TORIES NOW ON THEIR KNEES TO HUAWEI

By Pete Moore On April 24th, 2019

I’d love to know what the deep Tory links are to the Chinese ruling elites. We’ve long known that they’d sell their grandmothers for a quid, but there’s a particularly keen agenda when it comes to China.

The government has approved the supply of equipment by Chinese telecoms firm Huawei for the UK’s new 5G data network despite warnings of a security risk.

There is no formal confirmation but the Daily Telegraph says Huawei will build “non-core” components such as antennas.

The US wants its allies in the “Five Eyes” intelligence grouping – the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand – to exclude the company.

Huawei has denied that its work poses any risks of espionage or sabotage.

But Australia has already said it is siding with Washington – which has spoken of “serious concerns over Huawei’s obligations to the Chinese government and the danger that poses to the integrity of telecommunications networks in the US and elsewhere”.

Ministers are outraged that the news leaked out. They’re in for a shock when the IT arm of the Chinese state gets its claws and backdoors into the UK’s 5G backbone. They’ll have some leaks then, straight to Peking. If it’s only antennas and such, well stuff it, we can build those. We have quite a history of building communications equipment. But it’ll be much more than that, because these are Tories and everything is for sale.

Even when the US and Australia, two key arms of our most critical security network object, the Tories still choose China. One might have thought that supposed conservatives would tread carefully here, but the Tory Party long ago became a conservative-free zone.

Remember, when the Chinese know everything and shut down what they like and when, giving them awesome coercive power, it was Theresa May who let them in. And remember that the Tories have yet again, today, passed up the opportunity to sack the worst Prime Minister in our history.

  1. A truly appaling decision, let’s hope it’s reversed when May is toppled.

This is a re-run of the Hinckley nuclear power station decision. That will be built with Chinese money using a French reactor design. The only thing guaranteed is that it will run billions over budget and be delivered years late, if it’s ever delivered. The guaranteed price per kwh is a scandalous rip-off.

  2. To be fair, and I’m not one to normally stick up for this particular government who seem to be one of the least competent in living memory, the decision to ban them from core projects but allow them to contribute other technology is in line with what GCHQ has suggested. So on an intelligence matter they took advice from the UK’s intelligence community who came up with the policy.

The extent to which the American opposition is based on security concerns is questionable, and may simply be another branch of their trade conflict with China.

  3. May simply be another branch of their trade conflict with China.

Indeed. It’ll be interesting to see if this has an effect on any future US / UK trade deal negotiations.

  4. Trump has created such ill will throughout the world that you could almost see countries going out of their way not to abide by his dictates/commands on Iranian oil, Huawei, anything else.

  5. “Huawei’s founder Ren Zhengfei declared that it would be commercial suicide to go against the interests of customers. But he knows that a quicker method of suicide would be to go against the wishes of Xi Jinping’s Chinese Communist Party. And recent national security laws oblige individuals and organisations to cooperate with the CCP’s intelligence services.

Huawei certainly has form. Every night over several years, information from the African Union HQ in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, reportedly bled to servers in Shanghai. The main supplier of communication technology systems in the building? Huawei.

Earlier this year, a Chinese employee of Huawei was arrested in Poland over allegations of spying. In the United States, the company faces a case for allegedly stealing technology on ‘Tappy’, a mobile phone testing system. Huawei is also accused of offering bonuses to its staff for an unusual form of productivity: technological theft…”

  6. The Americans biggest objections is it will be harder for them to spy on their allies

  7. Just the opposite EP we can already spy on all our allies, but everyone who signs up with chicom 5g automatically hands all their defense and industrial secrets right to them.

  8. Trump has created such ill will throughout the world ……..

  9. https://www.pewglobal.org/2018/10/01/trumps-international-ratings-remain-low-especially-among-key-allies/

European attitudes toward Trump are strikingly negative, especially when compared with the ratings his predecessor received while in office. Looking at four European nations Pew Research Center has surveyed consistently since 2003 reveals a clear pattern regarding perceptions of American presidents. George W. Bush, whose foreign policies were broadly unpopular in Europe, got low ratings during his presidency, while the opposite was true for Barack Obama, who enjoyed strong approval in these four nations during his time in office. Following the 2016 election, confidence in the president plunged, with Trump’s ratings resembling what Bush received near the end of his second term (although Trump’s numbers are up slightly in the United Kingdom this year).

