IT’S BOGMAGEDDON

By Pete Moore On July 26th, 2019

Pundits: “Ha ha ha. England are rubbish, Ireland bowled them out for 85!”

Ireland: “Hold our beer”

England 86 & 303; Ireland 207 & 38; England win by 143 runs in three days

That’s quite the scorecard. With The Ashes starting next week the good news is that England’s seamers are on top form. The bad news is that there’s nothing else.

In the end I enjoyed seeing Ireland at Lord’s. But only at the end. Facing defeat to Ireland at Lord’s is no laughing matter. James Joyce was a huge cricket fan, the sensible chap.

  1. Mighty effort from the cricketers.

  2. Have to say Reg, for someone from the fine town of Castlewellan I’m mildly unsettled at your obvious deep interest in cricket.

  3. I would say I’m not a fan of cricket but I am a fan of anything Ireland is competing in. For example I became briefly interested in women’s field hockey last year.

  4. Paul,

I don’t have the foggiest notion about cricket, but..

Down are “in transition” (again), the Irish soccer team are rubbish, the golf majors are over, it’s a World Cup year so the rugby team are crap until next year…

…I’m simply bandwagon-jumping. (Sure I was mad into the women’s hockey last year.)

Indeed Pete. I watched a good bit of the match on TV but if that’s the best that England can do the Aussies will be greatly encouraged, and with good reason.
