  1. Good

    I missed this yesterday

  2. Its just his normal stream of unconscious lying and made up facts

  3. I’m great, the buck stops here but it’s not my fault, tests, never mind about cases, if they don’t open the schools we won’t fund them, fake media blah, blah, blah

And that was only in the twelve minutes before I switched it off.

  4. He’s a jabbering idiot.

I am surprised that they let him anywhere near a real journalist like Chris Wallace.

Next time, put him in the batters box against a softball chucker like Sean Hannity or Laura Ingraham.

  5. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised at the doggedness and bedside manner of this FOX journalist, not your normal slavish FOX guy.

  6. Wallace is an actual journalist, not a sycophant. But is almost pointless to interview Trump at this stage. We know he’ll lie, we know his supporters don’t mind if he does.

  7. Wallace’s dad, Mike Wallace was a prominent TV journalist known for asking tough questions.

Chris Wallace has a softer style, but he does all of his homework and will not let a false claim go unchallenged.

  8. I was pretty impressed at him. No so much with the other guy.

  9. Great interview, loved the bit about the test
circle the elephant, what is 100-7 ,gimme a break

but if only things were just silly like this

    reality is much more serious

Trump consults Bush torture lawyer on how to skirt law and rule by decree

“This is how it begins,” Laurence Tribe, a Harvard constitutional law professor, wrote on Twitter. “The dictatorial hunger for power is insatiable. If ever there was a time for peaceful civil disobedience, that time is upon us.”

    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/jul/20/trump-john-yoo-lawyer-torture-waterboarding

  10. Paul,

you made it longer than I did. Wallace notes, however, that Trump answered all of his tough questions. You may not like his answers, but he answered every question put to him. Biden has not had the same scrutiny, answered the same tough questions, Wallace said.

  11. I would welcome some tough questions about Biden’s no good son

  12. You may not like his answers, but he answered every question put to him

Charles, Wallace asked him a question on the surge of cases and he went off on a tanget about testing. He asked him a question about did he have any responsibility for not having a national approach to the virus and he responded by saying it was his job to keep things together while saying some State Governors did better than others.

He also cried about being victimised.

    Classic non answer answers.

Not being POTUS what scruntiny should Biden face?

    What scrutiny should Biden face?

  13. Not being POTUS what scrutiny should Biden face?

are you being serious? He’s running for the job.

  14. Chris Wallace conducted an interview with someone who lies continually and is confrontational and Wallace deserves credit for doing so. Trump was sweating and his weight problem was obvious, he could not sit up straight because of his beach-ball sized rump. Trump said he did more in three and a half years than any president in history. A laughable claim. When asked if he would accept the results of the election, he said he would have to see. A troubling statement which might portend confrontation ahead.

Overall, Trump did himself harm because he tries to force what are obvious lies on the viewers, his physical appearance was ungainly, his manner obnoxious, his grasp of facts non-existent and the impression he leaves is of a surly egomaniac desperate to lie his way out of the awful condition he has put the country in. Very few will believe his self-exoneration and look forward to the day he leaves office in January.

  15. I wrote on another thread that some would see this interview as a triumph. I knew Charles would be honest about it, but are we to take from PaTroll’s lack of comment on it, that I was wrong, and even he found it to be embarrassing, cringeworthy and full of bullshit, lies and egotistical insecurities?

  16. Are you being serious? He’s running for the job

Trump was questioned on his POTUS performance. What questions would you have Biden answer to hold him up to the same scruntiny?

  17. How about ” what’s your plan ”

” Why should you get the job “

  18. How about them?

I’d be surprised if he didn’t pull out a load of Dem policies as most politicos would do. If he hasn’t been asked these questions a hundred times by now then your press needs a serious talking to.

  19. I would ask him about his vice presidential performance. Why did he make the decisions he did. How did he peddle his influence to get his son Hunter the job with Burisma (he brags about it on tape BTW). What does he intend to do his first 100 days as POTUS, etc.

  20. From what I can see Biden does seem to be hiding from any semblence of a campaign or journalistic scrutiny. Its a fair criticism to make. Trump for all his bombastic fake awfulness does at least put himself out there.

  21. Paul, our press needs a serious talking to. Biden has rarely been seen or heard from in months. One presser maybe. No interviews that I have seen. He is highly controlled by his people.

