Will the US really jeopardise all this in November?

Israel and the Gulf state of Bahrain have reached a landmark deal to fully normalise their relations, US President Donald Trump has announced.

“The second Arab country to make peace with Israel in 30 days,” he tweeted […]

The Gulf state has become only the fourth Arab country in the Middle East to recognise Israel since its founding in 1948. The others are Egypt and Jordan.

Well done to all involved. Peace in the Middle East has seemed an unattainable prize for so long. As much as the staid old methods were tried it was simply intractable. President Trump took a look and cut through the Gordian Knot. He is a modern-day, golden-haired Alexander.

Never mind what Bahrain might get in return. That’s mere detail. The President deserves the Nobel Peace Prize. I just cannot believe that there are voters out there in America who want to jeopardise these great steps toward peace by voting for the senile commie.

“A hospital has “apologised unreservedly” to grieving families following the deaths of 31 patients who had contracted Covid-19 on its wards.”

Well done to the Weston General Hospital in Somerset. That’s how you free up beds in case Wuhan Flu victims need them.

One NHS hospital, 31 deaths.

We’d have New Zealand-type numbers without the NHS killing everyone who gets wheeled into it.

“Tasers are not a solution” – GerryKelly MLA
“Tasers are potentially lethal weapons, we cannot ignore the fact they have been involved in the deaths of hundreds of people internationally.”
This one is a fail. Trolling should be less obvious.

The so-called revolutionaries who were busted for rioting at a New Afrikan Black Panther Party rally took a break from their yacht club lives and modeling careers to be a part of the mayhem.

The seven “comrades” — including wealthy Upper East Sider Clara Kraebber — had their mug shots tweeted out by the NYPD early Wednesday, days after their arrests for smashing storefront windows in the Flatiron District.

Paedophilia! I’m pretty sure that Netflix has broken numerous laws in producing this.

Actual criminal damage, again. This is the work of an Extinction Rebellion economic terrorist. Yeah, defacing Sir Winston Churchill’s statue will cool the Sun, or something.

Terrorist tip: if you want to deface a statue of someone who hated blacks then Gandhi’s statue is just over the road.

Allow me to explain.

The United Kingdom left the EU on 31st January this year. The Withdrawal Agreement sets out the terms of our leaving and allows for a transition period, until 31st December this year. The Northern Ireland Protocol is a part of the Withdrawal Agreement. Under the protocol, Northern Ireland will continue to enforce the EU’s customs rules and follow its rules on product standards. It comes into effect on 1st January 2021. (It is also unconstitutional because it breeches the Act of Union, but we’ll let that pass.)

The Withdrawal Agreement is accompanied by a duty to conclude and implement a UK/EU trade deal by the end of 2020. Since then, and despite numerous previous promises to do so, the EU has absolutely refused to agree any kind of trade deal. It has failed to do so because it  refuses to accept the that UK is a sovereign, independent and self-governing nation once again.

Far from seeking to reach a trade deal, the EU threatened to impose tariffs and barriers to trade between Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK. No responsible government could possibly leave an economic annexation of a part of the UK unaddressed. It is akin to NAFTA imposing tariffs and barriers to trade between the American states. It is intolerable and would not be allowed.

The government has done what it must, which is to allow for the offending parts of the Withdrawal Agreement to be set aside if the EU goes ahead with its threat. The UK government has actually tried to negotiate a trade deal in good faith, as a sovereign nation which wants a deal but which will not be pushed around. The EU’s response has been to wildly thrash around because it cannot bully the other party.

If Parliament votes to amend the law it will be acting properly and constitutionally.

As for Nancy Pelosi, if she wants to campaign on a platform of voting down a deal which would be good for the American economy and American jobs then that’s her batty call.

Century 21 Stores in NYC to close

By Phantom On September 10th, 2020 at 3:29 pm

If you’ve visited New York, it’s likely that you’ve been to the Century 21 department store across the street from the Trade Center. Guidebooks always mentioned it. Their prices on clothing were very good. A European visitor could buy European made clothing for half the price back home. People would travel to NYC with one big empty suitcase, to be filled with dresses and sportswear from Century 21.

It is just announced that Century 21 is declaring bankruptcy, and that they will wind down all operations. They don’t see a good way forward.

Besides the large store in Manhattan, they have a huge store in Bay Ridge Brooklyn, and stores throughout the region, down to Philadelphia.

These stores were much loved, this news will hit hard. A woman in my office used to shop at the Manhattan location twice a week. She just loved roaming the aisles, buying this or that for the family.

The closed stores will be a major hit to the neighborhoods, to the surrounding stores, to the the many long term employees.

I would hope against hope that something can reverse this decision.

If you like the retail stores near you, try to support them now. The hour of need for them is now.

The US House of Representatives Speaker is threatening that there will be ‘absolutely no chance’ of a trade deal with Britain if Boris Johnson overrides the Brexit deal with Brussels.

Nancy Pelosi, a prominent Democrat, said that the American Congress would never pass an economic agreement that it felt could ‘imperil’ the Northern Ireland peace accord.

The comments come after the Prime Minister caught the EU by surprise by unveiling plans to override key elements of the Brexit deal regarding Northern Ireland.
