Because Friday night is Music Night.

Another week done at the coalface of capitalism. I must be the last person in the country not blowing everything they have at the shops. I pulled into a Waitrose car park tonight for a couple of things. Jeez, you’d think there’s a disaster on the way and everyone’s stocking up. Oh hang on, the polls haven’t put Corbyn ahead have they?Preppers will be laughing at that.

Have yourselves a good weekend then. Mine will be filled with work, Munster vs Saracens and not spending like it’s about to be made illegal. Colin Hay has the kind of rough voice and simple approach which appeals to me. He also does a mean Norwegian Wood (here). So we’ll have a bit of this.

As always, feel free to share your top sounds down below.

  1. Some Skinny Lister tonight.
    I like this lot.

  2. It’s a second album kinda evening for me:

  3. This isn’t music, it’s a documentary about cyberpunk and science fiction.
I think it’s really good, but only myself and possibly Patrick will probably find it interesting.

  4. Pete, Paul and JM. All good music choices. but I particularly like yours JM. So much so I’ve added it to my extensive online music collection.

Here is one from me that you are going to hate. But you can’t beat a bit of Die Atwood. And we definitely don’t have enough rap on ATWs Friday night jukebox.

  5. Not enough rap you say Dave? One for all the Irish Yanks:

Continuing the Irish rap theme, in a much more serious context:

  6. Paul.

It’s not often I say this, but that’s two tracks tonight that have been added to my music library. That Macklemore rap as excellent. Thanks mate.

  7. Likeable chap, Colin Hay, and good tune. Love the Skinny Lister track also (and also added to library! – so much good music so little time).

In return a commie jingle, the Redskins, “bring it down”:

  8. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ngRJq2lNmk
This is what I’ve been listening to every night after I pass the 12th hour at work. It keeps me going for a few more hours. When I’m done, I listen to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEtfgfv5iN4 and every time I read ATW I think of these two songs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=symmEkjFn38 and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujNeHIo7oTE

  9. this is the only rap song I know…… and oh does it fit…….

  10. loved the Marley Mairin

  11. Pat, can I get a blog to you?

  12. That’s away Pat. Put it up at your leisure.

  13. sure….. it’ll take me about 2 hours to get it on the site

  14. Thanx P.

  15. . it’ll take me about 2 hours to get it on the site

Is that the online equivalent of an extreme dose of constipation ? 🙂

  16. Hi mairin, good to see you.

  17. I hope you’re referring to Pat’s bodily functions and not my blog output Colm.

  18. Paul

Yes I realise now that my comment could be interpreted as suggesting your post would end up being like a big heavy turd rather than the sparkling diamonds they always are 😉

  19. paul hi, there’s a queue mate 😉

  20. Back on topic.

It’s Pete Shelley’s first anniversary today:

I still have a lump in my throat.

  21. bah paul you’re higher up in the pecking order
lol my average wait is 2 days

  22. Apologies mucker.

  23. Listen to Bob every day, Patrick. Need to get back to Jamaica soon. Visiting Nine Mile is always fun (even tho I don’t smoke and never have)!
Hey Pete, I hope you’re well. I see you’re keeping the fires burning here.
Paul, just thought of something…why did unionists used to say: “keep her lit”? Was it in reference to the 12th bonfires?

  24. It’s a Northern colloquialism mairin, akin to ‘take care’.

I don’t know the origins of the phrase but it certainly isn’t exclusively used by unionists. From empirical observation it tends to be used more in rural areas.

  25. I love setting my browser to auto play the ATW Friday night jukebox while I’m doing my Sunday lunch.

mairin2. Nice little collection there mate, I enjoyed that.

Patrick. Good choice of rap there. I used to listen to that one while I was playing grand theft auto.

Paul. I always enjoy the buzzcocks.
