WHY WAS NEW YORK HIT SO HARD?

By Pete Moore On March 26th, 2020

Bill de Blasio told people to “get on with your lives and get out on the town despite Coronavirus”.

Democrat council member Mark D. Levine told people to get out and enjoy the Chinese new year “despite Coronavirus fearmongering”.

New York’s Health Commissioner now wants people to stay at home. She’s changed her tune. She was peddling the same claptrap as her compadres not so long ago. They have such a cheek on the left. Every day they bang on about Trump, expecting him to equip every ward in the country. But New York City is setting up makeshift morgues, because these incompetents are running the show. Like the Chinese, they must never be allowed to forget what they did –

I do believe Sweden have taken more or less the same stance.

    And how are they doing?

  2. Damning.

But will note that the US president was saying the same thing at that time

  3. And, Phantom, you have said plenty about your President. Maybe you would comment further on these people closer to home?

Both thos tweets come from early last month. Boris was advocating the same thing much more recently.

As for the guy in question:

  5. “Ah but but but ..”

  6. I said damning.

Have you said that about your Trump

  7. I think I see the possible problem here.

It is noted that any anti EU thoughts, posts, or bile, has temporarily been put on hold.

But in America, the anti Trump thoughts, posts, or bile, are still as strong as ever.

In America, there appears to be two battles going on at the same time.

It’s difficult to work out which is more contagious, Coronavirus or Trump Derangement Syndrome?

    You should be thoroughly ashamed.

  8. Yes Harri.

The Right has acted with complete propriety while the Left has politicised and weaponised this Chinese-made crises. Well enough of that.

  9. Ah but but but

Yep, fake news is easily rebutted.

  10. Yes let’s condemn local officials for saying the same thing that Trump, Pence, and Ben Carson were saying then., and later than then.

But don’t criticize Trump for that.

  11. Quite agree, Pete. It’s time to name and shame those fools who played down the seriousness of coronavirus.

Like the blogger who posted an article headlined CORONAVIRUS – IS IT ALL THAT? the day before the tweet from Commissioner Barbot which you are so keen to condemn.

Unfortunate, isn’t it, that the blogger in question was, er… you.

  12. I’m sure coronavirus is a nasty old thing to have, but are we getting things out of proportion?

    Delicious

They forget what they said five minutes ago

  13. Whoops!

  14. See.

The Chinese virus, that started in China by the Chinese, is not the problem..

    Trump is.

    Hang your heads in shame.

  15. The Chinese virus which started in China is the root of the problem Harri. Nero fiddling while Rome burns and then attempting to criticise others for allegedly doing the same is also a problem.

  16. harri

I share your criticism of Pete for being inconsistent here

  17. Phantom.

How many posts have you posted on ATW criticising the Chinese virus, which started in China, by the Chinese, Vs the amount of posts you have made criticising Trump? Since the Chinese virus outbreak?

    Precisely.

    Case closed.

  18. I have condemned the Chinese government on this.

You and your Pete have not criticized Pete’s president for repeatedly underplaying the seriousness of this – which as of yesterday Pete’s president was still doing by proposing to reopen the country in a short time, against all medical advice

  19. Phantom, on March 26th, 2020 at 8:18 PM Said:

    Maybe once at a guess.

    Condemning Trump.

It must simply run into the thousands now?

    Coronavirus effects the respiratory system.

Trump derangement syndrome effects the Brain.

There is no care in the community after all.

The lunatics really are running the asylum.

Or at least, they think they are.

  20. Pete was at the time vacillating between panic and playing down the virus. I presumed at the time that the post in question was just part of Pete’s internal monologue trying to come to terms with the danger.

  21. I have made original posts praising Trump on China.

harri, please pay attention at least some of the time if you would

Pete can’t bring himself to criticize this guy

  22. Phantom.

Maybe reality is simply y escaping you?

    “Pete,s President”

Trump is not Pete,s President, Pete is British. You are an American living in New York, America, Trump is your President.

