TRUMP DESERVES THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE

By Pete Moore On September 11th, 2020

Will the US really jeopardise all this in November?

Israel and the Gulf state of Bahrain have reached a landmark deal to fully normalise their relations, US President Donald Trump has announced.

“The second Arab country to make peace with Israel in 30 days,” he tweeted […]

The Gulf state has become only the fourth Arab country in the Middle East to recognise Israel since its founding in 1948. The others are Egypt and Jordan.

Well done to all involved. Peace in the Middle East has seemed an unattainable prize for so long. As much as the staid old methods were tried it was simply intractable. President Trump took a look and cut through the Gordian Knot. He is a modern-day, golden-haired Alexander.

Never mind what Bahrain might get in return. That’s mere detail. The President deserves the Nobel Peace Prize. I just cannot believe that there are voters out there in America who want to jeopardise these great steps toward peace by voting for the senile commie.

  1. There is no true peace in the Middle East, but recent events are positive, and are interesting.

Trump has been helpful here, and so actually has been Iran. The Iranian threat has brought Israel and the Gulf Arabs together in a visible way.

  2. I wasn’t aware that there was a particular conflict that needed peaceful resolution between Israel and Bahrain. Well at least we can rest in our beds now , knowing the terrible toll of slaughter of the great Israel/Bahrain war will now end 🙂

  3. I’ve actually visited Israel, the UAE, and Bahrain.

So I take credit for anything good that has happened.

  4. it’s just the beginning alignment before the war.

  5. I find some of what has happened to be amazing, and am still thinking it through and may write a post on it later

  6. should be an interesting read.

  7. it’s just the beginning alignment before the war.

Could a US attack on Iran be Trump’s “October surprise”? Don’t rule it out.

  8. Could a US attack on Iran be Trump’s “October surprise”? Don’t rule it out.

Not a chance. Trump is a peacenik. He’s been at odds with the Pentagon warhawks for four years.

  9. “How would you sum up the cluster-fuck that was 2020?”

“Donald Trump was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize.”

    “‘Nuff said.”

  10. Seimi –

President Trump has been nominated twice for the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize. That’s double the biglyness.

Why shouldn’t he be the recipient?

  11. Hillary Clinton is much more of an interventionist and war hawk than Trump has proved to be so far.

Her record as Secretary of State was atrocious, including her pushing for the bombing of Libya, which destabilized that country and North Africa

  12. President Trump has been nominated twice for the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize. That’s double the biglyness.

And going by how this year has gone so far, he’ll probably end up getting it.

Why shouldn’t he be the recipient?

I know that nothing I write here will change the mind of such a devoted fanboy as yourself, Pete, but I would suggest that someone deserving of a prize for peace, would be able to achieve something close to it in the country they run, rather than being divisive?
Plus – I just don’t like Trump: his personality, his opinions, his outbursts, his childish behaviour etc etc etc.
I know these things all make you wet, Pete (or at least slightly damp), but I’m not really turned on by any of it.

Has she been nominated as well? Or is this just a strawman?

  13. She was his opponent for president. It was in all the papers.

Trump has thus far been less of an interventionist than – Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, GW Bush and Bill Clinton.

He’s bad, but the above is hard to dispute.

  14. She was his opponent for president. It was in all the papers.

The subject matter is a nomination for the Nobel Peace prize. Read the post, instead of trying yet again to be a smartarse.

He’s bad, but the above is hard to dispute.

It’s also completely besides the point. He won’t get it because he ‘wasn’t as bad as these people.’

  15. He has been less warlike than his US and UK peers have been, and he has made attempts at peacemaking that have already been successful in the case of Israel-UAE and Israel-Bahrain.

And Saudi Arabia looks to be approving all of this.

I won’t call for a parade quite yet, but this isn’t nothing, and credit should be given where credit is due.

You take my fandom much too seriously. I’m mostly a fan of his ability to wind up people who deserve it.

