David Vance in conversation on the state of the United States!

What’s going on across the Pond? Will Trump prevail, what about Biden? Riots or peaceful protests? A Conversation with David, Ed, and The City Troll

  1. Well I haven’t had a chance to watch this all yet, just done 5 minutes, but of course the most exciting thing is seeing moving images and the voice of our great American star Patrick. Softer spoken than I expected but I look forward to completing the viewing later on. 🙂

  2. lol

  3. Pleasantly softer, articulate and more understanding than you portray yourself in type. I have to say, it’s good to see you looking in much better health than I thought you would be too.

I can’t watch the full vid but I’m sure that all views are the usual >rubbish propaganda impartial, nuanced and absolutely objectively logic 🙂

  4. Ya get a rare glimpse of me relaxed just chatting.

Can’t believe how often my head gets ahead of my mouth and I stutter……

  5. I thought Pat would have a Philly accent, but he sounded like Jeff Spicoli.
I admire the give and take of different opinions. Just not with this video since there were none.

  6. Mahons do you want to do one……

  7. all kidding aside, no you’re right on that point Mahons.

Just 3 guys looking at events who share a commonality of common sense. No bluster, just honest views.

  8. Comically biased. From the first twenty minutes:

    1. No mention of the US pandemic and 150,000 US deaths. Obviously none of that is Trump’s fault, his performance has been totally faultless. “Every country” had this. Yeah, and nearly every country has handled it better.

    2. You try to twist the chaos theme to claim it will help the Democrats. It will obviously benefit Trump, which is why he is throwing petrol on the flames every day. It’s an obvious attempt to replay the Nixon campaign from 1968. And it might just work.

    3. You mock Biden’s “mental issues” and ignore Trump’s obvious mental issues. Eg. advising the injection of bleach to counter the virus. You are trying to replay the “Hillary is sick!” meme from 2016, but it won’t wash in 2020 because Trump’s mental deficiencies have been cruelly exposed this year. You could almost feel sorry for him if he wasn’t such a cruel lying sociopath.

  9. Mahons do you want to do one……

I suggested something like this years ago. I wrote a post on it, actually. A chance for people to debate via video or something. The majority opinion, at the time, was a resounding ‘no’, with some people unwilling to discard their anonymity.

    Softer spoken than I expected…

I’ve watched or listened to something before, where I heard you speak, so I knew what to expect, both in speech and content 😉

  10. It is kind to offer but I’m pretty content for as an anonymous person here.

  11. Peter thank you for watching.

Why would we discuss the lefts view of things. I’d say there are many things Ed,David, and I don’t see eye to eye on, but we are all what would be considered conservative over here. The designations on that side of the pond don’t mean the same over here so what you would label Ed & David I’m not sure.

What we share is a value on morality, right and wrong, with much less power vested in and at the ability to yield by government.

  12. genuine offer Mahons

  13. Seimi you and I may be able to figure something out between you and I. I’d have to try and figure out the logistics, format, etc. Something we can talk about offline.

  14. Well done for stepping up pat I must admit I thought you’d be more like general ripper in dr strange love

  15. I suggested something like this years ago. I wrote a post on it, actually. A chance for people to debate via video or something. The majority opinion, at the time, was a resounding ‘no’, with some people unwilling to discard their anonymity.

Seimi — You could easily do a zoom call with cameras off (audio only) if people were more comfortable with it. All anyone would have to do is provide an email address to be sent the invite.

  16. you guys really should have discussed Nato withdrawl of 12,500 troops
Imagine if Obama had done that ?
So Trump must finish off Putin’s order of reducing troops in Germay and keep up the civil unrest – GOP will hope Putin can swing the election as a favour, and don’t talk about the bounties. Job Done # Traitor Trump

  17. Petr
Yeah, I was thinking something like that. Zoom didn’t even exist when I suggested it, I don’t think. I seem to recall Phantom being against doing it, but I can’t recall who else. I’ll have to dig out the post and have a look..
I might just be interested in that, PaTroll 😊

  18. //What we share is a value on morality, right and wrong,//

Don’t make me laugh! You all support Trump. None of you can have any notion of morality and right and wrong.

Otherwise, Patrick, well done. You should from now on never write another word; concentrate instead on Vlogs or these things or some other audio-visual medium.
In writing, you come across as vulgar, ill-educated and with the most absurd vanity. But you’re really good in front of a camera – you look mature, relaxed and warm-hearted. I honestly could hardly believe this is the same Patrick.

  19. BREAKING: Federal court denies Ghislaine Maxwell’s last minute motion to stop the public release of her deposition transcript.

Alan Dershowitz isn’t sleeping tonight. His time in the “barrel” will not go well. First wife’s suicide from the Brooklyn Bridge. Wife’s sister, married to Dersh’s brother, hit and killed by a truck shortly later. Then there was Dersh’s pushing for 14 to be the age of consent.

  20. Mahons do you want to do one……

That makes a nice change from your usual telling him to go and do one.

  21. Kurt — Dersh is a wong’un. Always has been a nasty piece of work.

  22. I believe that Dershowitz’s wife died in 1975

The sister in law was killed in a cycling accident in west side of Manhattan in 2011

The second incident was not “ shortly later “

  23. Pardon

This says that the wife committed suicide in 1983

The divorce was acrimonious apparently, and she lost custody of the children

  24. What has she got on Trump
Maybe her best bet to stay alive is to have all her knowledge sealed to be read after her death .
The worry is she will be “suicided” away
Protection like a statement only to be unsealed after secures her life .
Epstein should have done this !

  25. Noel , thank you, I don’t know why but my writing has always had a tone to it……

  27. Internet / blog / twitter technology has coarsened the dialogue generally in all our countries.

People ” speak ” in a different way than they might do in person.

I think that Twitter is particularly awful, as complex thought is impossible in short, often unthinking messages, and ” retweets ” of hot messages that the retweeter often hasn’t even read.

Twitter was created in 2006. I think that the dialogue in the US and UK have become much harsher since then, and that Twitter and cut and paste culture on blogs is a massive cause.

  28. Seimi I wish it was that simple.

Phantom Twitter is a sewer. Every dumps their crap in it.

  29. When I did my mask post you all laughed about if you wanted protection you needed goggles as well as a mask and gloves.

Will you laugh when your idol says it……

    https://nypost.com/2020/07/30/fauci-urges-americans-to-wear-goggles-for-added-covid-19-protection/?utm_campaign=SocialFlow&utm_source=NYPTwitter&utm_medium=SocialFlow&__twitter_impression=true

  30. At some point, I may revisit Twitter.

I don’t think that I laughed when you spoke of goggles? I see some people doing that here now.

    Even sunglasses might be helpful.

I was in lower Manhattan yesterday, and took the subway both ways. Very high level of mask wearing on and about the city, 100% wore masks on the subway.

Much fewer people on the street, lots of businesses closed.

Mahons, Industry Kitchen, by the East River, was a glorious cool place to be outside. Food, grog, service all good.

  31. I see goggles or face shields here, among a minority.

  32. Internet / blog / twitter technology has coarsened the dialogue generally in all our countries.

People ” speak ” in a different way than they might do in person.