    ( Oct 2018 )

Trump is about as popular in Europe as the Ebola virus.

  10. Trump has created such ill will throughout the world …….

    1) Yurup is not the world

    2) Yuropean attitudes as described by the opaquely funded Pew Global do not show “ill will”

    Any others ?

    People have noticed.

“Just the opposite EP we can already spy on all our allies, but everyone who signs up with chicom 5g automatically hands all their defense and industrial secrets right to them.” Exactly right. It is reasonable to suspect that is what they will do based on past experience. They steal more than they invest.

  13. Your opinion noted.

Others might say he’s a Billy Bullshitter Noo Yawk Bidnessman who only became a problem for the system when he upset the entrenched & well connected elites, as epitomised by crooked lying Hillary.

  14. He -is- the system. He has spent his entire life as a born and bred member of the Manhattan elite.

He inherited the fortune of the richest man in NYC. Since becoming president, he has promoted huge tax cuts for large corporations, with special favors to the real estate industry that he is a part of.

He’s the most dishonest president that we’ve ever had, we can all agree on that.

  15. More dishonest than Clinton ? Nixon ?? JFK ???

    Top tip.

When in a hole, stop digging

  16. A hundred million times more dishonest than Clinton, Nixon, JFK combined.

  17. Trump isn’t one of the ‘entrenched & well connected elites?’

Yeah, he’s like just a normal guy you’d have a beer with.

    Incredible

DONALD TRUMP has always said he is a self-made billionaire. The president insists that the only financial help he got from his father Fred, a New York City developer, was a $1m loan, which he repaid. An investigation by the New York Times (NYT), published this week, concludes that he actually received fifty times that amount, that it was not repaid, and that many of the transfers were dodgy.

The newspaper examined more than 100,000 pages of documents, including financial-disclosure reports and bank statements (but not the president’s tax returns, which he refuses to make public). In the 1990s, it says, Mr Trump took part in “dubious” tax schemes which included instances of “outright fraud”. It concludes that he “appropriated his father’s entire empire as his own”.

As a Canadian I can tell you he is generally disliked and not trusted. We have a few boneheads that believe in MAGA country

You can fool some of the people all of the time but youcant fool all of the people any time

  21. what has he fooled anybody about?

    Please be specific.

  22. so who’s gonna beat Trump?

Uncle Joe gets in the race this week, Crazy Bernie, Bootyjudge, Spartacus, Pocahontas, Rasta Kamala, Bozo Betto? and the list goes on….

  23. now I’ll wait to be called a “racist” “white privileged” “neo-nazi” Trump Supporter….

  24. What has he fooled anybody about?

    Please be specific

Building a border wall and making Mexico pay for it?

    Specific enough?

  25. Every Trump voter believed him when he said a million times

That Mexico would pay for a wall

That he had a secret healthcare plan that would give Everyone better health care at a lower cost than Obamacare or anything else

They pretend Now that they never believed it, but these were the cornerstones of his campaign

  26. Please go back to the very beginning I never believed Mexico would pay for it and said that anyone who did was a fool, but I said we would have a wall he has 18mths left to complete it….

    I don’t think he’ll make it, but I give him a B for effort.

  27. He has exceeded my expectations and has turned out to be doing a damn good job. With the added bonus of making the establishment politicians look like a pack of asses, along with the press.

You can’t buy fun like this.

  28. How about trade wars are easy

  29. I will eliminate the deficit

Cutting taxes will raise the revenues

I will bring back the jobs

    People will respect us again

“He has spent his entire life as a born and bred member of the Manhattan elite.” I don’t think that is the case. He is a BS artist and hustler from Queens. The Manhattan elite has standards and he fails to meet them. Trump has dodgy money and gangster associates, he is uncultured, he is poorly educated, he speaks like a mob underling, he is a not charitable in any way, he has a history of lurid headlines, etc. He has always tried to break into the elite and that in itself is a disqualification. He thought buying the Commodore Hotel would give him Manhattan status but was viewed as a grubby developer. His inability to join the elite, I think, is part of his defense of the ‘little man’ act. He thinks he knows how they feel because he too has been talked down to by elites. He never was and never will be anything but a BS artist and hustler from Queens. I’m not putting down Queens, but in his strange mind Manhattan is where you make it.

