IS PAEDOPHILIA AN ILLNESS?

By Pete Moore On March 6th, 2019

Just asking for a Leftist.

Some corners of the Left have been pushing to de-stigmatise paedophilia for a while now. It’s nothing new. Some members of the Labour Party were doing that back in the 1970s. This will become a wider front in the years ahead. One day the accusation will go out that you are “paedophobic” if you don’t conform.

  1. It is a crime and should be treated as a crime.

  2. IMO, a pedophile who is compelled to touch children and who can’t be hindered by drugs or who does not want to take them has an absolute moral duty to commit suicide.

  3. It’s a shame but perfectly unsurprising that Pete trivialises paedophilia as a ‘ lefty’ phenomenon. Paedophilia is unrelated to political affiliations but the left generally has been at the forefront for decades in promoting the aims of tackling sexual abuse of women and children to a greater extent that the Conservative Right have been bothered with.

  4. certain crimes are clean cut capital crimes that should be dealt with capital punishment.

This is at the top of that list.

  5. //Should pedophilia be treated as a crime or an illness?//

An illness (for want of a better word). A paedophiliac simply has the condition, probably had had it all his or her life.

Only when he or she acts on it does it become a crime.

  6. No one cares if one of these guys doesn’t act on it in any way.

But if they do physically act on it, or if they consume underage porn, which directly leads to more vicious exploitation, they deserve no pity.

  7. I don’t think capital punishment is appropriate since there is a real record of wrongful convictions in this area. However a truly guilty person might deserve it.

  8. There’s a record of wrongful convictions in capital cases generally. We’ve discussed some cases here. The Death Fans didn’t take part.

Because people make mistakes, and sometimes witnesses, cops and prosecutors lie.

If you support capital punishment, you support wrongful execution. Because, especially if the death penalty is widely used, there is a 100% chance that you’ll be killing some innocents too.

  9. I participated in every discussion Tom and I have made the case why I support capital punishment, your claim is a Lie from a lying ass that has no clue about anything.

I understand that as a salesman lying is natural stance, a trend you have shown repeatedly for decades on this site.

I support capital punishment and I’ve participated in every conversation on it.

    LIAR

  10. I support capital punishment and I’ve participated in every conversation on it.

No, you didn’t. Not by a long shot.

No one has participated in all of the many dozens of conversations on this topic. I could link to many other conversations on the death penalty that you didn’t participate in.

  11. Here’s a controversial and troubling suggestion.

If Paedophiles could be shown to be satisfied sexually through having access to virtual reality child porn if it provided proof that it effectively reduced offences against real children would it be morally permissible for the state to allow such porn to be accessible to them ?

  12. No.

Because some will want to cross to the ” real thing ”

I have zero sympathy for these people. I don’t want to accommodate them any more that I want to accommodate murderers, those who beat women, who may also acting on their personal urges.

If they can’t stop, let them jump off a very high mountain.

  13. You’re still a Liar Tom.

Keep digging find more obscure threads (which means there really wasn’t a discussion) all you want.

You made a flatout condemnation of those who support capital punishment calling those that do ” Death Fans “.

Supporting Capital Punishment does not make someone a “Death Fan” there are crimes that when people commit them they should be put to death because that is the punishment they earned.

You may not believe any crime is worthy of the punishment of death and you’re entitled to that view.

That doesn’t make YOUR VIEW right and the view that Death is a fair punishment for those crimes a “Death Fan”

    ASS

  14. “Paedophilic” is a pathetic euphemism that child molesters use to downplay their disgusting crimes. They try to promote it as a positive loving attitude to children, along the lines of francophile. It also plays into the hand of child molesters, in that fudges the distinction between desire and action. So we get the ludicrous comments about “paedophilia” being a crime. Of course it isn’t a bloody crime. Desires are not crimes. This nonsense increases the risk to children. We should be throwing the book at child molesters. We should encouraging those with these dreadful impulses/desires to get help, either with getting a cure, or if that is not possible, to keep them away from opportunities to act on them. Those with these inclinations are of two types, those who know that acting on them would be totally immoral and those on a sliding scale of justification. I don’t have any sense of how large a % these groups form of the total. I doubt if anyone really knows as such people are not likely to come forward to identify themselves.

