THE STATE OF’EM

By Pete Moore On February 13th, 2020

“Scuffles broke out outside a courthouse in Londonderry as a man appeared inside charged with the murder of journalist Lyra McKee.

Paul McIntyre, 52, from Derry (sic) has been charged with murder, possession of a firearm and membership of a proscribed organisation, the IRA.”

He looks as you’d expect, a puff faced slob. He wasn’t the worst thing on display in Londonderry. Anyone with a brain cell would sit it out and let the legal wheels turn. But brain cells are in short supply in that part of Northern Ireland of course . He has supporters. Imagine turning up to demonstrate in this bum’s support. What a crap show.

  1. Regardless of his guilt, he looks like a knob.

“But brain cells are in short supply in that part of Northern Ireland of course”

Quite the opposite. Derry, Ireland’s fourth city (and the county that bears its name) is a cultural hub.

Seamus Heaney (Nobel Laureate poet), Seamus Deane (novelist), John Hume (Nobel Laureate peacemaker), the Undertones (music icons), Joe Brolly (Irish wit and critic second only to Wilde himself) to name but a few…all hail from this fine place.

  2. Whoever did this should be sent up the river for a long, long time.

  3. A cut throat band of perpetual malcontents, opportunists and Johnny come lately missed the boatists.

Ye man in the doc is the same age as me. Jesus, he should be old and ugly enough to know that (allegedly) picking up spent round casings is a young man’s game.

Staideeum is right, yer man wouldn’t look out of place at an EDL demo.

  4. So I looked back at some reports of these riots what I can’t find is what started them. Can someone clarify please.

  5. Like yourself Pat I’d imagine that no one from ATW was there and would be going on those same reports.

  6. so there was no foundational incident… ?

Just a saturday night lets go throw molotov cocktails at the cops…… usually things like this are triggered by something…. no not in NI they just they just don masks throw firebombs and shoot at the cops… a truly civilized town of culture Londonderry all those Lauriettes should be proud.

  7. No I don’t think that’s what it was at all. I suspect there was some incident that started the riot but don’t know. I wasn’t there and am just like you relying on reports so can’t suggest nor confirm anything.

    This came to mind:

  8. Derry is a great place. Only there once but I really enjoyed it. Also the setting for the very funny Derry Girls.

  9. Agreed on all points Mahons. Superb, lively place with magnificent people.

  10. Concur.

    I visited as well.

Nice people, good pubs, the good and bad recent and old history was of interest.

I would go back to Derry.

Acting on a tip-off, the police went into a part of Derry that is a Real IRA stronghold to search for arms. An orchestrated riot started almost immediately and ended with shots being fired at the police. Lyra McKee was standing beside a police landrover and was fatally hit.

The alleged perp today was allegedly filmed allegedly picking up the alleged bullet casings. If so, he will allegedly be well aware of the alleged shooter’s alleged identity as are many alleged others. But omerta will will prevail as always. The alleged shooter will never face justice, be sure of that.

MR, Phil Coulter and Dana may not be everyone’s taste, but surely the indomitable Eamonn McCann deserves a mention.

  13. Ah, the boul Phil. My cousin knows him. Wouldn’t be a big fan of Rosemary or Eamonn.

Honorable mentions to the great journslist and raconteur, Nell McCafferty, and the best LoI player I ever saw, Liam Coyle (and by that stage he only had one working knee).

So they were set up to be ambushed by a phoney call and were greated with molotov cocktails and gunfire…..

Ireland is truly the Somalia of the Western World. You should all be ashamed of how you are, an embarrassment.

  15. Sure they are

  16. Ireland is truly the Somalia of the Western World. You should all be ashamed of how you are, an embarrassment.

    Oh, the irony?

Ireland is to become more like Mogadishu than they thought possible.

  17. So someone had guns. The police came to confiscate those guns. So the people who had the guns shot at the police. Is that not what you support Patrick?

  18. Derry / NI / the island of Ireland would have a sharply lower homicide / murder rate than Pennsylvania / USA, and this would likely be true at any point in time over the past 50 years

So if Ireland is Somalia, then Pennsylvania is much worse than Somalia.

  19. Lol Seamus that was a good one .
Yeah pat you support they never take our guns .
    Squewered on the kebab 😂

  20. https://www.nationmaster.com/country-info/compare/Ireland/United-States/Crime

USA vs Ireland ( ROI )

US ten times higher firearms death rate
    US three times more rapes
US ten times more violent crime
US five times more intentional homicide

    Somalia from coast to coast

    Congratulations

  21. Phantom

    USA VsIreland

The USA is also 140 times larger than Ireland.

  22. I am talking about crime rate

I always speak of rate, gross numbers would be meaningless.

First Seamus…. no that is not what I advocate….. it may very well be the result if it’s ever attempted, but it is not what I advocate.

No Phantom try NYC is just like NI and Somalia…… where police are ambushed by animals.

Look to all of you I will explain this once again.

There are a large group of the Irish that are no better than Islamic Fanatics.

You kill for politics, you teach your children murder and bombings are a justified response to political conditions you don’t like, so you kill and mame and praise the violent actors as heroes.

I thank God my family left Ireland in the 1800s and I am embarresed by the behavior of those still there that act that way or praise it.

Seriously you people praise all the Louriettes from there but in reality your behavior is the same as an uneducated Middle Easterner. They have never evolved, but the Irish the support, defend, or excuse behavior like this have devolved and are an embarrassment.

  24. Irish people used violence to try and free their country. American people used violence because they didn’t want to pay tax. Which is political violence?

  25. No Phantom try NYC is just like NI and Somalia…… where police are ambushed by animals.

What are the demographics of those animals where police are ambushed in NYC and Somalia?

  26. no the Irish people didn’t a pack of animals donned masked planted bombs and murdered woman and children.

In the Colonies in America they declared their independence and signed their names to it.

The fact that you are unable to discern the difference is proof of your devolution.

  27. The US colonists didn’t seem to have all that much to complain about.

  28. No the Irish people didn’t a pack of animals donned masked planted bombs and murdered woman and children

That’s truly unfair Pat, they killed shitloads of soldiers & cops as well.

  29. “Seriously you people praise all the Louriettes from there”

I shall continue to praise our lorry-ats. We are truly a nation of saints and scholars…

But not a nation who knew how to grow potatoes..apparently.

    That took an an Englishman.

  31. The beloved humble potato was first domesticated in Peru and Bolivia maybe 7000 years ago.

The English and Irish weren’t involved in that.

    Long live the potato.

  32. Sir Walter Raleigh.

    Ireland.

  33. Harri has a brain like a potato…. without the substance 😉
