot is filled with hatred and ignorance, they have no interest at all in the truth. They hate the truth with a passion

  71. Then Phantom why don’t you leave……

If you feel that way please leave the site it will be much better without you since you feel that way.

  72. “This lot is filled with hatred and ignorance, they have no interest at all in the truth. They hate the truth with a passion”

I think many are like that sadly (on both sides of most debates). However I’ve always believed that the only way to respond to untruths are with facts.

  73. Seamus I would like to have this conversation with you…. maybe another time.

  74. Patrick does not understand numbers,

In any discussion we have ever had he gets the numbers wrong

And here, yet again, he confuses gross numbers with rate, When discussing populations that are completely different size

Instead of shooting your mouth off here, why don’t you take a statistics class Of some kind

How can you talk about numbers when you have no idea what they are

  75. I have a ton of documentation to back me up phantom, but I can’t have a reasonable conversation with Seamus with you involved.

Your arrogance, is only outweighed by your ignorance. Combine the two with your Trump Derangement Syndrome and you make it intolerable.

“This lot is filled with hatred and ignorance, they have no interest at all in the truth. They hate the truth with a passion”

Seriously Tom if you feel that those words are true why are you here?

You make conversation uncomfortable for a lot of people. I would have liked to have had this conversation with Seamus but you blocked it. I’m not the only person you do this to, do yourself a favor find a site where everyone thinks as you do.

  76. Your Comments are filled with half truths And zero truths

You don’t know the any of the fundamentals of mathematics or statistics or business

And this site is not your property. Please act accordingly.

  77. screw you act accordingly I’m not the one saying that everyone here is filled with hatred and ignorance, and that they have no interest at all in the truth. YOU ARE!

I didn’t say you’re banned or delete your comments or shut down the thread. No I walked away from a conversation I was having with someone else because you acted the ass.

Seriously Phantom you are a fool.

  78. Good work, Seamus. That sort of puts things into perspective.

  79. Seamus at another time I will get into this with you. My views are not isolated extreme or partisan and I can make the case in a civil conversation, something that can’t happen with Phantom involved.

Even today people are writing about the disaster of the Obama “Recession” and his handling of it. Here from this week….

Trump Delivers For Workers … After Years Of Empty Obama Promises
    https://www.investors.com/politics/editorials/trump-delivers-for-workers-after-years-of-empty-obama-promises/

  80. Patrick, if it turns out that Seamus’ figures relating to events under Obama, Bush, Trump and Reagan turn out to be correct, will it change your mind in any way about these presidents?

  81. Change my mind in what way Noel….?

    Obama, Bush, Trump and Reagan

Obama was the worst all around President the US has ever suffered.

Bush was Incompetent on domestic policy, but a great War President.

Trump so far has done great on both domestic and foreign policy.

Reagan not only benefited the US, but the entire world.

The only thing that can change is what will be the effect of Trumps full Presidency and that we have yet to see.

  82. Reagan armed the Afghan mujahideen and the Central American death squads ( Contras ) which have led to devastating consequences in the Middle East, Europe and Central America that have not gone away by a long shot.

  83. Patrick,

You often talk of Trump Derangement Syndrome. But I think the editorial team at Investor’s Business Daily have a bit of Obama Derangement Syndrome. For example, during the 2009 Healthcare debates, and sparked by the ‘death panels’ argument, IBD published an editorial saying “People such as scientist Stephen Hawking wouldn’t have a chance in the U.K., where the National Health Service would say the life of this brilliant man, because of his physical handicaps, is essentially worthless.”

So I wouldn’t trust the judgement of the editorial team at IBD.

  84. //Change my mind in what way Noel….? //

I mean in any way you see those presidents. You cited certain economic failings as evidence of Obama’s performance in relation to other presidents. Those data mean something.

Seamus then posted figures that completely contradicted your statments. If it turns out that Seamus’s figures are correct and you are wrong, will it change the way you think about Obama (or Regan or Bush or Trump) in ANY way.

Because if it doesn’t, then there’s absolutely no point in Seamus, or anyone else, debating these figures any further.

  85. Seamus i’ve put up links from Forbes, IBD, and several others. You tell me what publications are acceptable….

Here’s another one from Forbes about what the Head of the fed said….