Yes. There is a tendency to go right to extreme judgments about motives that inhibit actual debate. If you disagree with me then obviously you hate your country! People tend to either fire back in kind or step away from the discussion. Those kind of responses are easier to make online.

  33. This should be the subject of a larger discussion

May post something in a day or two

  34. Phantom you may look ridiculous, but with the amount of public transportation that you use latex gloves especially on the subway and if you do fly.

Touching a contaminated surface is more dangerous than breathing the trapped air.

  35. Trump suggests delaying 2020 election. How many here predicted this?

  36. I don’t know.

Mass transit is very crowded in Tokyo and Japan generally, and they’re doing way better than the US is. The Japanese would be using cloth masks, just as we do here.

    and

You reach for a can of soup at the store. Or you’re about to sit down in a waiting room chair at the auto repair shop. Suddenly, red flags for novel coronavirus (COVID-19) fly through your mind.

    Is this safe?

Here’s some straight scoop for you.

Yes, the virus lives on surfaces – door handles, countertops, clothing, furniture and much more. How long the virus survives on a given surface varies from hours to days, depending on numerous factors.

Yes, you can become infected with the virus after touching a contaminated surface.

But no, it’s not likely you would get sick that way – especially if you diligently practice good hand hygiene.

“We keep saying the same things your mother taught you when you were growing up. Frequent hand washing throughout the day is the best way to protect yourself,” said Lori Grooms, director of Infection Prevention and Control, Quality and Safety for OSF HealthCare.

I think that if you wash your hands diligently, you’re likely to be fine, even when you do touch surfaces.

  37. I think Herman Cain just died of covid.

  38. Seimi

Bill Maher of course spoke of this, as he spoke of Trump refusing to accept defeat if he lost.

Trump appears intent on imposing a major constitutional crisis on the nation.

  39. When I took the subway yesterday, I didn’t touch any surfaces with my hands.

Most of the time now, there are seats, so you don’t need to touch a pole.

  40. No the delay remark was made with a lot of question marks in a tweet about mail in voting…..

    This is BBC Spin

With Universal Mail-In Voting (not Absentee Voting, which is good), 2020 will be the most INACCURATE & FRAUDULENT Election in history. It will be a great embarrassment to the USA. Delay the Election until people can properly, securely and safely vote???

  43. Trump made false claims about voter fraud in 2016, and he is making more such false predictions now.

He intends to be a sore loser, and will put the nation through a Constitutional crisis for no good reason other than personal ego.

And I say this as one who doesn’t like mail in voting, other than for unusual circumstances.

  44. There is no BBC spin. Fox News is also reporting the exact same ‘spin’ in that case. Trump is flying a kite – One that tries to get Americans to not believe that he could lose fairly and squarely. His talk of postponing the election will be ramped up or down according to his latest polling figures and his concerns will be nothing to do with Covid restrictions !

  45. Mail in voting is fraudulent period….. complaining about unpurged voter roles or illegals you can make the case for it not being that bad, but fraud by mail in ballot is a long tradition and one a whole bunch of politicians have been arrested for including a slew of them last week in NJ.

//Phantom you may look ridiculous, but with the amount of public transportation that you use latex gloves especially on the subway and if you do fly.

Gloves don’t help as much as masks in preventing the spread of the virus.
The virus isn’t absorbed through the skin, and if you touch a contaminated surface then touch your mouth it doesn’t matter whether you’re wearing gloves or not, there’s still a chance you’re going to get infected.

  47. Cain attended the Tulsa rally without a mask.

  50. Dave the number one way ALL germs, viruses, and bacteria are spread is by touch.

    That is scientific fact.

  51. Then why do so few Japanese Taiwanese and Singaporeans have the virus

    They don’t generally wear gloves.

  52. So ignore the 100 years of historical proof including the sample of arrests I just posted of cases just in the last year…..

  53. Dave the number one way ALL germs, viruses, and bacteria are spread is by touch.

    That is scientific fact.

No it isn’t Patrick. Research suggests the main way it spreads is through contaminated droplets in the air.

The virus that causes COVID-19 is thought to spread mainly from person to person, mainly through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks. These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs. Spread is more likely when people are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet).

    https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/faq.html

The transmission of COVID-19 is thought to occur mainly through respiratory droplets generated by coughing and sneezing, and through contact with contaminated surfaces. The predominant modes of transmission are assumed to be droplet and contact.

If you’re sick a mask will stop you from spreading it, but if you are not sick a mask is the least protective.

  57. is that a good thing or a bad thing about my voice?

  58. If you’re sick a mask will stop you from spreading it

Well that’s a very good reason for all to wear masks in this time

Since the sick person will very often not know that he is sick

  59. Phantom, on July 30th, 2020 at 4:11 PM Said: Edit Comment
150,000 Union troops voted by mail during the Civil War.

Yeah an unlike today the military ballots were counted, I guess it might have been hard to send troops back home to vote in the middle of a war….

Point of curiosity…… over 90% of the mail in votes from the army that George “hurry up and wait” McClellan was in command of voted against him in that election.

  60. When I tried to vote by mail in the Navy, the ballot arrived too late for it to be counted.

I don’t think that more mail voting should be encouraged. Way better to have most vote in physical locations using good controlled procedures.

But Trump playing a dirty game by claiming that there is widespread fraud.

In a country of 300 million there will be some fraud, but no serious voice claims that it is significant.

  61. Mail in voting is fraudulent period…

If that truly were the case, then it is a part of your voting system which needs to be more closely monitored, or dropped altogether. But if Trump – and any other previous president – was so knowledgeable of this fraud for so long, why wait until now, mere months before an election – and when the polls seem to suggest he isn’t doing as well as he’d like – to call for a delay? Why didn’t he get to work on something so important right at the start of his first term? Was he too busy building his wall? Or out playing golf?

  62. Seimi mail in ballots have been fought about and been an issue in American elections my whole life.

Almost every election the military ballots aren’t counted and almost every election someone is arrested for tampering with mail in ballots.

Mail in ballots on avg makeup less than 5% of the vote and there is always fraud. The reason the right is having a fit is the left is pushing for the majority of votes to be done by mail, and unverified of who filled them out and signed them.

This also plays into the fight over voter id.

  63. Dave read your own highlighted stuff…. yes the person who is sick sneezes or coughs putting droplets in the air……. Those droplets land on all surfaces and contaminate them. Then when someone else touch’s those surfaces they get infected.

Yes Patrick. And both highlighted sections mentioned that the droplets can be inhaled.
I’m not denying that the effectiveness of face masks is unproven. however almost all of the experts say that face masks do provide a degree of protection.

If you’re sick a mask will stop you from spreading it, but if you are not sick a mask is the least protective.

The evidence and the experts say otherwise Patrick.

is that a good thing or a bad thing about my voice?

I’m not sure how it could be either good or bad in this context. I was just pointing out that I imagined you to have sort of a gruff, American mountain man type Voice. Like Grizzly Adams I suppose.

  64. Phantom,

Well that’s a very good reason for all to wear masks in this time

Since the sick person will very often not know that he is sick

Well said phantom. Especially when you can be infectious for days before showing any symptoms. The CDC and the NHS also give the same advice.

  65. Patrick 448

Who told you that the military ballots are generally not counted?

