ATW WOMAN OF THE DAY!
By ATWadmin On March 31st, 2009
I take my hat off to actress Angie Harmon who speaks much common sense in this interview..
“Angie Harmon is not afraid to come out and say she doesn’t like how President Obama is handling the job — but she’s sick of having to defend herself from being deemed a racist.
“Here’s my problem with this, I’m just going to come out and say it. If I have anything to say against Obama it’s not because I’m a racist, it’s because I don’t like what he’s doing as President and anybody should be able to feel that way, but what I find now is that if you say anything against him you’re called a racist,” Harmon told Tarts at Thursday’s Los Angeles launch of the new eyelash-growing formula, Latisse. “But it has nothing to do with it, I don’t care what color he is. I’m just not crazy about what he’s doing and I heard all about this, and he’s gonna do that and change and change, so okay … I’m still dressing for a recession over here buddy and we’ve got unemployment at an all-time high and that was his number one thing and that’s the thing I really don’t appreciate. If I’m going to disagree with my President, that doesn’t make me a racist. If I was to disagree with W, that doesn’t make me racist. It has nothing to do with it, it is ridiculous.”
She has a point. Any criticism of The One is met with “Is it cos you are a racist” outraged look from the media. Like Harmon, I couldn’t care less what colour Obama is – it’s the reddish colour of his policies that I take issue with and she is brave to stand up and say so – in a Hollywoodenhead land besotted with Obama.

"Harmon told Tarts at Thursday’s Los Angeles launch of the new eyelash-growing formula, Latisse."
Yes, we should clearly listen to this woman. Mickey Rourke can be quite the oracle too.
This is a straw-man argument. No-one has accused the Republicans who opposed the bail-out of racism. Normal politics resumed within a few weeks of Obama’s inauguration, whatever this Holywood airhead thinks.
Hmmmmm…contrast

"I see that in the latest of a fine tradition of actresses making stupid comments, the Hollywood actress Rose McGowan has been heavily criticised after expressing sympathy with the IRA ahead of the release of her new film"

It would seem that ‘The fine tradition of actresses making stupid comments’ does’nt apply when those comments are in convergence with your own political opinions?
Paul:
As I said before to another commenter: Why should you expect consistency on ATW?
David, you claim that if people criticise Obama then they aren’t necessarially racist but if they criticse the State of Israel then they are definately anti-Semetic.
My goodness David, do you only get trolls and other timewasters early in your blog? Today’s an especially good trawl so far.
"Anti-racism" is the Left’s stock excuse for not arguing at all – let alone coherently and logically about anything to do with nationality, foreign policy, defence, law and order, welfare benefit reform and falling educational standards. Having stuck race onto everything under the sun, then any criticism of any part of the Left’s worldview therefore becomes racism.
And I’m damned sure that that’s where any cogent criticism of President Obama will end up for all but a few of the Left’s luminaries with intellectual integrity (pbut.)
I’d love to know any race other than the Jews who are expected to stand peacefully by whilst enemies sworn to their edestruction lob rockets at random towards their towns and villages and to accept people walking coat-loads of explosives into their weddings and resaurants without trying to keep the attacking peoples’ fellow citizens under close watch?
The French? American blacks – do they have to turn the other cheek unto death? White Irish Catholics?

Care to explain?
I’ve seen the racist accusations right here in the comments on ATW when criticism of The One is put forth. She’s right, and I agree with her. I’m sick of it.
It’s a great way to try and shut down any criticism of him.
Monica:
Good to know you agree with a Hollywood talking (air)head.
I notice how Obama’s war on US car makers has been carefully ignored in some quarters.
One can’t imagine why.
If she’s right, she’s right.
If my mother has testicles, she’s my father.
Angie is a proud daughter of Dallas, Texas!
As the President is only half black, the worst you can accuse his foes is of being half racist!
Phantom:
That’s hardly the worst you can accuse them of.

Point proved Seamus!
I have seen critisism of Obama dismissed as racism without grounds. It is also almost impossible for some one to make an anti Obama statement (in a public arena anyway) without someone making an accusation of racism so she has a point in that respect. On the other hand not everyone (even of the left) automatically makes that accusation.
It is probably similar to negative comemnts about Isreal automatically being assumed to be anti semitic. Some do it, but not automatically.
Of course the fact that all anto Obama opinions are not rooted in racism doesn’t mean that some aren’t and that some anto Isreal aren’t tooted in antisemitism (or more correctly – anti-jewishness)
I listen to a fair amount of right and left wing stuff on the radio and tv and have fortunately not yet heard the " racism " term used against his critics.

Has anyone actually ever called Angie Harmon racist for ANY opinion she has expressed? I doubt it.
She’s a hottie who is in no danger of winning the Nobel Prize anytime soon.