Ben Bernanke: The 2008 Financial Crisis Was Worse Than The Great Depression

    https://www.forbes.com/sites/timworstall/2014/08/27/ben-bernanke-the-2008-financial-crisis-was-worse-than-the-great-depression/#654088867684

The system collapsed in august of 2007 when I believe it was the French that stopped all trading on bundled subprime investments and it snowballed. The problem was caused by the government and the stimulus to fix it made things worse not better. The effects devastated the middle class.

  86. Seamus then posted figures that completely contradicted your statments. If it turns out that Seamus’s figures are correct and you are wrong, will it change the way you think about Obama (or Regan or Bush or Trump) in ANY way.

No Seamus’s numbers are spin nothing more.

  87. “You tell me what publications are acceptable….”

I’d imagine ones that don’t make basic errors, like not knowing that Stephen Hawking is British. If they can’t even do a basic fact check then it means that you shouldn’t put much stock by what they say.

In general there is nothing wrong with source a or source b. But you need to understand the limitations of it. The article in question, from Forbes, was written Tim Worstall, a UKIP politician. That doesn’t necessarily mean what he wrote isn’t true but it, especially the commentary part of it, should be taken with a bit of caution.

” The effects devastated the middle class.”

You keep saying that yet the evidence suggests otherwise. Under Obama, in real terms, the median household income increased.

  88. is anyone else missing all the edit keys above the comment box? “strikethrough, blockquote, etc”

  89. “No Seamus’s numbers are spin nothing more.”

Ok numbers can spun. But numbers themselves are not spin.

  90. *can be spun

  91. all “news sources” must be taken with a grain of salt. Your say the unemployment numbers weren’t changed how they were calculated. I proved they were.

The economy collapsed under Obama the stimulus and bailouts helped corporate america while at the sametime devastating the middle class. Neither party were able to accomplish an ease for the american people which is also a huge part of why Trump was able to gain the republican nomination.

  92. Obama was not president in 2008

The problem was not in any way limited to the US.

It was caused by extreme recklessness by US financial institutions in the US ( Bear Stearns, Citibank, Washington Mutual ) ; but also by poorly regulated British ( Royal Bank of Scotland ) and Irish and Icelandic banks as well.

The well regulated Canadian banks were not really involved in this market failure, despite the proximity to the US.

If you can’t see this, you can’t understand any part of what happened.

The British, Irish, Icelandic and US banks, and AIG acted with terrible irresponsibility. They destroyed their own shareholders and employees, and nearly took the economy down with them.

  93. “I proved they were.”

    No you didn’t.

“The economy collapsed under Obama the stimulus and bailouts helped corporate america while at the sametime devastating the middle class.”

Actually the economy collapsed under Bush. It recovered under Obama.

And that ‘devastating’ time for the middle classes came at a time when median income was increasing.

  94. yes I did under Obama they dropped longterm unemployment off the unemployment roles. They changed how the numbers were calculated different than any President before him.

Median income for those working did rise, the problem was it was the greatest period other than the depression of unemployment.

The economy did collapse under Bush and Obama made it last 8 years.

  95. “They changed how the numbers were calculated different than any President before him.”

No he didn’t. The long term unemployed who are no longer seeking work have never been included in the job statistics.

“Median income for those working did rise, the problem was it was the greatest period other than the depression of unemployment.”

    Unemployment was higher under Reagan.

  96. No he didn’t. The long term unemployed who are no longer seeking work have never been included in the job statistics.

    yes they were.

  97. “yes they were.”

    No they weren’t.

    ANALYSIS/OPINION:

For the past six years of the Obama economy, I’ve been telling readers that the administration has been juggling its job data to make the unemployment rates look much lower than they really are.

Now, Jim Clifton, chairman and CEO of the respected Gallup polling organization, has written a blistering broadside on the devious way President Obama’s Department of Labor defines its monthly job numbers, calling it “the big lie.”

The numbers do not count millions of Americans who want and need full-time jobs but are not defined as among the unemployed. That, as Mr. Clifton knows well, remains the chief reason why the jobless rate has fallen.

  99. As usual, Seamus is correct.

The methods for calculating unemployment did not change.

And some who are not working are not at all unhappy with that fact, if they have savings or if they have husband/wife who are working.

  100. There is an argument that unemployment figures are misleading. It is simply not true to say however that they were perfectly above board in 2008 and only got misleading in 2009.

  101. The methods for calculating unemployment are all imperfect.

    This is not news.

But if you weren’t complaining about means and methods in 2004, don’t come crying to me about how they were used in 2010.

  102. 2009 is when they changed the calculations…..