Who told you that the left or Democrats want the majority of votes to be cast by mail?

I think that the Democrats want voting by mail to be an easy option for those who want to cast their vote that way. I can see why many voters would want to vote by mail, esp If they are from states where the line to vote can be hours long. Why should anyone have to wait in a long line to vote, especially during a pandemic

    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/jun/09/georgia-election-primary-long-lines-broken-voting-machines

  66. Dave I’ve been immunocompromised for a decade…. funny how all the instructions I’ve received over the past ten years is now suddenly invalid….. you believe what you want. I think they still sell full body condoms. You might want to check into it.

  67. The 1918 flu virus spread to the most remote parts of the earth

I don’t think that it spread by touch to the Aleutians

  68. Re mail votes:

I understand the situation, and there is always, in every country, a risk of vote fraud. All I’m saying is, complaining about it months before the election and asking for the election to be delayed, especially when the polls don’t appear to be in your favour, looks suspicious. It looks like you know you’re not going to do well and want to delay so you can gather more votes in your favour, or eliminate votes against you ie get rid of mail votes.
This sort of thing should be dealt with by an incoming administration, not a (possibly) outgoing one. Transparency garners trusts.

    Re masks:

I still fail to see why anyone would refuse to wear a mask in a public area, a shop, on public transport, or anywhere else where you are going to mix with strangers. It is not an infringement of any rights. It’s simply added protection from a virus.
I’m going to Donegal for a few days on Sunday (Saturday is FA Cup Final day, and I’ll be at a socially-distanced BBQ, eating a 32 oz steak and hopefully watching Arsenal spank Chelsea). Myself, herself and junior himself will all carry masks wherever we go, and wear them if we do go in to any shops or pubs – which I fully intend to do. I haven’t had a pint in 5 months, so I’m going for one of the finest pints of Guinness in the country, in the Lighthouse Tavern, Fanad Head, Fanad, Donegal 🙂

  69. Patrick Van Roy,

you believe what you want. I think they still sell full body condoms. You might want to check into it.

As I’ve Repeatedly pointed out you Patrick, but it never seems to sink in, this is the advice being given by expert. I’m accepting the advice being given by experts. It’s not my personal opinion on whether masks work or not. I’ve looked at the evidence and the evidence is compelling. It’s a simple as that.
I don’t find the minor inconvenience of wearing a cloth mask when I go into shops or public places a problem, especially not when I could be saving the life of someone vulnerable to the disease.

  70. for those who don’t get the problem of mail in ballots.

How long did it take to recount the vote in Florida in Bush v Gore? Now times that by 50 states and what 6 or 7 territories……

The Term of a President ends on Jan 20 no matter what. So what happens if the 600 Lawyers the Biden Campaign have hired for election day drag the court battles out until then?

    Here is food for thought…..

Who takes control if there is no presidential election this year?

BY ALAN DERSHOWITZ, OPINION CONTRIBUTOR — 04/16/20 10:00 AM EDT

What if the pandemic were to become so bad that the election could not be held? There is no acceptable reason for this to happen, since there are alternatives to voting in person on a single day. But it is possible, although unlikely, that voting by mail will be unrealistic if the pandemic were to get so much worse that it endangered the lives of postal workers. So it is not too early to ask this question. What does the Constitution provide in the event that an emergency precludes an election before the end of a term of the president? It has never happened, and it will likely not happen this year, but law professors like hypotheticals, so here is my assessment.

We begin, of course, with the words of the Constitution. They provide no definitive answer, but they do provide some clear conclusions. Absent an election, the incumbent president does not continue to serve in an interim capacity until an election is finally held. Unlike parliamentary democracies such as Israel, where Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has continued to serve until his replacement has been selected, the term of our president ends on a specific date, regardless of whether a successor is chosen.

Indeed, the 20th Amendment says “the terms of the president and vice president shall end at noon” on January 20. Nothing could seem clearer. Yet the end of that paragraph provides that “the terms of their successors shall then begin.” But what if no successors have been elected? Does the president continue to serve as an interim officeholder? The answer is no because his or her term will definitely end at noon on January 20. If not reelected, the president becomes a private citizen on that day. So who then serves as president? The Constitution provides no solid answer.

Unlike when a president is impeached or dies, there is no set succession plan for a situation with no election. The 20th Amendment speaks to the issue of when neither a president nor a vice president have been chosen “before the time fixed for the beginning of his term,” but it still refers to a somewhat different scenario. “Congress may by law provide for the case wherein neither a president elect nor a vice president elect shall have qualified, declaring who shall then act as president, or the manner in which one who is to act shall be selected, and such person shall act accordingly until a president or vice president shall have qualified.”

But if there is no election, there is no president elect nor vice president elect. Congress does provide for a line of succession to the White House “if by reason of death, resignation, removal from office, inability, or failure to qualify,” there is neither a president nor a vice president. This also does not appear to encompass the absence of an election. There is an obvious gap in our Constitution as the Framers simply did not contemplate a “no election” scenario. However, even if Congress has the authority to fill this gap in the Constitution, it is unclear that it has done so with the existing law, because the line of succession begins with the House speaker.

But there would be no House speaker if there were no election, because there would be no House, all of whose members would be up for election in November. The terms of all members of the House would end, as stated in the Constitution, on January 3. There would, however, be a Senate, with a majority of its members not up for election in November and, therefore, still serving their terms. This is important as the next in line would be the president pro tempore of the Senate, which is Charles Grassley. However, if there were no election, there may be a Democratic majority among the remaining senators not up for reelection, unless sitting governors or state legislators were allowed to fill vacant seats, which is another issue. The longest serving majority senator is traditionally handed the honor of serving as the president pro tempore of the chamber. Among Democrats that would be Patrick Leahy. But a Democratic majority could choose any sitting senator for that role, including Elizabeth Warren and even Bernie Sanders. If the succession law covers a missed election, which would be doubtful, then the senator selected to serve as president pro tem would become the next president. This thought is scary enough to Republicans to assure that they will do everything they can to hold the election.

The alternatives are unthinkable in a democracy. We would have a nation with no president and no working Congress, or an interim president who is not definitively authorized by the law. Because of the uncertainty of any alternative to voting, it is in the interest of both parties and all Americans to make sure that the election is held in a safe and timely manner.

Alan Dershowitz, professor emeritus at Harvard Law School, served on the legal team representing President Trump during the Senate impeachment trial. He has written more than 40 books, including his newest one, “Guilt by Accusation: The Challenge of Proving Innocence in the Age of Me Too.”

So celebrate the death of Cain and the infection of Gohmert NYr……

  75. Largely a home is not always at home

So you think that it was good that Cain and Gohmert didn’t wear masks?

    Why?

  76. Some highlights for me of this video were David pointing out that chlorinated chicken is safe because he’s been to the States several times and never eaten it as a vegetarian, but it’s never caused Ed a problem when he’s been to the States.

And Ed’s conspiracy theory that covered is being dragged out around the world to hinder trump’s re-election.

  77. Patrick Van Roy,

So Dave the Medical Experts that have been advising me for a decade including Dr’s of virology, epidemiology, and immunology all that has changed because of the Chicom Flu ?