  22. Is he still alive ? 🙂

  23. Biden shying away from campaigning is absolutely fair criticism and as I said to Phantom, if he hasn’t been asked those questions 100 times then the US press need a good speaking to.

Trump puts himself out there and then spends his time insulting journos he doesn’t like.

Charles, I think your first question’s pretty weak. I’m unaware that Biden peddled his influence to get his sin the job, (although it’s pretty certain he got it because who his father was), and think that your third question is absolutely legitimate.

  24. Charles, if that’s the case then the press should be hounding his people for access and writing op eds if denied.

  25. Biden peddled his influence to get his sin the job

Paul, are you saying the child was born out of wedlock ? 🙂

  26. I think Charles’ staunch, unshakeable Catholicism is beginning to rub off on me.

  27. I agree with that Paul, but it’s glaringly obvious that the press is in the tank for Biden.

  28. beginning to rub off on me.

Are you trying to tempt me into making one of my rare smutty comments 🙂

  29. Paul, it’s my quiet strength in the Lord that you are drawn to! 🙂

  30. It’s glaringly obvious that the press is in the tank for Biden

I feel that to be a pre emptive Trumpesque excuse Charles.

It’s my quiet strength in the Lord that you are drawn to!

I stopped being drawn himself when I was about 12 or 13 Charles.

Are you trying to tempt me into making one of my rare smutty comments

No. I’m just aware that you often like to take things in hand.

  31. Charles, we know you are a Trump supporter but he’s not the Messiah you know 😉

  32. Yes Colm, but if Trump walked on water, our press would report that he couldn’t swim!

  33. Charles. I think that’s a bit unfair. I mean can you name one President since Obama who has had a better media reception than Trump ? 😉

  34. Trump was sweating and his weight problem was obvious, he could not sit up straight because of his beach-ball sized rump.

    That’ll do me NY’er hahaha

  35. Make Asses GREAT again 😉

  36. Smart presidents ( think JFK ) try to cultivate good relations with the press

Trump has never tried to do that, with the exception of publicists like Hannity etc

    A billion unnecessary fights

  37. //Trump answered all of his tough questions. You may not like his answers, but he answered every question put to him.//

    From 1:38

Wallace: “But, sir, we have the 7th highest mortality rate (from Covid) in the world”

Trump: “I think it’s the opposite: we have one of the lowest mortality rates in the world. (Looking at a chart on a different question). That’s fake news. You said we have the worst mortality rate in the world, but we have the best.”

Charles, do you seriously think that’s answering the questions?

  38. charles i think they faked your IQ 😉
did you do this test , the elephant test and 100-7 = ?

  39. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jumbo#/media/File:Jumbo_poster_1.jpg

  40. I think Bidens strategy is obvious

Last time turnip bullshitted his way into the presidency and this time Biden is leaving him enough room to bullshit his way out of it

  41. //Trump answered all of his tough questions. You may not like his answers, but he answered every question put to him.//

Charles, do you think telling a lie in response to a question is answering that question?

  42. Noel, I would have to know a specific question and how he answered it for a proper response. In general though, I would want the President to be as truthful as possible.

  43. Kurt, frankly, I didn’t watch that much of the interview. I can’t. It’s like watch a slow motion car wreck. 🙂

  44. when I said he answered all the tough questions, I was quoting Mr. Wallace.

  45. Near the start of the interview, Trump, in response to Coronavirus questions, starts talking about other countries. When he mentions mexico, he says it’s a good thing he has most of the wall built, or else things could be a lot worse. How much of the wall has been built? It was my understanding that hardly any had been built. Was trump lying, or am I incorrect?

BTW, that’s not directed solely at you, Charles. It’s a question for anyone who might have an answer.

  46. Seimi, I’m not sure. I know it’s not complete. It’s not a lie, more of an exaggeration, IMO.

  47. I believe that no new significant wall has been built by the government.

Some existing wall was fixed up

  48. Yes Seimi. I found that an incredible claim.

AFAIK sporadic stretches of metal fencing and railings have bben built. If this is building ‘most of the wall’ it’s a measuring system I’m not familiar with.