  31. Point well made

He was born into significant wealth, but yes, he grew up in Queens.

( His father never built in Manhattan. Donald Trump’s best economic move was to bet big on Manhattan when the city was having problems, when many thought that the city was the past, the suburbs were the future )

  32. That BS artist and hustler from Queens is President of the United States you don’t get more “elite” than that there have only been 45 in all American history. Kind of looks like he stepped right on over the “NY Elite”.

The exceptional bile you three from NY feel towards him is actually rather shocking.

  33. “The exceptional bile you three from NY feel towards him is actually rather shocking.”

    Not shocking, just drearily predictable.

& the laugh is, he’s still your President !

  34. Please go back to the very beginning I never believed Mexico would pay for it and said that anyone who did was a fool

What? You didn’t suggest that Mexico could be made to pay for the wall by doubly taxing any remittances sent back to Mexico? You didn’t actually admit that Trump lied in his electoral promises by claiming that his promise to build a wall was ultra vires to his Presidential powers?

That’s what he fooled people about.

Yes, Trump’s not a member of the elite at all:

    https://www.idesignarch.com/inside-donald-and-melania-trumps-manhattan-apartment-mansion/

Everybody in the US lives in such tasteless 24 carat vulgarity.

  35. None of the Trump supporters here said —before the election— that they didn’t believe in Trump’s signature promises

Anything that they said after November 2016 Is completely meaningless

    Dj

We’re speaking the truth, and Some people can’t handle the truth. Trump has been known as a thief a liar and a con man in his home town for decades. It’s well documented. Very many in the business community here, including those who agree with him on positions such as taxes and illegal immigration, have long known him as a fraud, an empty suit – Something that the broader country and the world now knows.

  36. Paul

    Agree.

That apartment is without any taste at all.

    WRONGO WACKJOB!……

I don’t care if you’ve been driven to the point of a foaming mouth frenzy you’re still not allowed to Lie.

You’ve done this since day one of his Presidency Phantom. Anyone who doesn’t hate him and get their panties in a bunch over the fact that he’s President let alone say he is doing a good job Well my god you’re a Trump super supporter blindly marching in lockstep….. the only idiots marching in lockstep are the lunatic left.

I supported Ted Cruz. It came down to Cruz vs Trump, when Cruz was eliminated I threw my support behind Trump. I said back then Mexico will not Pay for the wall that it was campaign rhetoric. I’ve also said that if he was guilty of anything I would hand out the Pitchforks and Torches to the Villagers.

After an over 2yr investigation they couldn’t even find unpaid parking tickets, and the only thing stopping the Wall is the lunatic Left.

The Economy is booming, unemployment is at a 50yr Low, I repeat unemployment is at a 50yr Low….. and we are energy independent despite another Judge legislating from the bench putting the Alaska range and offshore drilling off the board again yesterday.

Stick to your mad dog mouth foaming on subjects you know about….. wait then you would have nothing to say……

  38. I said back then Mexico will not Pay for the wall that it was campaign rhetoric.

Did anyone here see that comment?

  39. Did anyone here see that comment? ( before election day )

Again, anything said after Election Day would be meaningless.

I’ll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
    Just like yesterday
Then I’ll get on my knees and pray
And I will be fooled again

  40. I said back then Mexico will not Pay for the wall that it was campaign rhetoric.

Did anyone here see that comment?

yeah You did ya maroon because you gave me shit for calling it meaningless campaign promis and all the pin heads didn’t believe it was just rhetoric…..

