THE TROUBLE WITH BONO…

By ATWadmin On November 8th, 2006

bonovertigoPA.jpgDid you see that Saint Bono, on the opening night of U2’s Australian tour, has taken time out from saving the planet and ending poverty in Africa, to demand the release of an Australian terror suspect interned at Guantanamo Bay?

David Hicks, is charged with attempted murder, conspiracy to commit war crimes and aiding the enemy. It is worth remembering that Hicks was a professional Islamic holy warrior who fought for two jihadist movements that spurn every tenet of civilised warfare. And he was captured in an active combat theatre while bearing arms.

Being a good liberal, Bono nonetheless believes Hicks is innocent. And Bono’s friends in Amnesty International believe Hicks cannot get a fair trial anyway. Isn’t it wonderful to see such warm humanitarians as Bono and the Amnesty gang doing their level best to get every captured Jihadist released from prison….. It’s almost as if they feel they have more in common with our enemies, isn’t it?

  1. >>And he was captured in an active combat theatre while bearing arms.<<

If that’s the case, he should either be tried in a court of law or else treated as a prisoner of war.
Guantanamo Bay is an attempt to deny prisoners the rights of either.

    >>Being a good liberal, Bono nonetheless believes Hicks is innocent<<

No, he doesn’t. He believes Hicks should be put on trial.

  2. But by whom? And what business of his is it? The elected Prime Minister of Australia does not agree with this posturing buffoon.

  3. Let me tell you something…I’ve had enough of Irish Americans who haven’t been back to their country in twenty or thirty years, come up to me and talk about the resistance, the revolution back home. And the glory of the revolution and the glory of dying for the revolution…Fuck the revolution! They don’t talk about the glory of killing for the revolution. What’s the glory in taking a man from his bed and gunning him down in front of his wife and his children? Where’s the glory in that? Where’s the glory in bombing a Remembrance Day parade of old-age pensioners their medals taken out and polished up for the day? Where’s the glory in that? To leave them dying or crippled for life or dead under the rubble of a revolution that the majority of people in my country don’t want…say no more, no more, no more, no more….”

Why doesn’t he take his own advice and mind his own business? Or is it, as I suspect, that Bono will be passionate about anything once it is popular because the purpose of the exercise is always to sell records and make money. I can very well believe the news today. It’s just Bono as usual.

If it’s good enough for Bob it’s good enough for me.

"Stay, lady, stay, stay with your man awhile
Why wait any longer for the world to begin
You can have your cake and eat it too
Why wait any longer for the one you love
When he’s standing in front of you"

  13. Mad,

Yes – and where is the JUSTICE for the next of kin? Where are the arrests? Where is the desire to bring the guilty to book? Nowhere, that’s where. One more reason why I despise our political elite.

  14. It’s expected to be forgotten, swept under the carpet.
Time to move on …. Will the Pat Finucane Centre be calling on McGuinness and Adams to come clean ? Will they Hell. Have the DUP and UUP made things like this a prerequisite for Progress ? Have they Hell.

Take a look at the DUP website – not a mention.
They don’t care. More focussed on other things.