I am absolutely of the view that we should be creating the circumstances where people who have the desire but also the morality to know that acting on it would be wrong, to be able to get the help and support in order to not endanger children. At the same time, if I discovered that a friend of mine was in this category …. well my brain won’t let myself get further down that road.

  15. and that’s twice you’ve recommended people should commit suicide.

What kind of Moral gymnastics does it take to be against the Law punishing someone with death for a crime but ok’s you to tell them to commit suicide for the same crime?

  16. welcome back Aileen

  17. I oppose the death penalty because I think the state should not give itself the legal power to end a human life as a form of judicial punishment. It’s a power too far. The state should not be doing that. My opposition is nothing to do with it being regarded as too cruel. I actually think it’s the opposite. It’s a cop out in terms. Of punishment because the moment a vicious murderer is executed his punishment ends. Genuine life imprisonment is more of a real punishment.

  18. Hi AIleen

Yes I recall you mentioning strongly before your opposition to the term paedophilia. Yes you are logically correct. Perhaps it would be more technically accurate to refer to such people as paedosexuals perhaps?

  19. The justice system makes mistakes. There often is no certainty.

The child predator knows who he is.

I used to support the death penalty. I turned against it after a thought process of many years.

I don’t oppose it on pure moral grounds. A violent murderer deserves such punishment.

My problem lies with the evidence of wrongful convictions, of the certainty that there are many more wrongful convictions. I discussed specific cases here, the death fans did not engage. Tough titty if you don’t like that fact stated.

Very many jurors are morons. Some cops and prosecutors lie or mislead in a hunt for glory or to get the case closed, under public pressure.

There is zero possibility of there being widespread capital punishment without innocents being murdered by the government. I will not support that any more.

  20. Patrick – calm down.

Colm – the porn itself is a crime. I don’t understand what you are suggesting.

  21. Mahons

He speaks of virtual reality, not one based on the vicious exploitation of actual children.

I oppose both, but they’e not exactly the same thing

  22. I dont support such a program and am wary of its reliability.

  23. Yes

This to me is as pure an evil as are snuff films or the like.

Ultimately, this is probably never a victimless crime.

  24. Mahons

Yes of course I was only referring to CGI style manufactured images, not of course anything involving real children. It’s not somerhing I support but just wanted to throw it up as a sort of ‘philosophical’ debating point.

  25. Phantom

Would you support the death penalty for cases where a murderer pleads guilty in circumstances and/or where there is absolutely no doubt of their guilt.

  26. Thanks Mahons

  27. Colm

    No.

There are a surprising number of false confessions, including those from fragile persons badgered endlessly by skilled and manipulative cops.

And I don’t think that life without possibility of parole is an easy punishment.

I am not any pacifist but I oppose the death penalty the more I think about it, and I’ve thought about it a lot.

  28. //If Paedophiles could be shown to be satisfied sexually through having access to virtual reality child porn if it provided proof that it effectively reduced offences against real children would it be morally permissible for the state to allow such porn to be accessible to them ?//

If it could be proven (but how?) to reduce offences and not endanger anyone, then, of course, bring it on. It isn’t damaging anyone, except perhaps people’s sense of taste.

I think sexual attraction to children is more common then people imagine (just look at the amount of sexual art involving children where the subject was not a taboo), and it’s probably also non-exclusive, involving people who also have normal sexual choices. I’d imagine there are probably many good people living decent lives who do have these inclinations but realise that indulging them would be very damaging, immoral and illegal. Such people are more to be pitied than despised.

  29. Years ago I had an opportunity to talk to Bob Graham who was then Florida’s Governor. He said he would sign a death warrant based on two convictions, thinking that sufficient to safeguard against a wrongful conviction. An interesting take on the process.