I can’t speak to the medical advice you’ve had Patrick, but the overwhelming medical advice from virology experts all over the world is it that masks are a benefit.
And when I lived down south, I also knew a lady who had a compromised immune system and she wore a mask all the time outside the house. And that was 20 years ago.

  78. So you think that it was good that Cain and Gohmert didn’t wear masks?

I don’t think it would have made a difference either way.

Like it or not, mask or not, gloves or not. The odds are you are going to be exposed. If it’s your time to die, you’re gonna die, if it’s not your time you won’t.

The condition your own health and body are the ONLY factor that is either going to keep you alive or kill you.

  79. Gohmert is a really bad guy

He is one who mocked junior staff when they wore masks

Now he gets the virus and he pretends that it was the mask that did it.

  80. Sorry Gohmert is one of the better ones.

  81. I dipped in and out a bit.

PVR sounds much more sane in voice than in print.

  82. That seems to be the universal reaction. We expected the voice to be a mixture of John Wayne, a Mafia Don and an angry gun totin’ southern redneck…. instead we get a sort of gentle hybrid between Walter Konkrite and Martha Stewart 🙂

  83. lmao…..

  84. Well there is a conspiracy theory written by a guy called Alan on the daily stormer ( a site devoted to the after effects of a hot curry ) that in fact pat was played by a state actor and the real pat is still in a padded cell in Alabama his home for the last 10 years 🤪 make of that what you will

  85. PVR

“How many people in NYC after they passed the lockdown who were Self Isolating, wearing their masks, and social distancing made up the second wave to hit NYC ?” There has been no second wave in NYC.

The Cuomo article you link is three months old, and that is eons ago in the virus crisis.

NY state has a population of over twenty million and there are only 600-700 people hospitalized with the virus, and the number drops every day. NY has done a very good job responding to the virus.

  86. NYr it doesn’t change the facts….. if you were paying attention to FACTS.

When NY was getting it’s most cases they were coming from people following the Guidelines.

but then facts are not what motivate you.

  87. I’ve never been to Alabama….. 😉

  88. The most cases and the most virus deaths in NYC/NYS was in mid April.

The statewide mask order was first enacted in mid April. And compliance was not immediate. Most didn’t own masks then.

The statewide lockdown order was March 22. You don’t turn a battleship around on a dime, we didn’t turn the virus around right away either

  89. I understand the logistics and ny got caught with it’s pants down, we all did but it cost NYC the most in blood.

Everyone was shocked when the stats came back the way they did, but that’s how they came back by Cuomo’s own admission 60% were following protocol and made up the new cases.

Wearing a mask stops the spread of it, but does nothing to prevent contraction it lives to long on surfaces exposed to the air.

Jet Blue today was the test environment for medical level sterilization of an aircraft, by all reports it went well.

A company has adapted the hospital ultraviolet robot we use to sterilize hospital rooms. It’s 2 powerful to be operated by a person it can only be operated programed or remotely. A room is easy an aircraft is not. It was however a success.

The cost of this virus has been high, but this device adopted by all the major carriers and employed on a regular basis could save millions of lives.

  90. PVR

“NYr it doesn’t change the facts….. if you were paying attention to FACTS.” You have the facts wrong. You said NY had a second wave but there was no second wave in NY.

You refer to an article that is three months old when guidelines were changed since then as more was known about the virus.

  91. New York New York, so good they named it twice

New York New York has the virus hit them twice ?

    Discuss 🙂

  92. Wearing a mask stops the spread of it, but does nothing to prevent contraction it lives to long on surfaces exposed to the air.

I think that everyone agrees with that. But that’s the whole point – to stop the spread. The point of requiring masks is to stop people who are infected but don’t know it from spreading it to those who are not infected. Your mask is not to protect you from being infected. Your mask is to protect you from infecting others if you already are infected.

This is a new virus and we don’t understand everything about it yet but it appears to spread mostly via air droplets and less by touching contaminated surfaces. That doesn’t make any information about other viruses wrong. It means this one is different.

  93. Good comment Neal.

We are constantly learning and observing what appears to work on this new virus.

It is amazing that we saw such declarative ” it’s no big deal ” comments months ago, here, and from the White House stage.

The experts never claim to know it all, and they certainly are not claiming that this is a small thing.

  94. Neal it only stops it from spreading from those who already have it…. if your wearing a mask and don’t have it YOU can’t spread it…. and the mask you’re wearing won’t save you from contracting it.

Have you been tested Neal ?

How many here have been, you must get tested for both the active virus and the anti-bodies. I’ve been checked for both, and I’m against masks. All of you swear by masks but don’t have the guts to even do your own responsibility to protect those around you by getting tested.

    Hypocrisy.

  95. “Neal it only stops it from spreading from those who already have it…. if your wearing a mask and don’t have it YOU can’t spread it…. and the mask you’re wearing won’t save you from contracting it.”

And thus the effectiveness of the mask is preventing it from spreading from people who have it but don’t know they have it. If you only mandate it for people who have it and know they have it then it won’t be effective. Having a universal policy means that those who have it but don’t know they have it are less likely to spread it.

  96. if you don’t know you have it after 6mths of this crap….. it’s because you don’t have the personal integrity to bother getting tested.

You are not a responsible enough human being to get tested, but comfortable enough with your own lack of integrity to lecture how others should act……

Something about a stye in my eye comes to mind.

  97. Patrick’s repeated insistence that we only need to worry about touching surfaces is copper-bottomed bollocks, as we say in this part of London.

Yes, viruses can remain viable for surprising lengths of time on surfaces. Yes, we should be careful not to touch surfaces any more than necessary, and wash our hands frequently to ensure we don’t infect ourselves.

But respiratory viruses (e.g. the common cold) are often transmitted primarily by aerosol – by tiny droplets expelled through nose and mouth, and suspended in the air. Covid is caused by another such virus. This isn’t up for debate, Patrick. It’s a fact. Stop spreading untruths because of your own ignorance/prejudice, and listen to what the experts say.

  98. When he has no argument, he gets personal.

Like his master and savior ( Jesus 2.0 ) Trump does.

    Every time.

  99. a few of my dublin mates have repeated the unfortunate line
you can catch the corona virus via your backside?

this was cleared up when they learned that
“aresol” refers to particles/dropelets in the air , not your arsehole !

    its a pronunciation thing 😉

Late friday afternoon balderdash here – getting a gag in ..lol

  100. Phantom,
//When he has no argument, he gets personal.//

    Yep. Every time.

  101. masterson,

Patrick’s repeated insistence that we only need to worry about touching surfaces is copper-bottomed bollocks, as we say in this part of London.

Absolutely mate. it’s an undisputable fact this if somebody with the virus sneezes without a mask, they put hundreds of droplets into the air, many which will contain the virus. Others wearing a mask will go a long way to preventing them breathing those contaminated droplets in.

Anybody with half a brain can see that it that’s factually correct, but Patrick continues to deny it. But then what you expect from somebody who denies that the atmosphere plays any part in controlling the planets climate.

  102. How often do you get tested Patrick? Every day?

  103. Patrick

Yes, I have been tested, both the PCR and antibody tests were negative.

