Ok, here’s one for you all. During the months of home incarceration aka “Lockdown: what have YOU learned? My biggest lesson is that I need a LOT less stuff! So fewer visits to shops is great!  I also appreciate even more seeing my family. Some of you may know that I am about ten days away from being a grandfather for the first time, and that will be a special moment and one that some of the previous distractions of life will not take away from me! So, what say you?

  1. Congratulations, David. I recently became a ‘step-grandfather’, if such a thing exists, and it’s been great!
As to what I have learned: I’ve started a bit of wood-carving, and am finding it to be very calming and therapeutic. I learned a few chords on the guitar, which I am very pleased about, and I have, like you, learned that material possessions are nowhere near as vital and important as family and mental and physical wellbeing 😊

  2. Many congrats, Seimi!

  3. Very special time David – congratulations.

  4. Having lunch with my kids everyday was nice, though with our office opening back up and blended learning (part-time remote) starting in September that will mostly be ending.

  5. hmmm nothing changed, if anything I got busier. The pandemic caused a lot activity with the homeless and seniors aid packages.

but I’m a hermit in a tin can on a farm to begin with……

  6. Grandchildren are a joy I’ve yet to have. 🙁

  7. Good luck, David (and Seimi), I’m sure you’re going to be a great gramps. Somewhat eccentric, yes, but sure that’s the way all gramps should be.

I like what they say about grandkids : If I’d known how great grandchildren would be, I’d have had them first.

  8. Pat, check mail pls.

Congrats David & Seimi, (again). I’m really looking forward to grandchildren.

What about knowing how great great-grandchildren would be ?

David and Seimi – Enjoy the precious time you have as Granddaddies and remember the golden rule. Keep the grandkids away from A Tangled Web. You don’t want them corrupted by a place infested with drippy liberals and bonkers Trumpists 🙂

As to what I have learned from lockdown – No matter how much things change we still blame government and moan about it 🙂

    Cheers everyone !

  10. Interesting lesson is that even with more time (no commuting) I still can’t get everything done.

  11. Congratulations David and Seimi

If anything I’ve been really busy during the pandemic.

I did the hardest physical days work I’ve ever done last week laying 72 flagstones in a day.
    I didn’t expect that at 53.

  12. Everything work related takes much longer to do, with everyone out of position

They say that many are putting on weight working from home, but I am doing the opposite. Have dropped a few pounds, as am able to do more exercise ( biking, walking, other things) any time I wish.