That’s evidence that you have no sense of humour. It’s a Monty Python choice of president and you are outraged rather than amused. You need to be more British and off-handed about these things.

As much as I would disagree with the policies of a President Biden it would be amusing to see a senile old bullshitter (c’mon, Biden was always a great bullshitter) in the White House.

I couldn’t be less British if I tried.

You take my fandom much too seriously. I’m mostly a fan of his ability to wind up people who deserve it.

I don’t think so. Your slobbering affection for him at times borders on the obscene.

That’s evidence that you have no sense of humour.

I think I have a very healthy and broad sense of humour. For example, I read much of what you write on this site and laugh at it 🙂

As much as I would disagree with the policies of a President Biden it would be amusing to see a senile old bullshitter (c’mon, Biden was always a great bullshitter) in the White House.

I can’t see Biden being such a great president either, so at least we agree on something (not forgetting your ‘up the Arse’ sentiment on another post.)

  18. Biden don’t have his fastball any more.

The debates could be cruel, ugly.

  19. A series of debates between someone who isn’t as sharp as they used to be, and someone who just lies and believes his own lies, could become very messy indeed.
This could make for the most memorable presidential debates for decades.

  20. Trump is a peacenik.

But we know that he is totally amoral. If he thinks a war will help him get re-elected, he will start a war.

  21. The Trumpers are still giggling over Trump’s name calling four years ago. They thought it was the Gettysburg Address, the finest oratory that any of them ever heard.

These debates I believe will have no audience, so the gag lines won’t prompt guffaws from the cheap seats. Perhaps Biden can do well in a setting like that.

Again its not that Trump lies it’s that he lies so quickly and effortlessly and often, that while you sound like a fussy school marm correcting his first two lies, he’s allowed another three lies to pass through unchallenged.

Most Americans feel that Trump has botched the coronavirus response, and the new Woodward book doesn’t help him one bit. I don’t know how he can recover from that one.

  22. The debates could be cruel, ugly.

Have the debates ever swung an election since 1960 when Nixon forgot to shave?

In my memory they are usually what we call bore draws in football.

  23. Reagan did very well against Carter

    It helped him

He was seen as sunny and optimistic, Carter dour

Running away from Putin is not the same thing as promoting peace

  25. The debates in this case will be like watching Thunderdome….. dying time is here……

The Nobel Peace Prize IS the original Python or Alfred E Neuman skit it was created as a twisted joke to show how simple minded peaceniks and anti-explosive loons are.

  26. Reagan did very well against Carter

But Reagan was always going to win that election, the debates didn’t change the outcome.

  27. the debates solidified reagan’s vote and scared the crap out of the dems Peter

  28. to say trump has run away from or been easy on putin in any way is idiocy that ignores the reality of the facts of events and sanctions, shear propaganda.

  29. Peter

Jimmy Carter had a 6 point lead in major polls a month before the 1980 election

    Reagan finished very strong

So why the silence on Navalny? It’s three weeks now, so it looks like Trump will have nothing to say this side of the election. Why would that be? He’s quick enough to shoot his mouth off against every other world leader, especially the ones who lead democracies. But not a single tweet against Putin in four years. Not even one.

  31. Peter

Trump has been in front of the Press everyday of those 3 weeks, can you name one reporter that has asked him about Navalny?

It’s not a big deal here. Putin bumps off what he considers agitators on a regular basis we expect it, but if no one asks the President about it he should go out of his way to say something? What has Merkel said? Please link to her statement. Your country is a vassal state of Russia a puppet of their fuel crying about the fact we after 75yrs are finally bringing OUR troops home while they become totally dependent on Russian Fuel. we have enough going here to care about who the Czar poisons. So has Merkel canceled the Pipeline over Navalny?

Please link to your Countries Leader condemning Navalny’s poisoning and what she has done about it.