I woke up in a Soho doorway
    The policeman knew my name
He said, “You can go sleep at home tonight
If you can get up and walk away”
I staggered back to the underground
The breeze blew back my hair
    I remembered throwing punches around
    And preachin’ from my chair

  41. I said back then Mexico will not Pay for the wall that it was campaign rhetoric

It’s my recollection that you initally stated that Mexico would pay for the wall, even going so far to suggest that remittances sent to Mexico from the US could be further taxed if Mexico refused payment, and only went down the ‘campaign rhetoric’ path when it became apparent the Mexico wasn’t going to pay for the wall.

    Is this incorrect?

In any case, ‘campaign rhetoric’ or broken promise bluster, it’s clear that it was a signature campaign promise and that many, many, many people were fooled by it either way.

  42. Even after the election, the local Trump supporters were trying to spin it that a big tax on remittances would be a way for Mexico to pay for it ( which was a complete bullshit argument BTW )

They basically say anything that Rush Limbaugh and that clique tell them to say.

  43. I said IF Mexico was to pay for it we could Tax the remittance money…..

But thank you Paul you do prove we discussed it beforehand unlike others here whose bile has blocked their brain..

  45. thank you two years ago…… and if you look you’ll find the argument even before that… so we did talk about it being nonsense.

Trump is not perfect, but he’s far from bad, and a hell of a lot better than a mobster from Arkansas.

  46. And if you look you’ll find the argument even before that… so we did talk about it being nonsense

Here’s one from the year before:

Contract with The American Voter, by Donald Trump
By Patrick Van Roy On October 22nd, 2016

    https://www.atangledweb.org/?p=65663

Pay particular attention to point 25:

Work with Congress on an End Illegal Immigration ActFully-funds the construction of a wall on our southern border with the full understanding that the country Mexico will be reimbursing the United States for the full cost of such wall

That suggests that if you didn’t believe the pledge then you were complicit in spreading what you knew to be an electoral untruth and breach of the ‘contract?’

  47. Pat is your reading comprehension zero? It says plainly in your own words that you said Mexico would pay for the wall

  48. Other than the tax cut for the wealthy, pulling out of the Paris climate accord and Iran deal, are there any other promises Trump has kept? The three mentioned were easy. It seems many more promises are not kept than a few kept.

  49. He promised to pull out of Trans Pacific Partnership and did so, a huge own-goal that benefits China long term.

  50. That suggests that if you didn’t believe the pledge then you were complicit in spreading what you knew to be an electoral untruth and breach of the ‘contract?’

I didn’t believe any of it, but I spread it because it was campaign season…. that’s what campaigns are about…. Propaganda and Promises.

NYr the tax cut benefitted the middle class more than anyone, they always do. GDP is steadily up over 3% and we have the highest employment since 1968. Those are both a direct result of tax cuts and regulation cuts on oil and gas.

  51. https://budgetandthebeach.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/shareasimage.png

  52. Trump fulfilled the only thing that mattered to me….

    The Beast did not Win.

    Everything else is gravy.

Besides 99.9% of the things any President gets credit or punishment for is not his to control.

The most important Promise and the only one he has almost full control of are appointment of Judges. He made a pledge to the Cruz supporters to keep one promise and one promis alone.

    JUDGES

and he kept his promise and pulled his 2 SC picks from our list and over 60 Federal Judges from our secondary list. If the gods are kind Ginsberg will give up the ghost before December.

  53. take your own advice Phantom.

  54. So you said things that you knew to be untrue in order to convince an audience largely of Europeans to vote for Trump, even though they were not able to do so.

By golly, that’s a good stategery.

  55. “NYr the tax cut benefitted the middle class more than anyone, they always do. GDP is steadily up over 3% and we have the highest employment since 1968. Those are both a direct result of tax cuts and regulation cuts on oil and gas.”

No they aren’t. The US economy was booming when Obama left office. They are a result of the stellar economic performance of the Obama administration which Trump, to his credit, hasn’t tinkered too much with.

  56. excuse me?????

You babble nonsense to the same crowd everyday…… This is where I discus and debate the issues of our times.

What I did to help Trump get elected was work the polls and help run the political machinery in my region. Get out the vote, and the tons of footwork that goes into an election. Something you know nothing about.