True that my one individual mask isn’t protecting me very much, and if I remain negative they’re not protecting anyone else, but again the key is that many who are infected don’t know it. If everyone is wearing a mask, some of those people are indeed infected, and the rest of us will be protected from that group because they are masked.

  104. Neal you see in my view you’ve earned the right to bitch one way or another you have acted responsibly.

Phantom and as far as I know except for the one person who I think actually had it on this site ALL refuse to be tested, but revel in telling others what THEY need to do.

So whether I agree with your view or disagree with it you’ve earned my respect to give your view more weight than the others because you walked the walk and did the basic first step in being a responsible citizen.

    Phantom,
//When he has no argument, he gets personal.//

    Yep. Every time.

bullshit winning or losing to me it’s always personal.

How many years have we been doing this ? and you still don’t understand that it’s ALL personal.

My heart is always on my sleeve and not one of you ever says a nice thing in my regard….. so do any of you want some cheese to go with your Whine…..

  106. I’ve been tested twice for the active, once for the ant-bodies before I got my winter shots I’ll get tested again….. I guess I have to keep repeating this not because any of your are dumb, just uninformed on what it means.

I am immunocompromised, any cold, flu, virus, germ, bacteria can lead to my death. I’ve lived with this danger for years. My life is structured as to minimize my risk. I know and understand unlike the rest of you that there is no way to prevent exposure from whatever current crop of germs/virus/bacteria are prevalent at any time of the year.

Basic Routines can keep you out of danger, but you have to follow them. I don’t ride mass transit, I will never get on another plane and other than Phantom I probably have more air miles than the rest of you combined…. even if they were all in the US. I love to fly, and used to do it for free. Oh well….

I will shake hands if you shove yours at me, but I won’t offer mine. And whenever I leave the house I have hand sanitizer with me and the first thing I do upon entering my home is wash my hands.

Everyone of you need to get both tests at least once. You point out that there is the second coming of the blackdeath in covid yet you refuse the basic step in being responsible with this contagion that you fear enough to stay home work from home, wear a mask when you leave and forego restaurants bars and social events……

Yet no test…… that’s both hypocrisy and stupidity.

  107. pat they’re following the advice given ( now if everyone did that , we wouldn’t be where we are in the US of A ) – testing is necessary for your condition and set of circumastances as you are , through not fault of your own , classed as vulnerable
should either of messers mahons or phantom, god forbid , have symptoms, they will most certainly have to isoate for upto 14 days , and take the test
    that’s how this is working
its not a personal thing , so there is NO stupidiy and No hypocrisy here
( swing and a miss me ol mucker 😉

  108. “I’ve been tested twice for the active, once for the ant-bodies before I got my winter shots I’ll get tested again….. I guess I have to keep repeating this not because any of your are dumb, just uninformed on what it means.”

So you don’t get tested every day then? So when you get tested all it tells you is if you have the virus. And all the anti-body testing tells you is if you had the virus. So unless you get tested regularly there is no way of knowing if you have come into contact with the virus and have caught it. And so people could be unknowingly infected (safe in some misconception that because they have tested negative that they are safe). And while being unknowingly infected are wearing a mask, and thus are infecting other people, because anti-science flat earth types have flooded the zeitgeist with anti-mask propaganda.

  109. You have no idea who has or has not been tested here, except where people have volunteered to speak of it.

This is an exceptionally bizarre, argumentative obsession, by someone who thinks that covid is the flu and who thinks he knows more about masks than those who study these things do.

  110. *unknowingly infected are not wearing a mask

  111. indeed seamus
pat please its now just embarrassing for you to continue like this
pack it up mate, the ship has sailed, its a small price to pay to save a life
do what your told, and even if its over-cautious , its pragmatic ffs
settle down or as they say over there hunker down now 😉

remember patty mayo , no sticks, no sharps, no pokes ok

  112. Seamus that’s called life, you can walk out of the house and get hit by a car, shit happens. We are exposed to germs/viruses/bacteria everyday that can kill us. Common sense over your hysteria.

Phantom the only person suffering from obsession is you an obsession to tell everyone WHAT MUST BE DONE! Your obsessions is based in brainwashed bullshit… telling people how to be protected…that anyone from the greater NYC area has the hypocritical arrogance to lecture anyone from anywhere else is laughable…..

The people from where the least have died could, not someone from where the most deaths occured….. you have no ground to stand on.

  113. The locals from Texas aren’t blowing this off the way are you are, nor do they say any of the things that you say.

Neither do any of the people who have studied viruses for decades.

” Shit happens “. So let’s have indoor rallies with masks. Yay.

  114. “Seamus that’s called life, you can walk out of the house and get hit by a car, shit happens.”

Shit does happen. But you do things to reduce the risk of shit happening. You look both ways when crossing the road to avoid getting hit by the car. So similarly when out and about with this pandemic wear a mask.

  115. Pat for goodness sake ITS NOT ABOUT YOU
the mask is for others , can you put selfishness aside for a second
put your catholic hat on if it make things easier
you are your brothers keep , God wants you to protect life
    settle down now
    does that work ?

  116. Pat sneers at the dead Mr. Cain and says, ” shit happens ”

As was said before, this is a movement that wants to kill it’s own.

    And that’s not an exaggeration.

  117. pat can’t bear the brotherliness of this effort, its kinda like communism to him
what? i’m helping out my neighbour, ?
but he does that helping at this local church feeding the poor
    he’s just conflicted
    his brain is going
    1) but this is not america, we fight only for our own
    and the other part ,
    2) shit no we’re in this together

one of these two jekyl hyde’s has to give way and peace comes in the morning

  118. Patrick

Phantom and as far as I know except for the one person who I think actually had it on this site ALL refuse to be tested, but revel in telling others what THEY need to do.

Been tested. I’ve had coronavirus. I kicked its ass.

  119. Poor Pat

  120. Yes.

Once again he has shown himself to be the clown ATW.

  121. God what a sad pathetic lot…. It honors me that you all hold yourselves in such regard as to judge me. Casting aspersions that reflect no part of how I live my life now or ever.

I speak my mind and my heart with brutal honesty, does this place me above or better than others? Not in my view. I’m just a man, a failure in many things and rich in others.

I have confidence in the way I have lived my life that god will judge me favorably no matter what atrocity any of you view in me, for none exists. Honestly stating ones views is never a sin in the lords eye. It mat be folly but never sin.

You shall be judged by the deeds that you do when no one is looking, when you are truly selfless. So my eternal soul shall thus be weighed.

My views may not be refined to your tastes, but how I explain the truths of life and humanity is not yours to chose, but mine.

You don’t like it change the channel.

  122. ot great bit of news……

The Supreme Court on Friday rejected a last-ditch effort from environmentalists to stop the ongoing construction of parts of President Trump’s border wall.

The Sierra Club had asked the justices to undo their decision from a year ago that allowed construction. A panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit ruled in late June that the administration’s use of funds intended for the Defense Department was unlawful.

  123. My heart is always on my sleeve and not one of you ever says a nice thing in my regard…

I for one have said many times on this site that you are totally devoted to your family. I have defended you when others have made false claims that you are a racist. I defended you when others made claims about the funding page set up here for you.
You and I have had some nasty, spiteful, angry arguments on ATW. We have called each other horrible things. We have argued over each others’ morality. And yet, I would still say that you are a man who loves his family unequivocally, and who judges a man by his actions, not the colour of his skin.

