In an interview with National Public Radio’s public editor today, Terence Samuel, managing editor for news, explained why readers haven’t seen any stories about the New York Post’s Hunter Biden email scoop.

“We don’t want to waste our time on stories that are not really stories, and we don’t want to waste the listeners’ and readers’ time on stories that are just pure distractions,” Samuel reasoned. “And quite frankly, that’s where we ended up, this was . . . a politically driven event and we decided to treat it that way.”

They can admit it in public because the sheep bought the Russian Collusion fot 4 years. They’ll buy anything…..

    Charles, I have repeatedly asked here for actual e mails to be linked to, (not what the NYP says is in the mails), and for the sources of the allegations of the FBI seizing multiple laptops & moble phones to be linked to also.

    Absolutely no verification has been forthcoming.

    All I can see is a photo of Biden Jr with what appears to be a pipe in his mouth and the report of an e mail where someone from Burisma claims he was introduced to Biden Snr, which the Biden camp has said didn’t happen.

    Do you think that’s strong enough evidence to form an objective opinion?

    To be fair I don’t believe they are. As I said in response to your comment on the other thread:

    I don’t think it is a coordinated news blackout. I think it is responsible journalists being responsible, and in the case of the New York Post and Fox News, irresponsible tabloids being irresponsible. In their news reporting (as opposed to their opinion pieces) the conservative, but more responsible, Wall Street Journal have been very sceptical about the Hunter Biden ‘revelations’.

    Because I think the distinction shouldn’t be between conservative and liberal (with the Wall Street Journal, the New York Post, and Fox News on one side and the Washington Post, the New York Times, MSNBC and CNN on the other). I think it should be between reliable and unreliable, journalist and tabloid (so the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, and the New York Times on one side, and the New York Post, Fox News, MSNBC and CNN on the other).

    If something is being carried by sensationalist media companies but not by sober journalists (on either side – I’d apply the same standard if it is being taken forward by CNN or MSNBC but not the Washington Post) then it is reasonable, in my opinion, to, if not outright disregard it, to at least treat it with a healthy dollop of scepticism.

  30. Trump could well win not only Texas but also Florida and Ohio. He most likely won’t win in Philadelphia and Wisconsin and Michigan, and if Biden wins those states, it doesn’t look good for DT.

    But nobody knows how this is going to turn out. There will most likely be more young people voting this time, a lot of whom were wise enough to stay at home in 2016, and they will mostly vote Biden. On the other hand, the GoP has seen more new registrations than the Dems.
    As always, it’s about getting people out to vote on the day and the Dems were stupid not to select someone who could i) appeal to blue-collar workers, ii) motivate people to do the right thing in November and iii) speak well and have a clean record.

    It’s hard to imagine that there are any genuinely undecided voters at this stage. It will all depend on turnout including getting the postal votes in and counted. I see the Texas governor has limited postal dropoffs to one per county, including counties with millions of voters. Fair play to the GOP – they are more and more shameless in their voter suppression. Maybe next time Texas will just ban postal votes just like it bans abortion.
