It cracks me up

By Patrick Van Roy On June 4th, 2020

I start my day with a pot of coffee and the Press. I scan a couple of dozen publications and pick out what catches my eye to read. If you check my twitter feed you can what I’ve read that morning before I start my day by the first 10 articles I’ve tweeted.

One of the advantages of this is not just the stories I spend the time to read, but viewing that many publications across the spectrum I get a feel for the general spin of the day. There is a pattern that has amplified over the past 3 months, it’s been there for the past 4 years, but has intensified greatly over the past 3mths.

The left and the Democrats some how have the distinct impression that they are winning the battle for hearts and minds. It cracks me up.

The past 3 months have been a living hell for most Americans. They locked us in our homes, took away our ability to earn, took away our ability to visit family, to go to church, even go to the Park or Beach. They’ve arrested people for walking with their children, couples sitting together on a park bench, and even for going to church. All while allowing Animals out of Jail because they may catch a cold.

Then these same Officials have allowed 10s of thousands of Animals to burn and pillage for an entire week.

Yet if you scan the headlines the Majority of the press blame Trump. You also see a constant flow of headlines about his losing pol numbers, who in his own administration think he’s wrong, and a 100 other little tidbits of how horrible everything is and how it’s all Trumps fault.

It’s a nice narrative, but that’s all it is a narrative. There is no meat in it.

The majority of Americans A) Want to get back to work, B) Don’t blame Trump for the Lockdown, and C) Blame the Democrats for the Riots. Yet the Democrats and the Press think they are winning.

I make no predictions about the coming election, I just can’t wait though till the day after. I got a feeling the results are going to be Interesting.

May you live in Interesting Times.

    Because you’re a workshy layabout.

    Get a job.

  3. “The majority of Americans A) Want to get back to work, B) Don’t blame Trump for the Lockdown, and C) Blame the Democrats for the Riots. Yet the Democrats and the Press think they are winning.”

Pretty much only true if you replace the term “Americans” with the term “Republicans”. Most polls show that the Covid-19 response from the public is splitting heavily on party grounds, with Republicans being more anti-lockdown, and blaming the Democrats, and Democrats being more pro-lockdown, and blaming Trump and the Republicans.

  4. Get a job……. would if I could

  5. and if you’re going by the “Polls” Hillary is the President.

The Unions are screaming to work and the Unions are ALL Democrat.

  6. The majority of Americans A) Want to get back to work, B) Don’t blame Trump for the Lockdown, and C) Blame the Democrats for the Riots. Yet the Democrats and the Press think they are winning [….]

and if you’re going by the “Polls” Hillary is the President

So what are you basing your claims of what the ‘majority of Americans’ want and how do you quantify it if you don’t trust polls.

    Because you’re a workshy layabout.

    Get a job.

I know your situation Pat and I’m symathetic to it but that did make me chuckle.

  7. “and if you’re going by the “Polls” Hillary is the President.”

The polls said Hillary Clinton would win the popular vote. And the polls are right.

  8. The Polls said she we beat him in a Landslide, and she we would win….

Can you link me to the one that said she’d win the vote, but lose the election.

  9. I’m basing my view of the attitude in the country that I see first hand, there is nothing scientific about it, but then again neither is there anything scientific about the polls.

  10. “Can you link me to the one that said she’d win the vote, but lose the election.”

No because that isn’t how polls work. They track popular opinion, not how that popular opinion translates in an arcane system.

” The Polls said she we beat him in a Landslide, and she we would win….”

No they didn’t. The polls predicted the election result within the margin of error.

  11. “I’m basing my view of the attitude in the country that I see first hand, there is nothing scientific about it, but then again neither is there anything scientific about the polls.”

Polls have proven to be generally quite accurate.

  12. The polls were done state by state also, and those were generally correct.

The pollsters were not far wrong on anything the last time. They were spot on for the national vote.

It is not an exact science.