Have you been tested Neal ?

    How many here have been…

I’ve been tested, twice. My son has been tested once. Herself? Four times so far, and will probably have more tests. She’s a social worker, and therefore has continued to work throughout all of this. What my tests confirmed for me was that I didn’t have Covid-19 at the time. I may have it now. I may have had it since and gotten over it. I may not have had it at all. To be sure, we stayed at home, washed our hands a lot, and avoided crowds. Isolating didn’t kill us. In fact, it was nice, in a lot of ways.

Your argument against wearing a mask is absolute insanity. No matter what way you cut it – if a mask only provided a 1% better chance of not contracting or spreading the virus than not wearing a mask, then wear the damn mask! It’s common sense!

  124. Patrick

//God what a sad pathetic lot…. It honors me that you all hold yourselves in such regard as to judge me. Casting aspersions that reflect no part of how I live my life now or ever.//

More diversionary nonsense from you Patrick. we’re not judging you by the way You live your Life or whether you’re a good or bad person. What were pointing out, and why I called you a clown, is that you deny stone cold facts. I have a difference of opinion with you on a lot of things, such as gun ownership. But that’s fine I may not agree with you but I can respect your opinion. What I can’t respect is when you make a nonsensical, ridiculous claims, such as masks have no effect on stopping contaminated droplets entering your respiratory system. Or the atmosphere plays no part in the planets temperature control. Or John McCain was responsible for the USS Forrestal fire.

    As Seimi said:
//Your argument against wearing a mask is absolute insanity. No matter what way you cut it//

  125. It honors me that you all hold yourselves in such regard as to judge me.

I mean its not as if Patrick ever judges others here. Heaven forbid. 🙂

  126. Yes Seimi, I too consider you an honest man and a friend.

and Colm you are always fair with everyone the true conscience of the site…..

my anger in my response is just that anger. Shoot I’m not aloud to get angry at being called a clown and attacked not for substance, but for personality.

How I interact with Phantom and Mahons is between them and me.

You call mr callous and cold, how I live my life is anything but. The fact that my perspective of a situation is different than yours is natural.

What really pissed me off about this whole thread was the tone it took on Cain. Cain was a good man there were no skeletons in his closet worthy of a hate post on his death which is what Mahons wrote.

He was a business man and a success, he caught the Chicom Flu and Died and you all basically have said he deserved it because he did not wear a mask. All I said was it was his time. And I’m told I don’t give a shit. Well if I don’t give a shit, you people are saying he deserved it.

So once again, if you don’t want your views criticized don’t say them. If you don’t like my perspective change the channel. This site is bought and paid for by DV, but like it or not the site is run by Pete and ME, and there are none of you that can say it’s not run fair.

Hell I even willingly have opened it up to all of you to submit your own views for publication. That’s from me gentleman no one else.

  127. //Hell I even willingly have opened it up to all of you to submit your own views for publication. That’s from me gentleman//

Did you not tell us you were against opening up contributions?

I think your politics are insanity but there is no question of your love your family not your consistence in seeing people in non racial terms. In general terms I think your heart is in the right place if somewhat fundamentally misguided.

As a matter of fact, with some very few exceptions I don’t think there’s any ATW regulars that I couldn’t get on with.

  128. No Paul I said I was initially against ANY IRA supporters even commenting here….. and that was over a decade ago that I raised those objections to our host….. (Gaskins actually convinced me that any of you were worth the time)

but unless I’ve suffered a complete psychotic break….. YOU SEIMI DAVE KURT have ALL sent me pieces that have been PUBLISHED under my name with each of you as a guest poster……

over the years of interacting with all of you I would say I have proven that I am willing to hear and even provide platform PUBLICATION access to all of you.

What pissed me off this morning was Phantoms remark that I didn’t give a shit Cain died… oh well.

I give a shit if ANYONE dies of this disease. I’ve spent the last 5 months volunteering helping the sick and elderly with care packages and other assistance.

I guarantee bubble boy hasn’t lifted a finger to do anything to help a single person that this pandemic has effected yet he’s going to call me heartless…..

The heck with all of you.

  129. PVR

“I’ve spent the last 5 months volunteering helping the sick and elderly with care packages and other assistance.” Good to hear. You are doing the right thing during the pandemic for those in need.

  130. I have no shoes, but I still feet

  131. //I’ve spent the last 5 months volunteering helping the sick and elderly with care packages and other assistance.//

Yes, it’s good to do good when nobody knows about it, as you say.

  132. @Noel – LOL! 😂

  133. Patrick

//my anger in my response is just that anger. Shoot I’m not aloud to get angry at being called a clown and attacked not for substance, but for personality.//

That’s quite a laughable comment from a man who is nearly always the first to attack other people personally. And as I pointed out many times, I don’t have a personal problem with you you Patrick, just with the nonsense you spout.

  134. Pat, the gratuitous, misplaced anger in your 69.16 above is palpable. Why do you have to consider every such comment to be an attack?

You said recently, (within the last two weeks), that there had been a discussion as to opening up ATW to guest posters and you had voted against Irish Republicans being published but you were wrong in your opposition and that Irish Republicans provide some of the most stimulating conversations for you, (words to that effect).

I don’t know the authenticity of the claim but that’s what you recently said here.

  135. * your 9.16 above….

  136. Paul yes and I explained last week that those conversations took place over a decade ago when you were posting under another name, andrew was still here as were many others.

I spoke out against David allowing ANY even semi supporters of the IRA on here, I am glad the real majority of 1 DV went against my feeling. I enjoyed conversing with Gaskins, and enjoy you, seimi, and seamus.

I have no hostility towards any of you, I don’t agree with the majority of your politics, but you’re decent folk. You have to understand.

I am Irish/Italian both sides of the family have been in policing for over 100yrs but it isn’t the Italian cop or butcher, or the irish cop or bricklayer that were idolized in film and the media it was the IRA and the Mafia… and the Mafia was also always 1/3 Irish in my country.

I’ve lost family fighting organized crime, that’s what shaped my position then… it does not now.

My anger yesterday was Mahons whole post and Phantoms comment about me.

When the post on John Lewis was made my only comment on it was a compliment to who the man started out as. I didn’t get into his later politics or what they did to a movement he helped create, Lewis became everything he marched against. I was mum.

Mahons post was racist, and I said so and phantoms comment that I didn’t give a shit about Cains death combined with Mahons racism angered me…. it’s all just that simple.

add to the fact that this hard as nails man was a basket case because I had to just put my pet of 16yrs to sleep had me in a very bad place didn’t help….

  137. My interpretation on your recent remark was that the comment was referring to those who submitted pieces for publication. I may have misead or misinterpreted it.

I don’t see the equation of your family having a police tradition and political violence in Ireland. If I’m honest I think that you’re ignorant, (that’s not an insult), of the history and politics which led to the formation of the IRA and think that you’re heavily influenced by David & AMcC’s incredibley biased and selective analysis.

I’ve often thought in the context of your political personality presented here that had you been born into the same circumstances of the Irish Republicans here not only would you be a vocal supporter of armed Irish Republicanism but you’d also probably have become an IRA volunteer.