  49. “And all I can say is, thank God I built most of the wall, because if I didn’t have the wall up, we would have a much bigger problem.”

That doesn’t sound like exaggeration to me, Charles.

  50. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/border-wall-progress-whats-been-built-so-far

    Depends on your source

One of President Trump’s central 2016 campaign promises was to build a wall at the southern border. That effort is now well underway, with his administration aiming to have completed 450 miles by the end of 2020.

  51. I’m sorry, but this is an absolute disaster of an interview, with someone who should not be in charge of a shopping trolley, let alone a country.

  52. Look the wall has been totally completed. It’s a hundred times longer than the Great Wall of China and taller than my great Tower in New York . It stretches From the Pacific Ocean in California right across to the Gulf of Mexico in Texas,. And back again. it’s MASSIVE and so solid not even the Coronavirus ( which will soon disappear and is a Democrat hoax anyway) can get through it. It’s only the fake news Dem media that can’t see it. I’m President Trump and I never exaggerate !

  53. Like the Prince Andrew interview?

  54. Biden is running a smart campaign (shockingly). He is letting Trump hang himself daily. Also there isn’t a viseral opposition to Biden that there was against Hillary.

  55. But don’t think it is impossible for Biden to still mess it up.

  56. Colm

we’re all getting a bit tired of hearing about your ‘great tower.’

    it’s MASSIVE

    No it isn’t 🙂

    Like the Prince Andrew interview?

    ?

Do you mean this interview is as big a disaster as Andrew’s? Yes, I would say it’s getting there, but I don’t understand why you phrased that as a question?

  57. Prince Andrew is innocent. Royals don’t do naughty stuff 😇

  58. Here is is:

    https://edition.cnn.com/interactive/2018/12/politics/border-wall-cnnphotos/#:~:text=The%20United%20States%E2%80%99%20southern%20border%20with%20Mexico%20is,700%20of%20those%20miles%20have%20fencing%20in%20place.

    Haphazard to say the least.

  59. There is no guarantee that Biden will win anything.

  60. Seimi

My Tower is so big Trump offered to buy it and paint it gold 😱

  61. Napoleon supposedly said ” “Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.”

That might be what Biden or his handlers are thinking.

Donald is making unforced errors everywhere you look, as the election is now in sight.

  62. Colm

It only looks big in Trump’s tiny little hands 🙂

  63. But at some stage, Biden will have to hit the campaign trail, either physically or virtually. Trump is already doing that. Biden should not make the same mistake as Clinton last time out, and take certain places for granted. Trump didn’t.

  64. Seimi

Biden should give a number of quiet serious interviews calmly spelling out his serious alternative to flash bang Donald. He shouldn’t try and out MAGA him, that won’t work. He needs to try and be a calm alternative to the noisy bombastic current office holder

PS as to your 11:40 comment… Trump should be so lucky 😉

  65. Biden’s next big hurdle is who he picks for his running mate, the person who will if Biden is elected more than likely becomes President someday. It could make or break his chances!

  66. Remember McCain picking Palin. Disaster.

  67. He should pick Kim Kardashian. She is female, she is sort of not too white, it would ‘Trump’ Kanye’s Presidential bid and looking at Kim’s curvy bits would keep sleepy Joe awake in the Oval office 😉

  68. Biden’s next big hurdle is who he picks for his running mate

Could the USers here elaborate on that a bit please? Who are his potentials and what are the potential outcomes of choosing each?

  69. Joe has boxed himself in a corner by promising to pick a black woman. Why I don’t know. I thought he had the black vote in his back pocket.

  70. Colm

A series of interviews like that would definitely be good, but I don’t think it would be enough. Trump is all-singing, all-dancing: fireworks and bombastic buzzwords. It’ll take more than a few quiet interviews, probably with ‘soft’ interviewers, to out-do that. I agree that trying to out-MAGA him is pointless, but that is actually the message he should be putting out there: after 4 years of Trump, let’s MAGA!

Re a running mate: does Trump have to run with Pence again, or can he pick someone new? I doubt if he will, as Pence has shown the kind of dogged devotion to Trump that would equal Harri’s to Allan/Pete. But can a president change VP in the second term? Has it happened before?

