A letter has just emerged showing that the “Russia hoax,” the accusations that Donald Trump was colluding with Russia to steal the election, was entirely the brainchild of Hillary Clinton, and that she briefed the Obama-Biden White House on her plans.

“In late July 2o16, U.S. intelligence agencies obtained insight into Russian intelligence analysis alleging that U.S. Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton had approved a campaign plan to stir up a scandal against U.S. Presidential candidate Donald Trump by typing him to Putin and the Russians’ hacking of the Democratic National Committee. The IC does not know the accuracy of this allegation or the extend to which the Russian intelligence analysis may reflect exaggeration or fabrication.

“According to handwritten noted, former Central Intelligence Agency Director Brennan subsequently briefed President Obama and other senior national security officials on the intelligence, including the ‘alleged approval by Hillary Clinton on July 26, 2016 of a proposal from one of her foreign policy advisors to vilify Donald Trump by stirring up a scandal claiming interference by Russian security services.’

“On 07 September 2016, U.S. intelligence officials forwarded an investigative referral to FBI Director James Comey and Deputy Assistant Director of Counterintelligence Peter Strzok regarding ‘U.S. President candidate Hillary Clinton’s approval of a plan concerning U.S. Presidential candidate Donald Trump and Russian hackers hampering U.S. elections as a means of distracting the public from her use of a private email server.”

SKY News: Liverpool, Leeds and Manchester face mass redundancies and “boarded-up high streets” amid a collapse of the hospitality sector unless coronavirus restrictions are reviewed, the cities’ leaders have warned the government.

A letter to Health Secretary Matt Hancock and Business Secretary Alok Sharma from the leaders and chief executives of the three city councils said restrictions in place in the regions were threatening a “huge, disproportionate” economic impact.

The media and political class demanded lockdowns. They now complain about the economic consequences of those lockdowns. There is no beating the virus, or a heavy supression of it, in the short term. Even if a safe vaccine were produced this week, and if a million people could be vaccinated each week, it would take 14 months to vaccinate everyone just in the UK. Across the world it would take many years.

Anyone not recognising that we must learn to live with the virus for now, and that we must get on with life by allowing people to decide the risks according to their way of life, is not recognising reality.

Where I am a Guinness TV advert was set in Brazzaville. It featured “Sapeurs”, members of the Society of Ambience-Makers and Elegant People (SAPE):

I assumed it was all dreamed up by ad men, but it turns out that Sapeurs are a real thing. That I didn’t know, but it’s good because I like the advert. I don’t go around looking like Huggy Bear but I like to think I’m a little sharp. Each to their own, but as I get older the more disdainful I am of slobbishness. It started when I got into ska and two-tone a very long time ago. The bands were sharp, and so were my brogues and stay press strides in school. Years later I lived in Italy, a country where women will take an hour to get ready to pop to the shops. You simply cannot live in Italy and not be well dressed. Even the slobs are sharp and stylish.

So up your game men. Bin the trainers and put a bit of wax on your shoes. Even the old men of Brazzaville are cutting it. As I’ve said before, a well dressed society is a more polite and civilised society. We need to reclaim a bit of manly style.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump’s nominee for the U.S. Supreme Court has close ties to a charismatic Christian religious group that holds men are divinely ordained as the “head” of the family and faith. Former members of the group, called People of Praise, say it teaches that wives must submit to the will of their husbands.

So beautiful and moral. She honours God, her ancestors and the family.

The woke are in full flight from reason and debate. The Hist, The College Historical Society of Trinity College Dublin, founded in 1770 and inspired by Edmund Burke, has disinvited Professor Richard Dawkins from an address he was due to give.

The College Historical Society (the Hist) has tonight rescinded its invitation to Richard Dawkins to address the society next year.

Auditor of the Hist Bríd O’Donnell announced the cancellation in a statement on her Instagram page, saying that she had been “unaware of Richard Dawkins’ opinions on Islam and sexual assault until this evening”, adding that the society “will not be moving ahead with his address as we value our members comfort above all else”.

Intellectual inquiry and debate shouldn’t value anyone’s comfort “above all else”. It’s is top-level cowardice hiding behind a faux concern for others. It is the antithesis of anything a university ought to stand for. Sadly it joins a path well-trodden by other now shamed institutions.