  138. Patrick

Very sorry to hear about having to say a final goodbye to a beloved pet. Such a loss can be as painful as the loss of a human companion. As to your angry interludes on this thread, hey that’s just you being Authentically you. We wouldn’t expect any different.

  139. PaTroll
You have to understand something as well. We, as Irish Republicans and Nationalists, have lost friends and family to British security forces and their paramilitary dogs. That colours our perception. But we also recognise the difference between right and wrong, and whilst we may support a cause, we don’t condone or support the murder of innocents.
On aore personal note, my sincere condolences on your loss. A pet is not just a pet. It’s a member of the family, and it’s passing can feel as heartbreaking as any other.

  140. Truly sorry for your loss Pat.

My faithful companion for sixteen years had to be put to sleep three years ago and it still hurts me to think of her.

Absolutely heartbreaking. I wish you all strength.

  141. no Paul

The decision to run yours and others pieces was given to me and I have not hesitated in not only publishing them but encouraging you and others to please submit them to me.

My objections were from when the first contingent showed up at the beginning…. between 15-20yrs ago. and I’m glad to say I was wrong.

  142. Lol. The Cain post wasn’t racist in the slightest degree.

  143. Sorry to hear of your loss Patrick. That’s a tough bit of business that can knock you back.

  144. You have to understand something as well. We, as Irish Republicans and Nationalists, have lost friends and family to British security forces and their paramilitary dogs. That colours our perception. But we also recognise the difference between right and wrong, and whilst we may support a cause, we don’t condone or support the murder of innocents.

which over the past 20yrs Seimi, you, paul and the others have opened my eyes to and educated me, I owe you a debt.

I don’t know all the little subtleties I’ve read vthe histories from both sides because that is what I do, but you don’t get from a book what you get from living it as you lot have.

My view was at the time colored by my family history I viewed the IRA as just another form of mafia. In the US the IRA always raised money but never really had a presence here, but the Irish part of the Mafia has always been as strong on the eastcost as the Italian Mafia and Jewish Mafia.

    That’s what colored my opinion.

I thank you all for your condolences, over my cat. I had always been a dog person, never liked cats. Monica is petrified of dogs so we’ve always had a cat and no matter how much I ignored or resisted it she attached herself to me like glue sat with me, slept with me, was always under my feet for 16yrs….. and putting her down killed me.

  145. Lol. The Cain post wasn’t racist in the slightest degree.

I disagree, but was not about to argue with you about it, because I didn’t think you meant it to be.

  146. In many households the reluctant pet owners often becomes the most enamored member with the pet over time. Not easy to have to let one go.

  147. Herman Cain’s reckless behavior killed him. And that behavior was due to a need to coform to the anti-scientific dithering of Trump and not to his race.

  148. Conform.

  149. I didn’t make a fuss George because I knew you did not mean for your post to come across as racist, but if I wrote with the tone you wrote about Cain about Lewis it would have been claimed I was being racist. I do not believe there was racism or malice in your heart.

  150. But the Irish part of the Mafia has always been as strong on the eastcost as the Italian Mafia and Jewish Mafia.

It’s wrong to automatically equate Irish Republicans with Irish American organised crime. Prior to the outbreak of the previous conflict I’d read that the state of NI had the lowest crime rate and prison population in the UK and one of the lowest in Europe.

Irish Republicans didn’t just wake up one day and decide to start shoting.

  151. Not only was my intent not racist there is no rational basis for suggesting the post was racist. The tone I wrote and write about Cain dealt with his needless death which his behavior caused.

  152. I agree Mahons post about Cain was not remotely racist. It’s lazy to claim a post critical of a politician who happens to be black must be automatically considered racially motivated.

  153. ahhh but if a conservative writes criticism of a black liberal it is the first thing said…..

If it applies to one side it applies to all.

Is it fair, is it real, NO,

it is the fact of the race card….. applied equally.

  154. So now you’ll concede it wasn’t racist but that you were just throwing out the false claim because some conservative may have been incorrectly criticized as racist by someone.

  155. Cain acted in a suicidal way, against the advice of the Oklahoma and world medical community

Anger towards Mahons should be redirected to the organizers of this super spreader event

The organizers were criminals, Anyone who attended without a mask was a complete idiot

Can we at least agree on that

  156. So now you’ll concede it wasn’t racist but that you were just throwing out the false claim because some conservative may have been incorrectly criticized as racist by someone.

  157. I believe I’ve already said that Mahons.

  158. Phantom take your meds

  159. I prefer it be spelled out that you make fake accusations because someone else may have. For someone who bangs on about telling the truth that is a pretty damping admission.

  160. //ahhh but if a conservative writes criticism of a black liberal it is the first thing said…..

If it applies to one side it applies to all.//

Bullshit. Either you think something is true or you think it isn’t true. If you think it isn’t true, then don’t say it. Can you and your fellow Trumpers not finally learn that simple lesson?

  161. If you want an apology I will give you one.

I apologize for responding to your post about Herman Cain with the one word response that every member of your party responds with to any critical post about a black liberal.

    Racist.

    How’s that?

Mahons go read my comments…… at no point did I malign YOU the first comment on that thread was one word said for the exact reason I state. No where did I elaborate and I’ve even said that there is no racism from you or I believe in your heart.

There are several here that bigotry reside in, you however have NEVER shown the slightest racial bigotry in the entire time I’ve interacted with you and I would be shocked if you held a racist thought.

Now you may understand the pain and frustration conservatives have to deal with on a regular basis when that charge is levelled for no reason.

It sucks don’t it? You just got to be the example, collateral damage. How many times did your brother NYr say that Obama’s skin color was a factor in my criticism of him?

  162. Bullshit. Either you think something is true or you think it isn’t true. If you think it isn’t true, then don’t say it. Can you and your fellow Trumpers not finally learn that simple lesson?

    Noel…… the Truth? Whose TRUTH…..?

    Russian Collusion…. that Truth?

    Framing a 3 star General…. that Truth?

    Criticize Obama you’re a racist….. that Truth?

  163. Patrick….

You said both mahons and his post were racist…. that Untruth.

  164. You wrote above “Mahons post was racist” and “combined with Mahons racism.” Did you forget that as well?
The choice of writing something false and the choice of writing something true when you write is yours alone.

  165. nope sorry dude hows it feel…….

You criticized a black man, by today’s rules as set by the people YOU support that very act makes you a racist.

These are the rules that are being set by your party, the rules that they have used on every conservative in my lifetime. The rules that they are rioting in the streets for as we speak…

Black Lives Matter, you will kneel, disavow your white privilege, and you will never speak a negative word against a person of color true or not is irrelevant. To criticize a black person is racist…… those are your party rules and the rules they are imposing on ALL of America….

Oh wait you want your democrat due…. As a Democrat YOU can criticize a black man as long as he’s a conservative….

Sorry I don’t believe in two sets of rules. If any criticism of a black person is racist by the right the same shall apply to the left.

So by the rules of your party you’re a racist……

  166. now for the stupid….. I don’t believe a word of that, but those are the rules established and promoted by the Democrat Party of the US.