  32. I wasn’t aware Peter lives in Germany. I thought he lived in N.I. ?

  33. Colm

PaTroll thinks Peter is Noel. Its just a sign of old age creeping in! 😉

  34. Or perhaps all us Euroweenies are the same to him 😉

  35. “Jimmy Carter had a 6 point lead in major polls a month before the 1980 election”

In the polls immediately before the debate Carter led Reagan by 3%. In the polls immediately after the debate Reagan had a 1% lead. A 2% swing is big, and is one of the bigger debate swings in US political history (and a swing that would but Biden in difficulty). Of course Reagan ended up winning by 10%, with a further swing (after the debates) of 4.5%. The continuing poor performance of the US economy and the begin of the Iran crisis was what killed Carter. If Reagan had only won by what he was leading by after the debates then Carter likely wins the election. Judging by a state-by-state results in 1980 a 1% Reagan lead gives Carter an electoral college win.

Ultimately the major impact of debates is momentum. And all that matters then is the performance of the candidate compared to how they were expected to perform. If Candidate A is not expected to do well and does ok then they actually do well out of the debate. If Candidate B is expected to do very well and only does ok then (even if they are better than their opponent) they will actually do badly out of the debate (though not too much).

  36. A bad and sad development for Palestine, justice and the rule of law.

  37. A bad and sad development for Palestine, justice and the rule of law.

As an Irishman living in Spain what would you know about Palestine ? 🙂

  38. A piss poor selection for your next president.
I wonder will Trump be re-elected.

  39. sorry I thought (that was my first mistake) but somewhere in the fog of typing that Peter turned into Noel……..

  40. No when you wake in the middle of the night to pee (because of being old) you shouldn’t check the blog in your sleep………

  41. Never mind Patrick. I hope you still enjoyed your recent trip to Ireland and meeting up with Seimi 😉

  42. I think I speak on behalf of all here, Colm, when I welcome you back to ATW. We realise it was out of character when you had that meltdown with Phantom last week. Mind you; some here were even saying you were one of those arrested for rioting in NewYork, but those of us who met you in Belfast knew that you were just at another of your anti-Muslim/Jew events in Aberdeen.

  43. Trump will get the Lenin Prize from Putin first.

  44. Whoops,

what could possibly, possibly go wrong?

    https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2020/09/israel-normalisation-partition-al-aqsa-mosque-analysts-200913185257276.html

  45. lol aljazeera…… lmao the most unbiased source on the planet, but then again it could have just as easily been a frontpage story for the 0NYTs or WaPo.

  46. If you have access to Al Jazeera, you may want to take a look.

    They’re worth looking at.

Much less biased than Fox News or MSNBC, and they cover the world, which those channels do not really do.

  47. if you can read this site you can watch aljazeera if you choose, you can watch, read, consume information, news, and opinion from every varied view from anywhere in the world.

It’s wonderful….. it’s also a fire that they will never be able to control or put out.

It’s a good thing information, especially information that’s 180 degrees from yours. You can never work things out unless you know where a person honestly stands. And challenging points of view no matter how right or how wrong are all getting to be heard.

Could god feel mankind has finally deserved the gift of everyone being able to understand and communicate with everyone? or have we matured enough as a species that we will allow every person a voice ?

  48. lol aljazeera…… lmao the most unbiased source on the planet

Nice bit of shooting the messenger there Pat. If you bothered to open the item you’d see that AJ were reporting on a study. BTW, AJ certainly has a bias, (which unlike some ‘news channels’ it doesn’t try to hide), but it’s standard of journalism is superb. How can you rubbish AJ while posting multiple videos of Tucker Carlson?

    Pls check your mail.

  49. AJ does plenty of factual information that is what it is.

    Not opinion, facts.

  50. Trump deserves the Peace Prize simply because he has not taken us to war.

  51. But he has weakened our alliances, and has given status to the North Korean maniac, and have stopped the US/South Korea at his request, which is a fairly literal example of appeasement.

And NK continues to develop its nuclear weapons program.
