THE TORIES ARE SO WEAK

By Pete Moore On November 2nd, 2019

The government has called a halt to shale gas extraction – or fracking – in England amid fears about earthquakes.

The indefinite suspension comes after a report by the Oil and Gas Authority (OGA) said it was not possible to predict the probability or size of tremors caused by the practice.

Business Secretary Andrea Leadsom said it may be temporary – imposed “until and unless” extraction is proved safe.

We get earthquakes every day in the UK. Small tremors, nothing to worry about. They only started making news when men decided to serve society by fracking for the planet’s natural gaseous goodness. The benefits are clear. Cheaper and cleaner energy for all, which the lowest paid will appreciate the most.

But middle class leftists hate that kind of thing. They hate anything good happening, the misanthropic bastards. So they falsely linked fracking to these tiny, imperceptible tremors. You can’t drill a tiny hole in the ground now without the eco-commies pretending that the San Andreas Fault will emerge over here.

So the Tories do what they always do in the face of extreme-left craziness; they capitulate. That’s what Tories always do. This is how leftism inexorably advances, by Tory cowardice. Instead of standing up for what’s right and just, and for what would actually benefit people (a “hate crime” in commie circles now), they fold like a paper straw.

  1. So the Tories do what they always do in the face of extreme-left craziness; they capitulate.

No Pete. Can you not spot this for the cynical pre-election ploy that it is? If Johnson gets a majority next month there will be a very fast reverse ferret and fracking will be back in business. Because the Tories just love fracking and have already invested a lot of political capital in it.

  2. In any case we need to recognnise that fossil fuels and nuclear are past their sell-by date and are being overtaken rapidly by renewables, however much the fossil fuel and nuclear shill hate it. Get over it guys and move on:

“A new wave of offshore wind farms around the UK will generate power more cheaply than burning coal and for the first time will not require any subsidy. The cost of power from offshore wind has plummeted 30 per cent in two years with a raft of 12 new energy projects coming in at a record low price of between £39.65 and £41.61 per megawatt hour, the government revealed on Friday. That is less than half of the £92.50 per megawatt hour that the government has committed to pay for power from the delayed and over-budget Hinkley Point C nuclear plant which is due to open in 2025.”

No, that’s Westminster bubble talk. The idea that the Tories will pick up northern votes by telling northerners that they won’t get a job in the fracking business, and that their energy bills won’t be lowered, is insane.

  4. ahh petem how refreshing so now you hate everyone left and right
what is bloody well left .. you going full on Farage .. is he your man ?

But that’s exactly the calculation they have made Pete. It will be interesting to see how many marginal seats in North West England are influenced by this, but there are also a few in the Tory south.

Anyway, my bet is that fracking will be back in business next year if Johnson wins.

  6. kurt –

At the risk of upsetting your world view, my contempt for the Tories is as high as my hatred of middle class leftists.

    Peter –

If fracking comes back after a Tory election win it will prove (again) that they are too weak and cowardly to stand up to their ideological enemies.

Yes, and also how shamelessly corrupt they are. A lot of “investors” have bet a lot on fracking and there is only one party that can deliver those bets. And they have lobbied that party very heavily and given it lots of dosh.

  8. all is not lost petem, Guido is good aul gammon.

The test fracking sites in Lancashire are only a few miles from where I live. I was actually in bed when for the first time in my life I felt and heard an earthquake and watch the dust fall from my ceiling. you really have no f*cking idea what you’re talking about do you Pete. You really are totally ignorant.

  11. Fracking has caused a dramatic increase in the number of earthquakes in Oklahoma, And it has caused more property damage to buildings than before.

There’s no chance of any similar Property damage in England, right Pete?

  12. Fracking damage to property in England

  13. A cynical attempt at trying to get Middle class LibDem votes. It might get a few, but not enough.

You don’t a problem when fracking causes damages to buildings in England?

These reports are fake news, right?
