ARE THE TORIES THROWING THE NEXT ELECTION?

By Pete Moore On September 24th, 2020

The General Election is four years away. They’ve already been doing a bang up job of trying to throw it, then someone allowed Health Commissar Matt Hancock answer a question today. Bad mistake.

Matt Hancock has refused to rule out banning students from returning home at Christmas, to limit the spread of coronavirus outbreaks.

This being politics, the only rational explanation is that Boris will announce, a week before Christmas, that students can go home. Ta-daa: “Boris Saves Christmas” the headlines will go. But is that the plan? If there was any rationality left in Number 10 Matt Hancock would have been sacked months ago.

Telling mothers and grandparents that their little Timmys and Jemimas won’t be allowed home at Christmas is something for which they would never forgive the Tories, four years or four days ago. Matt Hancock probably is oblivious to this, and it’s absolutely plausible that he was giving a straight (but stupid) answer to a straight question.

  1. Time to bring back Failing Grayling? Seriously, this is a government of all the talentless.

  2. Failing Grayling was well named, and not even he would do worse than Hancock. Just let the words sink in:

Matt Hancock has refused to rule out banning students from returning home at Christmas, to limit the spread of coronavirus outbreaks.

On what planet does anyone with two brain cells think that this is a bright idea?!
