  4. Although you might prefer the cool jazz swinging cat version Pat:

  5. Dead Kennedy’s are quite good

    shame on you Pete

  6. F*** **** Kennedys For choosing that name

May every member of that band be cursed for 100 generations for choosing that name

  7. Why? I think it’s pretty funny.

  8. I don’t like the Kennedy family but that name as always offended me

That band has the worst karma in the universe

They’re about as funny as this slob

  9. Maybe Some members of their family can get murdered, And we can start a new fun band making mocking reference to their dead relatives

  10. I don’t like the Kennedy family but that name as always offended me

I don’t find it offensive at all. As a matter of fact I think it’s quite witty. There’s also a band called the Dead Presidents. Is that offensive too?

On a similar note, why is it that Americans find the word cunt so offensive?

I remember discussing the McIlduff fiasco here at the time and at the beginning and was very much at the beginning of the opinion that he should be sanctioned for his behaviour. s time passed though I was minded to give him the benefit of the doubt about it being deliberate. He has a history of nonsense tweets with things on his head.

  11. The Doors were only liked by people on drugs. A dull and overrated band.

  12. Long live the Doors

Heard them on the stereo many times when in the military and at college

nonsense….. you guys put up Punk all the time…. now that’s drug music

  14. Clearly I don’t post punk all the time.

Come on, The Doors were dreary. The lyrics were nonsense, mainly penned by an over-indulged boy from a good background who badly needed a kick up the arse. (It would blow the cool image that a lot of Doors fans have of Jim Morrison if they knew his father was a Rear Admiral.) The music ranged from unremarkable at best to complete dross.

    Trust me on this.

  15. True Drug music could be really good

Punk to me was such an unmelodic fake angry skinny white kid from the suburbs wanting to look tough poser complete waste of time. Besides that it was good.

Much less of a deal in the US than it seemed to be in England

With a few friends I visited the famous CBGB once and I said ” great, I’ve been here once, yay, now l never have to come here again “. Whatever they were selling, I wasn’t buying.

  16. Nonsense….. you guys put up Punk all the time…. now that’s drug music

Firstly punk music is anything but drug music and secondly, as Pete states, I don’t post punk all the time either.

I think that punk rock was a different beast in the states than it was in Europe Phantom. Punk in Europe was very much as much a movemnet of social change as itwas a style of music. My own experience of US ‘punk’ is with very few honourable exceptions it was shit and was seen as nothing more than a variously ‘cool’ ‘rad’ rock music.

  17. Fair enough.

I heard of things like bands and crowds spitting on one another, and it didn’t exactly make me want to go to the next show.

  18. all the time is an expression…. you obviously post other things as the Allman post showed….

  19. I heard of things like bands and crowds spitting on one another

It was a phenomena at the beginning of punk in Europe and the bands absolutely hated it, Joe Strummer infamously contracting hepatitis C from the disgusting practice. It died out within 18 months or so.

This meant more to Belfast youth that can ever be explained. A group of our own singing to us about us:

  20. The Doors had some good songs (Peace Frog, Light My Fire, The End), but they have been over mythologized.

  21. cult like….. I always enjoyed their music, but I know people that worship it

  22. Morrison dying young was the best career move he and the Doors ever made.