Mahons hasn’t a racist bone in his body….. but he criticized a black man his party rules say doing so makes him a racist…. period.

  167. Mohons in all sincerity if I offended you I am sorry. You my friend are not racist.

  168. For God’s sake, Patrick, try to be honest and admit to what you said. You said you were upset by mahons’ racism and his racist post. The context shows clearly that you were not being ironic or tongue-in-cheek.

That has nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with whether liberals call racist any criticism of any black person (although that is of course also untrue)

I don’t care what you call mahons, he can defend himself. But it’s high time you and your fellow Trumpists learned at least to recognise the truth, even if you can’t manage to speak it.

This is yet another example of the blatant lies upon lies that your side apparently can’t operate without.

  169. Even your claims that there is some rule that criticism of a black man by a conservative is racist is false. There are occasions when conservative criticism can be racist and occasions when the charge of racism against them is false. You are squealing like Ned Beatty in Deliverance caught with your proverbial pants down once again.

  170. Patrick I’m not offended by anything you write.

  171. thank you

    Beautiful patriotic scenes in Tulsa
Indeed. This could be a truly patriotic Covid super-spreader event. I’ll bet that the Dear Leader will be well back and well screened from the spraying hollering crowd of patriots. One hundred infected patriots could easily infect a few thousand fellow-patriots who will carry the infection back to their families in thousands of towns and cities. But it’s all in a good cause. The Dear Leader must be re-elected, even if it costs a million American deaths. That would still be a price worth paying

    .

  173. this is pure bullshit

Even your claims that there is some rule that criticism of a black man by a conservative is racist is false. There are occasions when conservative criticism can be racist and occasions when the charge of racism against them is false. You are squealing like Ned Beatty in Deliverance caught with your proverbial pants down once again.

there is no one here that thinks me a racist, and I still had to deal with being called one for 8yrs straight and here we’re all friends.

Both you know and I know that the accusation of the word racist is a bludgeon used against conservatives whether they’re racist or not. It is very effective and was used for 8yrs by two of the biggest news outlets in this country to silence honest debate and criticism.

A large part of what is occuring in our nations streets as we speak is a direct result of the misinformation and false consistent accusation of racism used as standard procedure by the democrat party. They’ve based the core of their platform on it for 50yrs.

It needs to stop. Ignoring it and defending against the false accusation has been an utter failure, the flipside is use the race card right back and with a vengeance….

The democrats have made a crucial error, they went that one inch to far with the racecard this time and for the first time in my memory it’s backfiring and how badly we won’t know until nov 4th, but I feel it’s going to devastating.

Maybe it will cause a shift in longrun tactics, one can hope.

Race, Gender, and Sexual Preference has no place in any discussion except in the bedroom where it’s nobody’s business. They belong nowhere else as an issue.

  174. Patrick – that first sentence is the disclaimer that should be on your comments.

  175. lol….

    you shit the bulls tired…..

  176. ot

President Donald Trump on Sunday demanded the death penalty for the Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev after a federal appeals court ruled to overturn his death sentence.

“Death penalty! He killed and badly wounded many,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “Justice!”

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit ordered a new penalty phase to Tsarnaev’s trial, arguing the first group of jurors were biased by the high publicity of the event.

Tsarnaev was sentenced in May 2015 to six death sentences after he and his older brother Tamerlan killed three and injured more than 260 people with a bomb at the Boston Marathon and later murdered an M.I.T. police officer as they fled law enforcement.

The president also denounced the court decision during a campaign speech at the Tampa International Airport tarmac on Friday.

“I see in Boston, where you have the animal that killed so many people during the Boston Marathon, they just sent his conviction for the death penalty back to the lower courts,” he said. “So they’ll argue about that for a long time. It’s ridiculous. Think of that. It’s ridiculous.”

  177. He shouldn’t get the death penalty. That’s the soft sentence. He should get genuine life imrisonment, that’s the harsher penalty.

  178. Trump, as president, shouldn’t comment on individual cases.

  179. no he shouldn’t comment, and yes he should get death……

  180. I don’t think a President should comment of the merits of the appeal. I have a reluctant opposition to the dp in general, but I could see some reasonable arguments in its favor in certain cases.

  181. Actually i think the President should be able to comment but he should have no authority at all in the matter.

  182. PS Mahons, you have no right to comment you racist 🙂

  183. The problem is the dp was overturned because of the adverse publicity’s impact on the jury. A President’s comment are given broad publicity and could unduly impact a jury.

  184. Fair point. I was referring in general to a President giving his opinion once a case is over and the penalty has been decided. I can see that if a Jury is deciding a sentence (something we don’t have here in the UK) it would be inappropriate for the President to try and influence their decision.

  185. Nixons comments almost caused a mistrial in the Manson case.

  186. hi charles
lol to that’s ma ruling ..:)

but see we’re totally opposite here
BLM protests and making statemens designed to bring about better community relations is an upward move towards reaching for higher ideals; on the other hand radical evangelicals are certainly causing trouble and attempting to castrate USA long held traditions and liberty.

to quote the learned prof colm swingers snr of ATW many in the crazy wing have

“strongly advocated for many of its moral laws to be not a matter of choice but imposed by secular law.

petem bullshits us the other night ( and every night )
claiming he’s got it the right way round.
everything he says is a LIE, its the opposite, the TRUTH is on our side
that’s why we’re free 🙂 and yup that’s ma roolin

    clue : Petem = Gammon , Kurt = Salmon

can’t go far wrong if you guys keep that a rule of thumb ..

  187. oops swam onto wrong thread .. hahaha

  188. kurt

I think you are swimming up your very own turbulent stream kurt. You do have a very random stream of consciousness way of commenting some times. I mean what does..

to quote the learned prof colm swingers snr of ATW many in the crazy wing have

    ..even mean ? 🙂

  189. wrong thread colm , originally (my bad)

I’m quoting your comments from other thread as back up
    as that’s exactly what these crazy buggers in the southern churchs are up to;
attempting to trash the constitution of the USA and take away liberties and tradition

you are professor colm your surname is SWINGERS got you showed you have a set of
and you’re snr. as in senior , as there is no colm junior

    ahh , that’s that then 😉

  190. Okey dokey Kurt. Step away from the laughing gas 😉

  191. its no laughing matter 😉
    petem claimed the reverse yesterday
that the left are assaulting liberty and tradition
    charles swallowed it whole
I’ve shown its a complete falsehood
Its the Right that have been launching assaults on freedom, liberty and tradition
since even before day 1 of his presidency .

Just annihilating petem’s perfidious propaganda as per ATW raison d’etre, my man

  192. //oops swam onto wrong thread //

Maybe even into the wrong lunatic asylum 🙂

  193. haha
seriously though if you’re not paying attention to the way the Right is undermining law liberty and tradition you’re asleep
look at the lack of action as regards Russia, the lack of oversight in the administration, the rejection of evidence and subpoenas at the impeachment , the corruption of DOJ and undermining of FBI , CIA and other Intel Agencies, they’re seeking to dismantle checks and balances .

On a local level they’re disenfranchising voters, with 1 machine for 50,000 people in recent election. undermining the election, they’re constantly undermining the right to protest, tarring them all with the “anarchist” tag, the list is long and is a daily assault on freedoms