  30. Yes.

If you live in a death happy state, and you’re poor, good luck in fending off the unlimited resources of the government with your public defender.

  31. Phantom

I don’t believe you oppose the death penalty in all circumstances. I think you would approve it for people who play too much ABBA 😉

  32. Only if they’re soccer fans also.

  33. Phantom,

If you support capital punishment, you support wrongful execution. Because, especially if the death penalty is widely used, there is a 100% chance that you’ll be killing some innocents too.

This is why I don’t support the death penalty.

  34. Colm,

    Well said Colm.

  35. It’s as plain as can be.

And here, those who bang on about the incompetence of the UK and US government day and night want those same governments to have the power to kill people as a punishment when there is a very useful alternative ( true life sentence ) that is available to them.

  36. Phantom,

This to me is as pure an evil as are snuff films or the like.

Snuff films are an urban legend. Unless you’re talking about terrorist beheading videos and the like.

  37. Colm,

I don’t believe you oppose the death penalty in all circumstances. I think you would approve it for people who play too much ABBA 😉

My mother just got a Mamma Mia DVD as one of her birthday presents. I’m worried mate, is she on shaky ground?

  38. Is teaching 5-year-old children about ‘being touched’ a crime? It certainly should be:

    https://www.rt.com/uk/452301-gay-trans-sex-education-children/

Questions discussed during the non-assessed lessons, as listed in the current proposals for the curriculum, will include: “When is it OK to let someone touch me?” for 3-year-olds, and “Why are we all different? Is it OK to be different?” at age seven. At 11, children will discuss “What is the difference between transvestite and trans-sexual?” and by 16, they will be told “how to disclose positive HIV status to a sexual partner, family and friends.”

That’s getting the prey prep’d – there are some seriously sick scum working in OFSTED

  39. Dave

Just a word of warning. If you do meet up with Phantom in Liverpool any time. Best to keep him away from any pubs that play ABBA, unless you like the sound of smashed pint glasses.. 😉

  40. If it is an illness then these people should be Sectioned under the Mental Health Act for their own and the public’s safety.

Pete is right. The Left have the ones that have been pushing this. It is part of Cultural Marxist doctrine to create evermore ‘victims’ needing their help. Not the children of course.

  41. Very cosy for you Mark to simplistically blame the left for child sex abuse.. in truth though, The left have been instrumental in pushing back against traditional right conservative hypocritical morality that swept child abuse under the carpet and refused to deal with it for centuries ( the Catholic Church for example). But of course the reality is that there is no uniform single Right or Left policy to these issues. There are laudable and shameful attitudes and responses to sex abuses across the political spectrum.

  42. As human beings we do not get to decide who or what we are physically attracted to. As such a person shouldn’t be judged or punished for something they have no control over. However, and this is a big however, we do have control over our actions.

So a person shouldn’t be punished or judged for being sexually attracted to children. They should, however, be punished and judged should their attraction to children cause them to assault someone, or watch videos of someone being assaulted.

  43. It isn’t a political divide, there was a white Supremist in Virginia who recently ran for office who advocated decriminalizing this.

  44. And there was a Republican Speaker of the House who was convicted of this way back in 2016

He must have been a ” leftist ” also.

The husband of a local actress was convicted of possessing child porn. She made a play about it, Accidentally Brave

The title — “Accidentally Brave” — is a reference to the people, the many people, who kept telling Ms. Corman “how ‘brave’ I was,” she said. “I didn’t mean to be brave, but this is what I was dealt.”

  45. “Should pedophilia be treated as a crime or an illness?”

The same can be said for progressive liberalism.

  46. Certainly, the way things are going, I’d say that within no more than 10 years from now, we’ll be labelled “paedophobes” if we don’t accept the media’s labelling of paedophilia as an absolutely “normal” lifestyle. It’s garbage, just as the current “there are 47 genders” line is utter garbage.