    Charles

I’m not that much of an expert on American politics, but I do know that Biden said he would choose a female VP, and based on what I’ve read here (and this is the only place I’ve looked!), his choices are A) limited and B) bad. Would this be your opinion as well, or are there any strong female candidates on the Democrat side?

  71. Charles

He could pick that Black woman who defaced the BLM mural at Trump Tower. That way he gets the BLM vote and the anti-BLM vote. A win win 😉

  72. That’s what it was – a black woman for VP. That sounds like a really stupid thing to say, unless he already had someone in mind? Otherwise, why automatically rule out everyone else? If there are genuinely no good female, black candidates for the job, then he has screwed himself. Unless he does a U-turn.

  73. Oh and Colm

Trump said it was yuge 🙂

  74. Kamala Harris of California has been considered and dropped. She was a prosecutor and is disliked by the black community. The liberal female mayor of Atlanta whose name escapes me is on the short list, also black. Stacy Abrams, the loser of the Georgia governors race was touted by the media, but says that Biden hasn’t contacted her.

So far, it’s being played very close to the vest. I’m sure the search is very poll driven.

  75. He should go for Oprah. He should also ask her to be Vice President 🙂
    He’d definitely win.

  76. Seimi, yes, I think it was very stupid of Biden to so narrow his list of candidates to just black women. What if Cuomo agreed to run with him? That would be a terrific pick!

Oh I forgot Susan Rice. Phantom would love that pick I think.

Yes, Trump could pick another VP.

  78. Oprah could win the Presidency on her own!

  79. Trump should select general Flynn as his VP

  80. I know it’s the wrong party, but Condoleeza Rice would be a great ‘Black woman’ pick don’t you think ?

  81. She would not bring any new voters to the cause

  82. She might bring a load of ‘soft’ Republicans over, but hey I know it won’t happen. I just always thought she was very cool calm and collected and I think she would have made a great first female (and black) President,

  83. Never shoot all your ammunition in the first volley and never show the enemies your plans

    Bidets winning by not fighting

  84. With a train wreck cult leader at the top of the ticket, I don’t think that a VP change will help Or hurt the Republicans at all. They could replace pence with either Comdaleeza or with Harvey Weinstein, The Republican vote count would not change at all

  85. Phantom I think Condaleeza would cause the republican vote to fall precipitously, you can’t be a racist douchebag and vote for a black lady

  86. Could be Duckworth.

Phantom I think Condaleeza would cause the republican vote to fall precipitously, you can’t be a racist douchebag and vote for a black lady

nonsense you saying that is racist.

  88. There will be no change in the ticket.

    Trump/Pence vs Biden/BlackLady

  89. Charles in Texas, on July 20th, 2020 at 11:58 PM Said: Edit Comment
    Remember McCain picking Palin. Disaster.

McCain was the disaster, Palin was the reason he got 60% of the votes that he got. Without her he would have lost by that much more.

  90. I agree Pat it is racism but it isn’t mine. Turnip has been stoking the racist underclass from the beginning, he can’t stop now

  91. What is the basis of your claim Palin was responsible for 60% of the McCain vote? Or is this just another Stat in your 800,000 Tulsa Counting Club?

  92. Pat.

McCain was the disaster, Palin was the reason he got 60% of the votes that he got. Without her he would have lost by that much more.

the sad thing is I think you really believe that

  93. Biden has made speeches on the economy and the climate. He is practicing best advice on avoiding covid19 and using Zoom. While Trump self-immolates Biden is raising tons of money. Trump just announced more assistance to Biden by stating that starting tomorrow he will resume his 5:PM virus slug-fest with reporters.

Biden said he would select a woman as VP. Women are an important part of his support and I think that was a smart decision. Women generally hate Trump, especially educated ones. There are several good candidates under consideration. Biden has said he wants a VP who will be ready to be president day one. He has also said he wants to have a relationship with his VP much as he had with Obama. My choice would be Susan Rice and she fulfills the criteria, she is top rate in every way and would be good for the country.

  94. Palin was a Hail Mary pass, an unknown chosen without any proper vetting

She was quickly exposed as an empty head, and has barely been heard from for years

    Terrible mistake by the Senator.

  95. Susan Rice would politely wipe the floor with Pence or Trump in any debate

  96. SarahPalin is an intellectual colossus compared to e current White House occupant 😉
