SAY WHAT YOU SEE

By Pete Moore On October 26th, 2020

This is a fascinating short film about groupthink and conformity. People ignore what their own eyes tell them, and bury their morality in the process, to conform to the group.

But it might only take one person to speak up to break that conformity. Courage is therefore infectious.

  1. Interesting experiment and potential explanation of the Trump personality cult among the cultists.

  2. You’re missing the point, Paul. Trump supporters are the nay-sayers, the ones saying what they see.

The other side has the establishment, the media, all of social media, the corporate world and total cultual hegemony on its side. That’s where the groupthink is.

I didn’t want to be so blatant in truth, but the video is posted for the left’s benefit.

  3. I’ve seen experiments like this before, and they are really interesting.
I actually studied psychology at night school many years ago. They tested us in the class when we first started the course, and I was found to have very independent personality type. I do not wish to belong to groups, and I do not follow groups.
But it has to be said this is the exception, rather than the rule.

As for Pete’s nonsense about groupthink in the left, it doesn’t matter whether you belong to the so-called left or right. This kind of thinking exists across all types political views.

  4. Trump supporters are the nay-sayers, the ones sating what they see

Then why aren’t they saying he’s an embezzeling fraud, serial whoremongering pathological liar?

  5. They tested us in the class when we first started the course, and I was found to have very independent personality type.

    “Argumentative.”

Then why aren’t they saying he’s an embezzeling fraud, serial whoremongering pathological liar?

You can think that and still think that the other candidate is an embezzling fraud, a pathological and an unAmerican bastard who wants to end the way of life that you’ve always known.

Newsflash: Trump supporters know he’s a flawed man.

  6. Newsflash: Trump supporters know he’s a flawed man

I know you’re prone to exaggeration Pete but ‘flawed man’ might just be one of the biggest underestimates you’ve ever claimed.

The difference of course is that the ‘ embezzling fraud, serial whoremongering pathological liar’ comments about Trump are demonstrable, verifiable facts.

  7. saying turnip is a flawed man is like saying the Grand Canyon is a bit of a dip

  8. The difference of course is that the ‘ embezzling fraud, serial whoremongering pathological liar’ comments about Trump are demonstrable, verifiable facts.

And still his Democratic opponent in 2016 was an embezzling fraud, a pathological liar and an unAmerican bastard who wants to end the way of life that Trump supporters have always known.

Elections are not purity tests. Sinn Fein/IRA wouldn’t be able to run any candidates if they were, but they do and some win. Ninety percent of people – including you – don’t give a monkey’s for someone’s character; they simply want the other side to lose.

Democratic voters don’t care that Biden is a corrupt, pathological liar who is clearly unwell. They simply want Trump to lose and they don’t care who replaces him. We all know that.

  9. Ohhhhh Pete, surely you can do better that the what about Hilary, what about Sinn Féin?

    That’s soooooooo retro.

Ninety percent of people – including you – don’t give a monkey’s for someone’s character; they simply want the other side to lose.

You & your identity politics again.

You really shouldn’t project your own thought processes onto others.

  10. Paul –

You’re an IRA supporter. Please don’t pretend you judge someone’s character for goodness sake.

  11. As I said Pete, soooooo retro.

You really should get some new material.

Trump’s a conman, thieving bum male slut. But hey, as long as it rubs up the lefties, eh?

  12. The thing is, Paul, once you’ve admitted what you admit you have no high horse to get on.

You wouldn’t vote for Trump, but the idea that his character has anything to do with it is drivel.

  13. that Biden is a corrupt, pathological liar who is clearly unwell

a pefect example of group think and conformity
don’t take my word, take lindsey grahams on Biden
“he says Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden is “as good a man as God ever created.”
try this : it never gets old LG on Biden

There is simply no reply to that mr.petem on either side of eternity ..

  14. Ah Pete, high horse? me?

I just don’t carp on about western Christian values while adulating a serial philanderer, thief and pathological liar.

  15. Even scarier was the test where one group of students thought they were torturing members of the other group by pressing a (dummy) switch and were easily persuaded to do it.

However, I’m always a bit suspicious of these tests. Mostly the test persons are students and students are often easily fooled. But there’s probably something in it.

Just look at the faces in any Trump rally. It’s like one of those evangelist sessions. They seem to enjoy being mindless.

  16. Even scarier was the test where one group of students thought they were torturing members of the other group by pressing a (dummy) switch and were easily persuaded to do it

Yeah, I saw something like that too. It was pretty unnerving.

There’s a doc on Netflix about a social experiment where a group of students became prisoners and another group became jailers for two weeks in a make up jail.

    It was pretty frightening.

  17. Pete Moore.

    Argumentative

You may have a point there Mr Pot.

  18. Noel,

Even scarier was the test where one group of students thought they were torturing members of the other group by pressing a (dummy) switch and were easily persuaded to do it.

I know it’s hard to believe but Pete’s example, and your example here, have been shown to be true in multiple independent tests. And if you think that’s unbelievable, have a read of this:

You’ll be amazed what you can get impressionable and susceptible people to do. Mind readers take advantage of this personality trait.