  103. “2009 is when they changed the calculations…..”

In what way did they change the calculations?

  104. The methods of calculation have not changed since the 1940s.

The Hannitized wing of ATW aren’t into ” facts “.

  105. They changed who was being counted I’m not the only person who has stated this Seamus.

Here is a radio guy talking about what Kudlow said back in 2012.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFO5uh3NhR4

  106. “They changed who was being counted I’m not the only person who has stated this Seamus.”

I don’t care if you or anyone else is stating it. I want you to show me the evidence.

  107. Hitchens’s razor: What can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.

  108. This is one of these urban legends / conspiracy yarns that the talk radio guys like to bandy about.

You will get your evidence on February 31 2050.

  109. I showed you that they stopped counting the longterm unemployed under Obama. I showed you that multiple financial experts cited the fact that Obama’s numbers were fraudulent.

You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink…. you refuse to drink.

  110. No you didn’t. You cited a number of people who have issue with the unemployment numbers. However the same arguments could be applied to the unemployment numbers of any President or administration.

You have in no way shape or form shown, in any way, where Obama has changed the recording of the numbers.

What can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence. You say he did it. You provided no evidence that he did it. I can dismiss your assertion with no evidence as well.

  111. I showed in 2009 they stopped counting longterm unemployment as part of the number.

  112. “I showed in 2009 they stopped counting longterm unemployment as part of the number.”

    No you didn’t.

You keep showing how some people believe that the numbers are wrong or misleading. You never show were they were honest and transparent in 2008 and misleading in 2009.

  113. oh you want a point by point detailed analysis x vs y…….

    Sorry no can do.

My question for you is do you deny that they stopped counting the longterm unemployed in spite of all the articles I have linked to that discuss exactly that?

Seamus here’s the thing Obama is gone. Except for his criminal activity which has yet to be prosecuted he is irrelevant to today’s situation. As Bush was to Obama, Clinton to Bush, and Trump will be to whoever replaces him….

Right now the American economy just turned on with the smooth sound of a 440 HP V8. It’s sitting in the driveway rumbling. What happens over the next two years will decide whether or not that muscle car pulls out of the driveway or gets turned off and the cover put back on.

Everything for the next 10 years will be decided for a large part on the events of the next two.

If the Dems win the cover goes back on the car. They will raise taxes and raise spending and the economy will shut right off. If the President wins he’ll get reelected, the tax cuts will stay in place and the oil and gas industries will explode exponentially lifting all boats with it.

Both parties in Congress are the main threat to the American Economy and the American citizen. Both parties can’t control their spending. At least if Trump wins oil and gas will continue to grow if he loses the dems will choke it right off and choke the working american with the same two hands.

  114. US oil production increased sharply under the satanic Obama. It more than doubled.

If he wanted to shut off oil production, how did he allow such a thing to happen?

  115. it grew in spite of him….. he couldn’t stop fracking on private ground… although he tried.

  116. So he didn’t shut anything down

    And production more than doubled

    Got it.

  117. It was a technology driven increase in oil and gas production

And the subsequent increases are technology driven also

  118. The drilling technology and attitude changed during the Obama years the whole business shifted with fracking on one side and full deployment of measurement-while-drilling (MWD) technology totally changed the business.

There is nowhere on the surface we can’t extract the oil from. We can drill Horizontally, diagonally even around underground obstacles…..

As these technologies came on line Obama shut down off shore and all public owned land drilling that he could. Cutting off over 60% of areas we could now extract billions of barrels out of, but in spite of that the oil and lng that was now able to be pulled from what could be accessed by the other 40% of private land even with half of that tied up in court we increased our national out put.

The spigots haven’t even been opened yet. They still haven’t completed the multiple pipelines needed to handle the growth that were also blocked for the Obama years.

  119. Most of the pipeline issues are do to local opposition.

Many suburban and other people don’t want any part of a big pipeline near them. There is strong opposition to pipeline projects in PA, NJ and other places.

And presidents have little say in such things.

  125. one last headline…..

LONDON, Feb 5 (Reuters) – The secretary of Iran’s National Security Council warned Israel on Tuesday of a firm and “deterrent” response if it continued attacking targets in Syria.

“If these actions continue, we will activate some calculated measures as a deterrent and as a firm and appropriate response to teach a lesson to the criminal and lying rulers of Israel,” Ali Shamkhani was quoted as saying by Fars news agency.