I rejoined the party to run the Cruz effort in Lancaster county, then slid over to aid the Trump campaign.

  57. Have you said any other things here that you knew were untrue, for tactical or other reasons?

  58. If Biden is the Dem candidate, PA goes back to the Democrat fold, its natural home

  59. No they aren’t. The US economy was booming when Obama left office. They are a result of the stellar economic performance of the Obama administration which Trump, to his credit, hasn’t tinkered too much with.

are you blogging from the Pub?

The Obama 8yrs were the worst economic years in american history. More people lost their homes, their jobs and were on the dole than any other time in History including the great depression.

  60. Phantom, on April 26th, 2019 at 7:31 PM Said:
If Biden is the Dem candidate, PA goes back to the Democrat fold, its natural home

Yeah because all those Union workers that couldn’t find jobs under Obama and are working now want to go back on unemployment and welfare.

  61. The US economy that Obama inherited from the Republicans was in crisis. It was flat-lining. The people who lost their homes, their jobs etc… did so because of collapse of the US economy under George W Bush. Obama inherited that and fixed it. It was then booming when he left office.

He inherited an economy in severe recession, and turned it around. Do you, in your GOP tinted spectacles, really believe the US was in recession in 2016?

  62. Phantom, on April 26th, 2019 at 7:29 PM Said:
Have you said any other things here that you knew were untrue, for tactical or other reasons?

nothing I said was untrue…. they weren’t my promises.

  63. “Yeah because all those Union workers that couldn’t find jobs under Obama and are working now want to go back on unemployment and welfare.”

When Barack Obama became President the unemployment rate in Pennsylvania was 7%. When Obama left office it was 5.2%.

  64. Patrick

Have you ever been to PA? I doubt it at times. The economic meltdown happened under your watch, largely caused by your policies, and you spend every minute blaming the guy who fixed it.

    https://www.statista.com/statistics/190714/unemployment-rate-in-pennsylvania-since-1992/

  65. Obama inherited a ” falling knife ” economy that was in sharp decline.

Trump inherited an economy that had been going up for years.

Still they whine and wail from sunrise to sunset, stopping only to listen to Rush on the radio.

  66. look at your chart Phantom….

Highest point of unemployment 8.5% When did it hit that number oh yeah 2010…. then the Republicans took control of just about the entire country electoriolly and what happened…

Pa opened Fracking and unemployment dropped steadily and like a brick.

You don’t know your state you certainly don’t know mine.

  67. Obama made the economy worse, extending his depression.

  68. It peaked in 2010 because Obama inherited a terrible economy. Decisions take a delayed effect. So the Republican Congress in 2010 wouldn’t have had the ability to fix things by the time the decline in unemployment started.

For what it is worth some of the credit also goes to the Bush White House who did start to fix the mess in 2008, things like TARP.

The reason things started to decline was because the decisions taken before 2010 had started to take effect.

  69. The economy doesn’t turn on a dime. Hence, the falling knife comment.

Increased production of gas was due to a technology revolution, not due to any change in politicians.

The PA production was dramatically up in Obama time. Obama gets no credit for increased PA production, neither does the current imposter.

    Stop worshipping politicians.

    https://www.eia.gov/dnav/ng/hist/n9050pa2a.htm

  70. Obama’s 8yrs were an economic disaster. He created more debt than every President before him combined while more people went bankrupt than any other period in American history.

    Those are facts.

  71. 8yrs and it never turned.

  72. The American economy was booming when Obama left office. There were dark years in there absolutely. That’s what happened when the Republicans ran the economy into the ground. It took time, energy and pain to fix it. But fix it Obama did.

  73. Phantom….. you link to a graph that shows increase in Pa gas production starting in 2010… exactly when the Republicans took control of the country…. and the Obama administration blocked Pa from fracking on Federal land but Pa most of land is privately owned.

Once again you are wrong, but thanks for the graph that proves me right. 🙂

  74. Patrick

You are the spin doctor of all time.

    Neither has Trump.

  79. How dare you

Trump is the best president ever

He has delivered ” the best economy in American history ” in two years, after everyone was starving under the Obama dictatorship