    Correct?

The TDS is strong in this one.

  24. easy easy easy, this is upon us, what the frigging heck we gonna do

stop this blame game, people are dying, USA is going to lose MILLIONS

whatever the mistakes, by whichever side the present needs the FULL attention

Long, white, rectangular-shaped trucks are parked outside of Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan and Elmhurst Hospital in Queens. The trucks are refrigerated morgues, last used after the 9/11 attacks. Now they are ready for the pandemic, providing a place for bodies if the city morgues fill up.

There are more than 21,000 cases of the virus in the city and, as New York state governor Andrew Cuomo said on Thursday, the number of those in hospitals increased by 40% in the past 24 hours.

In addition to deploying the trucks, New York officials are turning to the federal government for help.

The New York officials, as well as those from North Carolina and Hawaii, have asked Federal Emergency Management Agency (Fema) for “emergency mortuary assistance”, according to Politico.

  25. harri, please pay attention at least some of the time if you would

    Oh dear.

It’s not like poor Phantom has used that old boring cliche before..

Harri just sighs deeply, rolls his eyes, and feels pity for poor, poor Phantom..

It’s all so terribly, terribly sad..

  26. //Harri just sighs deeply, rolls his eyes, and feels pity for poor, poor Phantom..//

Harri, give us a break for god’s sake.

  27. Noel

I wish poor Phantom would give us a break from TDS.

    😏

  28. Who is this Trump?

  29. Phantom.

I will hold you to that.

Give it a break for Gods sake.

    It’s not healthy.

    Who is this Trump?

Ooh err, Phantom is trying his hand at humour.

    Ooh, me ribs.

  31. Phantom.

    It’s quite simple.

If you show humility, civility, and none of your usual arrogance

You get humility and civility in return.

  32. It’s an apocalypse……

    https://eu.usatoday.com/story/news/health/2020/03/25/coronavirus-usa-death-count-dead-1000/5079442002/

The death toll in the United States topped 1,000 on Wednesday night as the novel coronavirus continues to spread across the country.
America’s first death was reported on Feb. 29 and the rate has spiked over the past two weeks as extreme public health measures go into effect to combat the virus. The U.S. death count eclipsed 600 on Tuesday and 900 early Wednesday before reaching 1,050 early Thursday, according to the Johns Hopkins University data dashboard..

OK – but how’s the flu doing, the ordinary, seasonal flu that we get every year, some worse than others?

    https://www.cdc.gov/flu/weekly/index.htm

CDC estimates that so far this season there have been at least 38 million flu illnesses, 390,000 hospitalizations and 23,000 deaths from flu.

    GET A FUCKING GRIPPE!!!

  33. The US now has the highest number of confirmed cases in the world, more than China and Italy. This is awful.

  34. This is the first inning, Allan.

    You’re not concerned, epidemiologists are.

  35. Let the virus run its path because it’s not serious and its mortality rate is being grossly overstated as is seen below:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=16&v=ohO8eAwi_po&feature=emb_logo

  36. WHO numbers for Corona fatality are 3.4% versus 0.1% for seasonal flu.

However, the COV mortality rate was calculated using deaths/confirmed cases (3.4%) whereas the flu mortality rate was calculated using deaths/estimated cases (0.1%). Obviously the ‘estimated cases’ is far greater than confirmed cases. When deaths/confirmed cases is used for flu, the mortality figure is 10% and these are from WHO figures

  37. I only listen to the Governor of NY, Andrew Cuomo, and the Director of the CDC, Dr. Fauci. De Blasio and his team are inferior to NY State and one should not pay too much attention to them other than on subjects such as parking, garbage collection, snow removal and the like.

A mayor like De Blasio has very little power compared to the president. De Blasio could not command companies to make more test kits or ventilators but Trump could and failed to do so. Not getting sufficient testing done early will probably turn out to be the major failure of an unimpressive response to the pandemic.
