  1. don’t put this up , unless you count john mccain in the celebration
    do you ? yes/no ?

  2. Kurt/Percy/David

John McCain Served his country as a Soldier, and I salute him for that. Even though he failed miserably.

I Condemn him for profiting off of it and becoming a traitorous scumbag as a Politician.

  3. Even though he failed miserably.

how dare you say that of a vet, who was captured and put in a hell-hole for 5 years
you don’t know what you’d have done or been able to if you were part of his crew

the rest is your opinion ,like assholes we all got them

  4. Some veterans talk of their experience

  5. American War Crimes…… really Noel ?

You know I take comments like that personal, but you’re not worth it.

  6. The Pentagon’s own War Crimes Working Group investigation found over 300 war crime allegations against US troops in Vietnam had a factual basis.

  7. yeah oh ok Seamus…. oh my they found 300 war crimes.

You know all I read is two idiots who support TERRORISTS that murdered civilians trying to act like they have any moral standing to pass judgement on soldiers.

    you’re both laughable.

  8. In Vietnam your boys were the terrorists. During the Troubles the IRA killed 597 civilians. Of those 597 the majority were not targeted (313). Of the remainder 30 were targeted because of their political role (politicians, judges etc…), 19 were allegedly criminals, primarily drug dealers, and 59 were informers or alleged informers.

That leaves 176 targeted civilians killed because they were civilians.

By comparison the US Army, your terrorists, killed between 347 and 504 people at My Lai alone.

    You don’t get to lecture.

  9. Come on Patrick, you posted a glowing tribute to the Vietnam veterans, do you honestly expect no one to point out the ugly behaviour which was undoubtedly a part of the American experience there.

  10. Behave..

We are in the middle of a crisis.

Or I’ll burn all your huts down..

    😏

  11. Vietnam Veteran’s day is a day for Vietnam veterans to speak and for the rest of us to listen.

Despite the grim subject, this veteran is very entertaining to listen to and is objective, simply an intelligent patriot with a lot to say. He’s worth 15 mins of anyone’s time.
(or, as Patrick, would say: anyone who’s interested in the Vietnam war’s time)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tixOyiR8B-8

“The common perception, the notion that I had in High School, was that the Vietcong terrorised the Vietnamese population and forced them to fight against the Americans on pain of death.
What I began to understand when in Vietnam was that they didn’t need to do things like that – all they had to do was let a marine patrol go through a village, and then whatever was left of that village would be all the recruits they needed. I began to understand why the Vietnamese didn’t greet me with open arms, why they in fact hated me.
But, of course, that didn’t change the fact that my friends were getting killed and injured every day, and the only place you could focus your own anger and fear was on those civilians living there.
So it was this self-perpetuating mechanism: the longer that we stayed in Vietnam, the more Vietcong there were. Because we created, we produced them.”

Eerily similar to Belfast in the early 1970s.

  12. You know I take comments like that personal

    Why?

As said before, if John McCain ‘failed miserably’ as a soldier by getting captured then surely the ultimate failure as a soldier is getting killed?

    Superb analogy, Noel.

  13. Behave..

We are in the middle of a crisis.

Or I’ll burn all your huts down..

Easily your best ever post, Harri.

    That made me lol.

  14. The CCR song Fortunate Son is a protest song, whether that escaped the notice of the post’s author is unclear. There were certainly atrocities committed by our forces during that horrific war (there are almost always atrocities committed during wars). A rather balanced view is the doc by Ken Burns.

  15. Agent orange?

  16. “Vietnam Veterans Day”

I’m surprised there isn’t commemorative Zippo on offer.

  17. Agent Orange? He didn’t go, he claimed bone spurs.

  18. Very good Mahons..

    😀

  19. An unnecessary war that resulted in a lot of meaningless deaths.
It has got the best soundtrack of all the wars though.

  20. No Mahons it did not escape me, it was also a favorite of those who served then.

    “The Duality of Man”

Now my question to you is did you play Sgt MacKenzie ?

The video explains who he was and I thought people would find the story behind the song interesting especially our over seas friends.

  21. It has got the best soundtrack of all the wars though.

    Interesting trivia.

This is often attributed as an anti Vietnam war song Dave but it was actually written about the LA Sunset Strip curfew:

  22. now that has always been one of my Favorites Paul.

It’s also a great trivia song…… no one ever knows it’s title.

  23. do you know where I stole the quote the duality of man…..

  24. A Brooklyn man claiming to be infected with the coronavirus coughed on FBI agents who were investigating him for hoarding medical supplies, the US Attorney’s Office said Monday.

Baruch Feldheim, 43, is facing charges of assault and making false statements to the feds on Sunday outside his Borough Park home where he allegedly peddled and stored massive amounts of N95 respirator masks, federal officials said.

Feldheim is also accused of price-gouging. On March 18, he’s suspected of selling a New Jersey doctor about 1,000 of the masks for $12,000, a markup of roughly 700 percent, authorities said.

The accused fraudster also directed another doctor to an Irvington, NJ, auto repair shop to pick up another order. There, the doctor reported to investigators that Feldheim was allegedly hoarding enough medical supplies “to outfit an entire hospital.”

Perhaps I should revisit my thoughts on the death penalty

  25. Do you know where I stole the quote the duality of man…..

    Yes, I think so.

  27. Oops wrong thread

  28. That’s true about that Buffalo Springfield song Patrick. I never knew it’s title or the group but always knew that song.

  29. 😉

  30. Nice track Paul.

I always thought that was an anti-Vietnam war song.

  31. Great song by Buffalo Springfield.

  32. Bomb the bastards….
